Actually many natives commit this mistake, even more than the non natives, and this is because of the grammatical mistakes that have been engrained within the language by making them as correct in the eyes of the non eloquent native speakers, and that's it. Non natives usually do not make these mistakes because they tend to apply formally what they learn, and they pay more attention to the details differently from native speakers.

2. Incorrect (Use "it's")
Whenever you use its, remember, you are talking about something (it) that has something else. So, "The dog loves its food." or "The city is huge, and its center has so many shops."
Any time you use "it's", check if you can replace it with "it is". If you can, you're using it correctly. If you can't replace it with "it is" then you may need to use "its".
