" You are a perfect match for this film. Ghostbusters are scientists, Ghostbusters are makers, Ghostbusters are believers, they are kinda everything that you are. I think you are a ghostbuster throughout". - Jason Reitman to Adam Savage. Not gonna lie , I felt those lines through my soul.

If there are two people in the world that I could easily imagine realizing there is a ghost problem, building a way to solve it, and going out and testing it until they're catching ghosts it's Jamie and Adam.

I hope Jason, Sony, and Ghost Corps pack the 4K disc with a ton of behind the scenes making of features. Not just the typical talking heads stuff, but deeper dive stuff similar to this. The process of writing it, creating the effects and props, getting the band back together, all of it.

Studios need to learn something from Ghostbusters: Afterlife's marketing...every commercial, every tweet, every interview...not ONE of these contained any derogatory remarks towards those who spend their hard earned money on these franchises. No one involved with Afterlife ever said a negative thing towards the fans of the movies. Jason Reitman has shown the utmost respect towards his father and towards the franchise, a franchise that he was literally present for at its birth (since he was a kid on set). This is how you get old fans of franchises to give your movie an opportunity to succeed.

    • @matt-lang
      @matt-lang 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Yeah, it reminds me of how they marketed Dune as well; the focus seemed as much on the effort to do justice to the source material as the actual film and star power and story. I also love that Adam was involved in a small way with the movie so we got to see how some props are made!

That is what they got right with this one. It was driven by the characters and their interactions with each other rather than trying to be a funny film like 2016 did (and failed to do). Those awkward and silly moments people have with friends along with a huge dollop of reference to the original Ghostbusters. Afterlife is a great film and a beautiful tribute to Harold.

To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? He that has ears to hear, let him hear.
Are you saved? Where will you go when you die? Heaven or hell?
The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. Although God's creation was created perfect, having no death, sickness and disease, the creation became corrupted through Adam and Eve in them disobeying God. In this rebellion the creation became fallen through the curse of sin and mankind became separated from God. This world is fallen, but God offers reconciliation to him through his provision at the cross. Ultimately God will restore his creation to perfection when he returns but those that who reject his offer of redemption will remain condemned by their sins and go to hell.
      John 1:1,14
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. [14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us,
      1 John 3:8 KJV
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
      Isaiah 9:6 KJV
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
      John 1:10
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and THE WORLD KNEW HIM NOT.

So cool to be able to honor your fathers Legacy with this movie. I tear up when I drive my fathers truck and sing the song for my father, but I lost my father years ago. This must be emotional to do for sure just because of the legacy!

The essence of the finale ghostbusting climax special Fx was dominated and almost rendered insignificant just by the emotional presence of Harold as it converged into both the reel & real world in the minds of the captivated audience.
His not talking and only showing facial expressions also added the emotional outburst.
Gr8 to see all (4) of them virtually reunited after all these decades.
This may well be the final time we'll ever see our heroes together.
It's T.R.O. - Time Running Out for everyone, no question.
Thank you for this epic scene which may never happen again.

I am just wetting my pants with anticipation.. and at 70 that alone says a lot! I haven't been to a movie theater in over 10 years.. This was the best featurette I've watched since The Making of Star Wars when I was a kid. Jason goes from being a fresh mouthed kid in Ghostbusters II to being this amazing filmmaker and storyteller. LOVED Ghostbusters : Afterlife...as did my entire family. My 10 year old daughter was thrilled with it, she's artistic and I believe she has eyes on working in the film industry one day. I did too when I was her age, but the film industry in Toronto hadn't sparked yet, and I had high school councilors that dissuaded me at every turn. But my daughter won't have that problem. I encourage her to follow her dreams no matter what anyone says. Perhaps she'll work on a Jason Reitman film some day!

I watched this movie last night and i have to say, as a 52 year old fat bloke who as a 14 / 15 year old kid saw the original Ghostbusters about a dozen times in 1984 i was blown away, the way the film was made and paid homage and respect to the original story, it`s legacy characters and it`s actors was heart warming and extremely satisfying, the original characters arcs were respected and was done in a way, i believe, that showed just how much this franchise mattered to both Ivan Reitman and his exceptional director of a son, Jason, you respected the fans and as Jason said, he didn`t own this film, he made it for the fans, how great is this guy, i mean this is exactly what should have been done for the Star Wars franchise, get a director who believes in the history of a franchise, one who respects the fans who followed it for four decades, and one who respected the characters enough to give them all realistic character arcs, but NO, we got DISNEY, and Jar Jar Abrahms, Kathleen `The Killer` Kennedy and Mr Potato Head himself Rian Johnson who all bastardised and destroyed the franchise and it`s legacy characters, not to mention the soul of the original actors like poor Mark Hamill who spent over 40 years representing the SW universe, it`s fans and his character, to get the `Band Back Together` as Jason put it was amazing to see, all three legacy characters together in one shot once again made me feel like a kid again, not to mention all the other characters who put in an appearance was amazing to see, the three horsemen of the Disney SW apocalypse , JJ Abrahms, KK and Potatohead Johnson missed out on a golden opportunity to reunite all the legacy characters and have them appear on screen together for one last time, something i`ll never forgive them for because those 3 idiots ruined SW for me, and i think i saw Star Wars like 30 times back in 1977, Jason Reitman you Sir have my deepest thanks and utmost respect for the film you created and for the joy you gave me watching it, thank you. Glen. UK

"Count of three, go on two." is just instant Venkman. The pure business as usual approach to that improved line oozes that "We're the best, we're the beautiful, we're the only... Ghostbusters" attitude that the 2016 movie lacked.
