Humphrey Bogart was one of the biggest, most well known movie stars in the world. Yes, its a real name. Or haven't you even seen Casablanca? VERY good Al Pacino (with Johnny Depp) movie: DONNIE BRASCO. A must-see. Scarface is a remake. The original movie was released in the 1930s.
@4:20 Humphrey Bogart is a classic movie star and actor. He starred in such films as Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, The African Queen, and many others.

A few years before this film and before she was famous Michelle Pfeiffer was a checker at the only grocery store at the time in my hometown. I was talking to her younger sister about it this past July.
Jobs like that are actually very common for actors in their early days of their career. A running joke in New York : "What do you say to the average actor when you see them? Answer: "Hey, Waiter!"
Something I've always noticed about Tony whenever I watch this movie, is that he left Cuba to get away from Castro and to get away from being bossed around all the time. However, when Tony became the boss of a vast drug empire with people under him, he eventually became a Castro himself, so to speak.
I always thought he was lying about being a REAL political refugee. He was probably a criminal back then too or his momma wouldn't have instantly known he was a criminal and KILLED someone when he went to visit her. This movie was set during the "Marialito" thing where Castro took advantage of the fact that Cuban Americans wanted to help their anti-Castro relatives join them in the US. Instead of letting real political activists out he really did empty his psych wards and jails. I 100 % believe Tony didn't care what the politics were. It was probably just easier to get away with being a big time drug dealer in the U.S. than in Cuba, so he left. His motivation isn't freedom, it is greed.
@@jacquelinecallejas1390 I never thought of it like that. I mean, I always knew that Tony had a criminal past because of the prison time and the tattoo and his mom's suspicions about the money, but I never thought of his reasons for coming to the US in that way. It does make sense though, considering Castro released almost nothing but criminals, and also because Tony gave no shits as long as he got rich.
@@jacquelinecallejas1390 That's exactly what he is. A criminal from Cuba. Castro emptied his jails and sent the prisoners to the US along with the other 100,000 refugees. It literally mentions it at the start of the movie. Tony and Manny met in jail. Tony has the assassins tattoo on his hand. He was also in the army.
The Cocaine Cowboys is a fantastic documentary about the cocaine trade in south Florida during this period in time. Part 2 is about the crack trade in the Oakland Bay Area that took place afterwards. Both are worth watching/reacting to
It always makes me laugh in this movie how the guy with the chainsaw doesn't drop it and run, he takes the chainsaw with him. It's like he's thinking... 'I paid $100 for this, I'm not leaving it here!'. 🤣
I've always loved Scarface, and I love 18:45 of this movie so much. It's such a pure moment because of Tony's honesty, he believes it completely. Like a child, that honest. I adore the depth in that line, "The world Chico, and everything in it". I wish Tony lived, great video.
Dude, Ashkon is a fly dancer for real!!! I'm not even joking. Confidence. Symbolisms. More passion. More passion. More passion. More passion. More energy. More energy. More energy. More energy.
"First you get the money, then you get the power, then you get the woman" i had a Scarface poster with that quote back in high school lol... i always be quoting tonys lines all the time..
20:12. I've always liked how the Mom smiles. She doesn't seem to care that a strange man is talking with her kids. And I'm sure she can hear what Tony is saying, but still thinks it funny. She doesn't freak out and tell Tony to stay away from her kids.
Guys you got to checkout “BLOW” Johnny Depp plays George Young. He wasn’t an immigrant like Tony but he had a similiar track in the path of the drug empire. Its an amazing movie and based in real life. At the ending credits they show a picture of the real George in prison.
That guy actually was released from prison before he died. He had the same self-inflicted wounds that did in Tony Montana. He let his greed and ambition overtake his common sense.
when he was criticized by much of the media for not doing any remotely "authentic" accent, like columbian, puerto rican, cuban, etc. he said he was going for the voice of a latin man who learned english by watching television. so by "nailed the accent perfectly", you must mean, for a tv show learner, not of any ethnicity or place of origin.
I don't think he was really trying to get the accent perfectly. He was over-accentuating it to make his character seem larger than life. Steven Bauer sounded a lot more like an average Cuban.
The World is Yours is a good "sequel" video game. Pretty much GTA style but is literally Scarface. Also Steven Bauer who played Manny does a voice for the game as well.
This movie is an absolute masterpiece! Another movie I love is the movie Blow. Based on a true story. I think you guys would enjoy it. Thank you for your hilarious reactions!!
Up there with some of the all time Greats in movie history! "Humphrey Bogart is not a real name is it?" A testament on how quick time flies. Household name, one of the biggest stars of the 20th century. 50 years later people can't believe his name is real. I don't blame ya, but it feels surreal to me.
25:50 you’re right to notice that, but I think it’s more showing his background. The lemon is for washing your fingers, but Tony grew up poor, not knowing if he’d have food on the table the next day. To him, he’s gonna eat that lemon, because that’s ingrained in him psychologically
Okay I didn't knew that. So Steven Bauer (Don Eladio), Mark Margolis (Hector Salamanca) and Miriam Colon ("Abuelita") all from Scarface who get choose by Vince Giligan to play in BB-BCS. He really wanted to make a tribute to Scarface. Is Vince Giligan consider Walter White as Tony Montana ?
Al Pacino is such a legitimately great actor. There's not too many that can go that over the top and still make it work. Not sure if it's considered a great movie or not, but The Devil's Advocate has one of his best performances ever. Kind of takes this kind of character straight over the top into supernatural-evil territory.
Maltese Falcon, Big Sleep, To Have and Have Not. Petrified Forest or Barefoot Contessa for earlier/later pictures. Key Largo’s a nice time, Angels With Dirty Faces hits strong in the feels, Cagney’s in that one as well
The symbolism of Tony eating the lemon, instead of cleaning his hands is to show he comes from poverty. Sosa wanted to use him because he thought he’d be easy to control.
I just recently came across your channel and i really enjoy both of you together and your commentary! This is one of my favorite movies in general especially gangster movies. Al Pacino amazing acting in this!

