I’m so glad someone is honest about the door closing sound. It’s such an insipid measure of quality and the furthest down on my list of priorities.
Funny how 9/10 reviewers don't notice the trunk is 30L bigger than old Model 3. Sub woofer has been moved so there is a deep pocket on both sides now.
Where was it moved to?
@@rogershark9223 it is on the inside top of the trunk instead
I’ve preordered a RWD M3 Highland with FSD up in Canada and I can’t wait to take delivery! :)
I have Hankook on my Model X. 5% more range, 25% less tire wear so far. I’ll never go back to Continental.
Hankook ice (not ICE) tires are superior to Continental. Strangely, the Conti winters are limo quiet❤
Funny and nice to see that we had these kind videos in Germany last year in November. Mine is comming end of the month.
If you've ridden a motorcycle much at all, you're quite used to using your thumb to switch the signal lights. Now.... if we could get maybe a yoke with a twist throttle control, we'd be golden! ;)
That would be hilarious!😂
Get your motor runnin’
Actually makes sense, I think that it could be achievable by tapping into the throttle wire
Got mine (LR in ultra red / 19inch / black premium interior) two months ago ... I simply LOVE it! So easy and comfortable to drive, and I drove 6 different Mercedes cars over the last 15 years!!
My 2022 M3LR came with 18” Hankook tires and still have plenty of life on them after having driven about 40k miles. Tire shop was very surprised and said they should last another year.
Great interesting review. I also could care less about the fluff like ambient lighting, door close sound, minor panel gap differences. Cooled seats are cool, better range is nice, reduced sound is good but the previous models were quiet too IMO. Like the washer filler location (fewer spills). Like the rear camera button on the steering wheel. Like the blind spot monitor but the new indication on the screen works great too. Incredible efficiency. Thanks Chris!
It is great that you show details like the washer fluid fill location change. For me, I hate the old version won’t accept a whole container of fluid. I hope they updated that on the new version.
Great review. Some new things in here I haven't seen from others! Really excited to take delivery next month!
2 questions... If you have headphones on in the back can you listen to different Spotify than the front? And the auto settings on the interior light... Does it turn your LEDs red when you hit the brakes or the car slows?
I have the hankook evo ion tires on my model y performance, really like them. I have Martian 19” wheels. The combo reduced road rumble noise greatly, improved my ride comfort and gave me more range since I had 21” before.
The seatback pocket is where you put your umbrella. So yes, it's definitely useful!
Great vid! Question about the ambient lighting: other than looking hip, does it actually function to illuminate the cabin? If so, is it useful for finding dropped items on the seats or floor?
Thanks for mentioning the grab handle on exiting. I like to grab that thing while driving sometimes.
Next time try a soft reset of the Tesla to see how much time it takes compared to older versions. Also try the sentry mode to see if they improved the UI speed.
I got an intel and amd model3, the difference is insane. The Intel version requires 1-2 minutes for a reboot, the ryzen ~15s
thanks for great video help. Is driver's seat any higher in new Model 3 than the old Model 3?
Hankook tires are excellent
Are any of the USB ports data or are they power only? I know the one in the glovebox is data. Speaking of, is the glovebox usb port type C too?
Can you use a keyboard/mouse if you plug in a type c to usb adapter? Can you connect a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse?
Test drive one. Absolutely zero sales pressure unlike traditional dealerships.
Does (re)engaging Autopilot turn off the turn signal as it does in the 2023 MYLRHW4? When changing lanes I’ll start signaling and after a couple of flashes start sliding over, which disengages AP, then after getting mostly into the new lane I’ll reengage AP which finishes the lane centering and turns off the blink. You turned off the blink and then turned back on AP in you test, just hoping that wasn’t the required order.
I have Hankook ions on my M3P and they are great.
Can you review the new sound system please?
It has more bass, but it is not better.
Would love to know if new struts can fit older cars. Great review!
At least for europe it is pretty much confirmed that older Model 3 and Y with Matrix headlights are getting matrix functionality too. It appeared on a new type approval from early January 2024.
Is the acceleration boost still available on 2024 M3LR?
Fantastic, super-informative video, Chris! If FSD was transferable, I'd definitely be looking to upgrade my 2018 Model 3.
Never gonna be tansferable. Need you to upgrade to make stock go up. Thanksl
@@johnfurr6060 Actually for a short while last year they allowed you to transfer it to a new vehicle
It looks like this Q they may allow a transfer again, but they aren't going to include the new 3... at least for now.
@@johnfurr6060your comment didn't age well as they're going to open up a FSD transfer for a 2-month window shortly, but at this point it looks like it's not going to include the new highland 3 only the Y, S and X.
FSD transfer now available for new Model 3 orders, confirmed with them today, will be available in app after order
Great Video. Hankook is a top brand and a leader in the tire market.
