As a kid my father owned a Vanguard just like the one in this video and my family of mum, dad and 7 kids piled into the Vanguard and travelled from Peterborough South Australia to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, a distance of 998 kilometres or around 620 miles in the extreme heat of an Australian summer with no airconditioner except for the warm breeze coming through the open windows. It was proven to be a very reliable car and we done that trip a few times to go and visit my grandparents.
Avenger of '72, an orange/tan saloon model, was our new smartass salesman's company car. Hated his guts 'cos mine, was just a K-reg little Morris 1100. Flogging diamond safes around the West Country didn't exactly fit the image with that little muddy white monster parked on their driveways. I quit soon after.