humphrey bogart was the most popular actor in the world for 11-12 years starting in the early 1940s, almost to the mid fifties. he was incidentally also the strongest chess players among all celebrities of all time, followed possibly by peter falk of columbo. bogart was just a hair below master level. you will recognize bogart and his voice when you get around to seeing him.
I don't know if you ever got that his sister and his friend were married. Note: The "Mariel Boatlift" of 1980 was a real Cuban exodus in which Castro virtually emptied his prisons into Florida.
This movie is such a great depiction of the entrepreneurial mindset but not the straight and narrow. There’s a lot of great quotes and lessons to be learned from his choices
Yeah , it's more like the flashy gangster life of Miami in the 80's. Still, even now, Miami has this flashy , showy ,superficial life that of lot of people , especially modern women, are drawn to there ! If you're looking for a nice serious relationship it's not really the kind of place to seek that !
People forget the symbolism tying heavy is the head that wears the crown...it is easier working to the top than watching your back when you get there...

Every time I make crème caramel for my wife, I hold it and yell ''Say hello, to my little flan!''.
After 5 years, I think she's tired of the joke. But I'll never stop.😂
Crème caramel. Flan. I’m gonna need a recipe, thanks
😂😂😂
daddy, chill.
LOL that sure does sound funny
Every time you make creme caramel, like why would you be making that dish so regularly it's so obscure, is it only so you can make that joke 😂
Hannah could pull off a Poison ivy Halloween costume pretty well
Facts 😂😂😂
Doesn't even need makeup or anything, just a leafy costume and bam

Hey Ash and Hannah, Fun fact: They really did hang a guy from a helicopter for that shot. ------- No dummy dolls were harmed here. No CGI involved while dangling that stuntman from the helicopter. ------ What a WILD ride, the 70's and 80's movie making had no hold barred.
I've watched like 7 different reactions to Scarface and yall had the best insight, humor, and reaction of em all! Two thumbs up!
A few years before this film and before she was famous Michelle Pfeiffer was a checker at the only grocery store at the time in my hometown. I was talking to her younger sister about it this past July.
Michelle pfeiffer is still gorgeous
Good point.
@@jacquelinecallejas1390Good point.
The Cocaine Cowboys is a fantastic documentary about the cocaine trade in south Florida during this period in time. Part 2 is about the crack trade in the Oakland Bay Area that took place afterwards. Both are worth watching/reacting to
I agree. I have watched Cocaine Cowboys.
It always makes me laugh in this movie how the guy with the chainsaw doesn't drop it and run, he takes the chainsaw with him. It's like he's thinking... 'I paid $100 for this, I'm not leaving it here!'. 🤣
He also runs past an injured guy with a gun on the floor instead of finishing him with the chainsaw
@@joelhungerford8388hahahah IKR
lmao yeah i always laughed how he just front flip out of there with the chainsaw and lands on his back all goofy haha
I've always loved Scarface, and I love 18:45 of this movie so much.
It's such a pure moment because of Tony's honesty, he believes it completely. Like a child, that honest.
I adore the depth in that line, "The world Chico, and everything in it".
I wish Tony lived, great video.
Thank you Hannah for the Grease introduction! Ash is so uncultured 🙃😂 LOL, great reaction to a fantastic film!
Grease reaction next? _Go greased lighting!_
She isn't far ahead of him in that regard. Not only doesn't she know of Humphrey Bogart, she doesn't even recognize Bogart as a real name. 🤦♂️
Hannah needs to have Ash on her channel to react to Grease, Mary Poppins, etc.
@@positivelynegative9149 why should she? that fella died long ago
@baokachi9767
Because she was surprised that Ash hasn't seen Grease; perhaps even giving him a little grief over it, in a good-natured way.
Dude, Ashkon is a fly dancer for real!!! I'm not even joking. Confidence. Symbolisms. More passion. More passion. More passion. More passion. More energy. More energy. More energy. More energy.