Glovebox usb? Auto parallel and vertical parking? How did you engage autosteer?
It can't auto park for now. Autosteer is a single click of the right scroll wheel
Use long press on model- type-service to get service mode for Data
The BEST daily car in the world. 🌎
I have a '23 M3 Long range with those exact same wheels, Im in Maine btw, winter performance isn't good with them at all. Summer time is fine, but winter sucks
Can they make the the lower rear signal lights any smaller? (😏)
I have a Ford S-Max with headlights like this.. and it's 6 years old.. and it has a rain sensor which actually works believe it or not.
Just test drove the new RWD M3, sweet ride
If there was one car I'd recommend to a new EV buyer this would be it
Love it!
Hi Chris! How many miles/km's did it display at 80%? I was wondering, how many headphones can you connect to the rear screen to listen simultaneously?
I think 80% was showing 277 miles but I forgot to record it so take that with a grain of salt. Sorry!
@@DirtyTesla No problem, love your content anyway ;)
Is the truck lid now a hatchback?
Thank you for your review of the refreshed Model 3. It's VERY helpful.
If you have time, there are a few hings I’d like to have you explore:
Hardware 4
Practically speaking how is it different than Hardware 3? Does AutoPilot or FSD work better? Perhaps fewer errors?
Does Hardware 4 perform better with accident avoidance?
5G connectivity
The car is supposed to have better cellular service. What does that mean? Is the map data presented more quickly? Does music or video stream more reliably?
Improved Bluetooth
I’ve read that the car will recognize your phone from farther away? Are there any other benefits?
WiFi range is now dual band.
Does that mean it will be easier to connect to my router at home? Or that my WiFi downloads will be faster if I can connect with 5G instead of the 2.4G found in my Tesla Model 3?
Adaptive Matrix LED Lights
Are these new to Model 4? I gather they will be able to map out cars in front of you to avoid blinding other drivers. Does this mean you can stay on high-beam all the time?
Thanks again!
Henry
Henry F. Domke
Does this car have giga castings or stamped and welded front/rear construction? Does castings make any difference in the daily driving experience or only for the construction process or in accidents?
Only for construction process. Help to reduce the number of parts. Think about one casting part vs 150 stamped part. Doesn’t change anything in the driving experience. It has new suspension design for much better comfort. Try it
Wait, so the noise in the Model Y is 5 times louder than the new model 3. That's a lot! Super impressive!
Can't wait for a new version of the model Y!
I have adaptive headlights on my 2024 Integra Type S. I think they're great.
Why the thicker steering wheel. ?
Mine comes 22 feb! 🤩
14:36 yeah that would annoy me (i'm 6'4).
Is this better in the Model Y? This seat height?
Yes it's better in the Y but Def test drive first.
Did the demo have a Shanghai or Fremont VIN?
Drove one the other day for the first time in a Tesla. Was pretty good. Acclimated to the directional buttons easily. Needed a phd lab to get the most out of the 30 minuted test drive. Would be nice if the showroom would go over the controls befor the drive for those who never drove a Tesla. If they come out with a Plaid version it s/b a big seller.
Bring an accurate thermometer and see how accurate set temperatures are in the cabin. Model S is way off depending on outside temperature.
Im getting my daughter one for college No J Better get straight A’s 😅🎉🎉🎉🎉
You missed the ability to move the front passenger seat from the rear screen.
Im ordering one wich color
This is the perfect car. Huge aftermarket (additional screens or buttons) , massive online community for help and constant OTA updates. IMO last major issue is the repair costs and insurance.
Unfortunately it isn't perfect. As an european living in tight cities, not having a good 360 camera view is a dealbreaker for me (yes I know about the new 3d vision view). Also no stalks nonsense... In europe we have roundabouts almost every minute
@@EduMiguel16It's amazing that people driving for over 100 years ever survived w/o 360 cameras or 3D view😉
I have this exact car. I live in denmark, and to get to the highway from my home it takes about 4 minutes. In those 4 minutes i have to go trough 4 roundabouts. And they are not an issue with no stalks.@@EduMiguel16
New model 3 is clearly a huge step up in comfort, refinement and range and efficiency.
@@EduMiguel16 stop crying and test it yourself, I don't see any of your concerns
Is FSD Beta not available on the highland
Not yet, I heard the car has to be calibrated to FSD since it’s not identical to last years model
I want.... but I will have to live with my 21m3
How does the ride compare to your previous model X, and Model3? Looking for something that does not bounce so much and feel like riding in a truck on bumpy/poor roads.
It is light years ahead of the old 3, and imo comparable to the Model X. I think you'd be happy, definitely give it a test drive
Thanks much. I have a 2022 Model S and am not very happy with the ride at all. I upgraded from a 2018 M3.@@DirtyTesla
So the Cybertruck has a Front radar and camera so is that Hardware 4.5?
Cybertruck has front camera, no radar
@@DirtyTesla I misread the Parts Catalog than. I just checked again and is says Interior Radar. What is that for, Occupancy detection?
Are these available for test drive in Clarkston?
Yes, they have a single LR (this one) and are getting a RWD soon. So book the appointment, they said it's popular!
@@DirtyTesla cool! Thanks!
What processor did it have? They still using Ryzen?
Yeah still Ryzen
I can't wait to see what we get for the Performance model... or whatever they end up calling it
I think the looks of the car is a massive improvement over the previous model. I hate the aero wheels though, and I hate the lack of an instrument cluster. I like information, especially speed, directly in front of me. My car has a head-up display which indicates speed, and either cardinal direction or mapping directions, which I love. I might have considered a Tesla if it had a head-up display, but for me, having to look at the center display for my speed is ridiculous. I'm not buying a car that only has information in one central location. That is a non-starter for me. So I just bought a 2024 model vehicle, so I'm really expecting that in 10 years when I'm ready for an upgrade, the selection of BEVs will be greatly increased by that time.
Own a 2019 SR+ on 19's. Drove the 24 SR. The 24 is more refined at the cost of the car's sporty character. There is less steering feel and it feels as though the rack may be slightly slower. The 2024 is much slower and slightly heavier. It feels a second slower to 60. The new car has a smaller steering wheel and very slightly better sight lines with what seems to be a lower cowl height. Both a very easy cars to drive due to their easily anticipated control responses and great visibility. The 2024 would be too boring for me to enjoy like I do my 2019, but the Performance version of the 2024 may be the car for buyers who prioritize a little fun over refinement.
How's the interior feel space wise to you? I took one for a demo drive the other day and it felt a bit more cramped than my current Tesla. That was the only thing that was disappointing about it. The ride quality, build quality, cabin noise, steering wheel, etc was better, just the spacing inside felt tight.
Tighter than an old Model 3? I didn't notice that, even felt fine compared to my y
@@DirtyTesla Yeah that's how it felt. I don't know if it was seat position or having an older model 3 (2020) etc etc. I'll have to get out a tape measure next time around to see if it's actually a real difference or not.
Will order performance version once announced ASAP..
Does the car still stink when you turn the ac on? I hate that about my M3. I have to clean and replace the filter so frequently due to the smell.
What does it smell like?
I just ordered one and my wife is very sensitive to strong smells
@@bestman7776 intermittently it will smell like wet cat or soiled milk for 1 min when getting into the car.
it will be interesting to hear if this new car has that feature. A quick fix is to turn your heaters on max for 20 minutes when you at home. Burns off the moisture that collects.
@@edwardypark it might be old condensation that never got to evaporate. Does it happen in cold weather or hot weather?
Spray Lysol in the air intake with the setting on high a/c.
New to Tesla EV. Are the watts per mile. Good or bad. You mention the watts are crazy
Good! Crazy low haha
What games are included? Are some of the games missing from the rear display? How are you suppose to connect wired controllers? I prefer wired so I don't have to worry about keeping them charged / freezing the controller's batteries in the winter.
Hm interesting. The European Highland comes with Michelin e.Primacy.
There's not much I don't like about the new 3. I like the headlights, more than previously. I like the wheel covers on. I do not like the turn signals being the same rear lights as the brake lights.
The interior... I don't like the looks of the center console when the compartments are closed. However... At worst, I'd possibly keep the front compartment closed. I might keep the cup holders open - and at best, I'd keep both closed as often as possible to keep the inside of the compartments clean(er).
As for specific vehicle choice(s)... I've went from wanting one of each Tesla to only wanting the Y, Cybertruck and Roadster - preferably the Signature Series, which I'm guessing are all sold already. If I ever get to launch my business plans then I might get a fleet of semis.
what color is this?
Black
I'd pay a couple grand for matrix headlights for one of my 'old' BMWs, if they are as good as the best examples I've seen.
(haven't been able to find them yet)
12:15 I still don´t think, that a single led bar is ambient light on a real lvl....
What service center did you go to? I want to drive it!
Clarkston has it, book a test drive online
@@DirtyTesla ended up doing a self serve demo in Toledo. Definitely buying a new model 3 after that 😅 when I got back into my fusion and went to indicate I literally put my thumb on the steering wheel 😂 I like no stalks anyone who complains about it should really try it out first
You should do another video on your "TM3 delivery experience" .
I'm not buying this but am getting cybertruck
@@DirtyTesla Dayum.. that's even better.
Chris, you know your nonchalant placement of your arm on the top of the wheel might ki* you if the airbag goes off?
Get them down on 10 + 02 or lower.
This is why the yoke is superior and Tesla should put it on every vehicle
@DirtyTesla Yeah, I agree, but still, only if you remove your arms from the centre of the wheel 🙂
I would absolutely love to have a yoke with steer by wire on my vehicle.