This is one of the top five greatest films ever made, in my opinion.
Great story. Great dialogue. Great characters.
Simply a classic.
Yeah man. Right up there with Scary Movie 2 and Freddie Got Fingered. All works of art.
Well good thing your not a movie critic cuz ur terrible and judging movies
The casting was spot on except for Michelle in my opinion
My favourite line is my girl Hannah "You cant leave the guy with no notice" LOL..Great reaction
Freedom town actually excisted in Miami during the 80s
20:12. I've always liked how the Mom smiles. She doesn't seem to care that a strange man is talking with her kids. And I'm sure she can hear what Tony is saying, but still thinks it funny. She doesn't freak out and tell Tony to stay away from her kids.
cool ass mom!
Yup. I noticed that, too.
Y'all should consider The Devil's Advocate. Al Pacino, Keanu Reeves, and Charlize Theron.
Guys you got to checkout “BLOW” Johnny Depp plays George Young. He wasn’t an immigrant like Tony but he had a similiar track in the path of the drug empire. Its an amazing movie and based in real life. At the ending credits they show a picture of the real George in prison.
Underappreciated film and one of his best performances
That guy actually was released from prison before he died. He had the same self-inflicted wounds that did in Tony Montana. He let his greed and ambition overtake his common sense.
Al Pacino nailed the accent perfectly. One of my favorite Pacino movies.
when he was criticized by much of the media for not doing any remotely "authentic" accent, like columbian, puerto rican, cuban, etc. he said he was going for the voice of a latin man who learned english by watching television. so by "nailed the accent perfectly", you must mean, for a tv show learner, not of any ethnicity or place of origin.
I work with a cuban man. Very nice guy. I gotta say Al Pacino nailed the accent sounds just like cuban Americans
FYI: The actress who Tony Montana's mother also played Tuco's Abuelita in "Better Call Saul."
This movie is an absolute masterpiece! Another movie I love is the movie Blow. Based on a true story. I think you guys would enjoy it. Thank you for your hilarious reactions!!
They modeled GTA VICE CITY from SCARFACE !!!
Up there with some of the all time Greats in movie history! Al Pacino delivers the best performance ever in this role, also the music score throughout the film makes some of these scenes more intense, suspenseful and intrigue. Great reaction team... you should also watch A Bronx Tale hes great in that also.
He wasn’t in a Bronx tale🤣

My favorite movie of all time. Crazy fact: This film was not nominated for a single Oscar award. Travesty.
The reason is this not that i agree but found this out years ago. They say the F bomb over 150 times
The Academy Awards are not "fair" by any means. Much of it is a rigged competition.
12:04 “BRUNO MARS” MAN CHICHI NEVER GETS CALLED HIS NAME LOL 😂
Yessss! Al Pacino is amazing!! I’d love to see you two react to The Devils Advocate.. I know you guys love Keanu Reeves also
"Humphrey Bogart is not a real name is it?" A testament on how quick time flies. Household name, one of the biggest stars of the 20th century. 50 years later people can't believe his name is real. I don't blame ya, but it feels surreal to me.
Lmfao “Ride or Die….BRUNO MARS!” 😂😅😂😅
Respect to Bruno Mars he took out a few guys at the end
Steven Spielberg directed the final batle scene through the house!
Not the whole scene, just part of it.😊
25:50 you’re right to notice that, but I think it’s more showing his background.
The lemon is for washing your fingers, but Tony grew up poor, not knowing if he’d have food on the table the next day. To him, he’s gonna eat that lemon, because that’s ingrained in him psychologically
I don't think I've seen Hannah get soooo drawn into the drama! You guys definitely show why this film is a classic, just a work of pure art.
This is my all time favorite film of all time, I've seen it about 50 times, love the fact that you decided to react to this film
Ash, if you've seen Better Call Saul, Tony's mother is played by the same actress who played Tuco's grandmother!
Humphrey Bogart was indeed a real person & actor! 😅
You need to check out Casablanca. & The African Queen.
Yup.

@757optim They probably didn't. They're too busy talking over the movie to pay attention.
Tony wasn't an innocent Cuban political refugee. He was a hardened murderous convict back in Cuba.
@@Joe-hh8gd Particularly at that moment.

"Hon relax! Your nipples are getting hard!" is my new favorite saying.
This movie is such a great depiction of the entrepreneurial mindset but not the straight and narrow. There’s a lot of great quotes and lessons to be learned from his choices
Yeah , it's more like the flashy gangster life of Miami in the 80's.
Still, even now, Miami has this flashy , showy ,superficial life that of lot of people
, especially modern women, are drawn to there !
If you're looking for a nice serious relationship it's not really the kind of place to
seek that !
People forget the symbolism tying heavy is the head that wears the crown...it is easier working to the top than watching your back when you get there...
"This is giving me GTA: Vice City vibes."
That'll be because Vice City was an homage to Scarface.
😅
As a movie lover and seen almost every film out there Scarface remains my personal favourite. I fell in love with it since I was like 10 year old now at 34 they put it on cinema.