I must be getting old. I just don't understand the coloured interior strip light. Perhaps this is a big thing for Chinese market?
Loo👀s like the old.
Does it charge faster?
The question is save a bunch on a used old 3 with fsd or buy new
Great question and hard to answer for anyone but yourself.
@@DirtyTesla well duh. Since you drove it I'm curious what you would do.
Can you turn off the interior camera? Maybe it’s active with fsd only. Perfect car otherwise.
You can cover it but fsd won't function if you do
Model Y will selling suv, model 3 best selling sedan and soon Cybertruck will be best selling truck..wow.. I have to believe this is the greatest product value every in history. you get so much for so less. Model Y is the only thing possibly better.
Can we talk about the tesla app for a second. Why isn't it possible to turn your headlights On and Off with the app. That seems like low hanging fruit. Flash function is ok i guess but if you forget your lights on, it would be nice to turn them off from your phone
Tesla will always turn all lights off. No need to worry
Someone has to get rid of the red dots on the tires
I think that new Model 3 may be my new dream car, but I think I’ll stick with my “old” 2023 MYLR when awake. The vapid “Tesla hasn’t updated its model line for years” mantra seems more ridiculous every quarter. Thanks for doing the review.
I noticed that they dropped the top speed to 125mph on both vehicles. Just curious if you know why
very few places where you can actually go over 75-80 legally, why is the outlier like the autobahn the worry?
Vin Diesel wannabees@@michaelkaster5058
Tires.
You don't want to drive this over 200 kph (125 mph) the windows start to vibrate and with the soft suspension, very little control. Feels like a boat. Not a pleasant experience. Testing on the German Autobahn.
The car's suspension is a lot softer with frequency dampers like Hyundai and other brands have in their vehicles for decades now. Plus the soft rubber makes the car over bumps feel great is a lot quieter than the prior model. But high speed highway driving, not even close to the German cars.
Great vehicle for the very bad roads you guys have in America. OMG they are truly bad.
The warmth you are feeling could be psychologocal, when I drive I am comfortable at around 21 Celsius, but when I activate FSD I need it at around 19 and sometimes even 17, depending on what I am wearing, and it is due to excitement.
Make teslafi data for your all cars
Let's buy one.....each.
12:38 Ambient light at least to me, has also to be found down below and pretty much all over the car.....
I might be a customer for the performance, but I'm going to need some heavy assurances about the rattles.
This single unit had no rattles, whatever that's worth
@@DirtyTesla creaking?
When you say the wheel looks good, did you mean it's actually fugly? I'm just messing with you Chris
15:50 It would be big, when it would be 1990..... As we have 2024, it is a small tablet....
❤❤❤
Great video as always!
Everyone in Australia losing their minds about the lack of stalks so had to make a video showing how easy it is th-cam.com/video/ImraaTKKTGc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BE2f2oeRON7DhKOo
Glad to hear you say you also prefer it, particularly as you've had much more experience from the Model X. I find that most of those who "hate them" simply haven't tried them, I know quite a few now who have thought they'd hate them but loved them within a few minutes of actually trying them with an open mind.
Also just got the update with the matrix headlights so will hopefully get a chance to make a video on them soon.
I had such high hopes of replacing my '18 M3 with a Highland 3 this year but across the reduced used car values, high loan rates, lack of tax credit, and counterpoint that says it's not that big of a change, I will wait. Counterpoint from 'Out of Spec': th-cam.com/video/A0F_CzPxwzw/w-d-xo.html
Is it hardware 3 or 4? No way I'm buying another 3 with hardware 3. If it's 4 I"m in.
GPT 4 says hardware 4. that's awesome. Sucks that we bought a 3 last year with Hardware 3. Thankfully we didn't buy FSD tho. THANKFULLY. Next Tesla will be 4 or 5. Now way I'm buying a version that likly can't run inference locally.
Love the content as always but hate the click-baity thumbnail. Gotta do what you gotta do, of course.
What specifically don't you like about it? Genuinely asking.
@@DirtyTesla Almost anything with Elon on it reflexively seems like click bait because so many garbage channels do that (I don't dislike Musk, btw). When I saw the thumbnail for this video, I almost clicked "don't recommend channel" until I saw it was you (at the last split second). I'm not a content creator so I don't know what's involved in producing these things. Veritasium has a great video on "the unreasonable effectiveness of clickbait", so if it brings in eyeballs I understand.
Try signaling (correctly) exiting 10 multi-lane roundabouts without stalks...
If your hands are in the right position on the wheel, the buttons are easier to reach than stalk would be
@jamesengland7461 Who drives like that constantly?.... 😅
moving critical lights for hazards and backup to the lower diffuser panel is a big mistake as this area is often totally covered in snow projected from wheels in colder climates
