I love their music. It's the kind of music you sing your lungs out to and there's so much energy out of it, almost all of them make you euphoric! And I love their "weirdness", it's such a big mess (haha get it) and that's what makes them so unique. Honestly I don't know why so many ppl hate on them
AGREED!!! And I HATE the "Pop" music of today... Bland and homogenized for your consumption... I love this band though. I'd never heard of them before I saw them last month.... They BLEW ME AWAY!!! I didn't even see them as a pop band. They reminded me of bands in the mid-90's. All out, balls out kind of band.
Why? All for bands are top 40 (in Radiohead's case Top 5) artists who sell albums by the hundred thousand. Everyone, myself included, and their dog has those records. EDIT: But yeah, that Spiritualized LP is darn good.
Shame, Shame is a great place to start with Dr Dog. An album filled with memorable, catchy songs. Alas, no one will think you're cool or be impressed that you like it.
Love this series, hate the comment sections... too many people trying to flaunt their taste in music like a status symbol, some people just need to learn to enjoy the sound rather than make the music about them. In any case I enjoyed this episode, and personally I'd love to see a what's in my bag for July Talk. If you guys ever get the chance. :)
Yes, agreed... The internet has created a beacon of hate, in so many ways. You can say what you want behind a keyboard and not say anything to the person that disagrees with you... I WISH I could debate with some of the people on youtube EVEN over the PHONE!!! That would even do that SOME justice... If you don't like a band, at least give a few good points as to why you don't like them... Not just "They're Hipsters", or "They Suck" or "This is Trendy"... How about why? That's the big one... Somehow, no one can really answer that question...
"Some people just need to learn to enjoy the sound rather than try to make the music about them" wow, really hit the nail on the head, I agree so much.
It will pass, hopefully i remember hating beatles and refusing to like pop music i was stickly metal and punk, smashing pumpkins helped and majijuana to usher me into letting go and accepting everything and opening my mind once the floodgates of rabbit holes open theres no stopping it
omg, i love their music! i was like 6 when tongue tied came out & my parents got me into them when their second album came out. they’ve been one of my favorite bands since kindergarten/1st grade! 😁😁😁😁
That guy who pulled out sketches of Spain, television and to pimp a butterfly sounds like the guy who's taking his 2nd week of rock101 more seriously than anyone else
Their music is horrid. Their picks, however, were pretty good. I just think they're abit pretentious. They're the first band that pops into my head when someone says "Oh, you mean that indie band cliche, the one that I don't really like, what's the band?"
Kritzberg I've been listening to them a while, and been to a few live shows. honestly I think I like them more than their music lol. their live performances are awesome, one of the best I've seen, but their music is something that you have to have a weird taste to like. they do have a few that almost kind of made it to mainstream
As I watched this I thought to myself that if I was on this show I’d pick a spoon album, and the fact that she did (first time I’ve seen someone do that on what’s in my bag) was awesome!
Built to Spill - Keep it Like A Secret. Love that band, love that album. That song he was speking of Else is my favorite off the album. Can't tell you how many times I've listened to that song and just wept, not so much cause of the lyrics, but because the melody and his voice collectively have such a bittersweet sadness and mournful tone to them I can so feel.
I really love the couple! They are very themselves even if it’s a little pretentious at times haha. They are so sweet & have great taste & are very funny & cool
***** I'm sure he did listen to records, maybe just not that one. It's not like it was the biggest record of the year. A lot of people didn't like it as much as the older Tame Impala records.
love "Whats in My Bag" guys. Wondering if there may be a K-Flay episode in the future. Ive just gotten in to her and think that would be interesting. thanks !
We'll get right on that... We're always on the lookout for legends like him coming through LA and trying to get them in for an episode. It would be unreal to have him in.
Amoeba It actually would be incredible! With the release of his late 2016 album The Ship and the record that came out, not too long ago, I have a feeling he will be hopefully be in the States more often. If he still lives in the U.K, it may be a bit difficult.. who knows
themadbatter Hey man, I'm not big into their albums as a whole, but they have some great songs. 'I'm with you' is a good example. Their earlier albums have some goodies too. ( Gold Coast, Slow, Spun, Close Your Eyes And Count To Ten) etc. It's probably their label.
ikr, I not into the whole indie pop scene I like mumford and sons a lot but that's really it for the modern indie stuff. I'm more into the early 2000's indie
YO NINE INCH NAILS OMG, downwards spiral is an amazing album. march of the pigs, hurt. and omfg radiohead! and most of all, we got a strokes fan. I'm am freaking out jesus Christ. oh no and there is more. omg why are they mentioning every band I FUCKING LIKE I DONT KNOW ANYBODY WHO IS A FAN OF EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, and of course nirvana my god. am I overreacting?
You already know what jack white is gonna go for lol. Old blues records that sound like they got recorded by a potato or really hipster obscure shit lol same with his other band.
Dr Dog are so criminally underrated. Great to see them get a mention.
I love their music. It's the kind of music you sing your lungs out to and there's so much energy out of it, almost all of them make you euphoric! And I love their "weirdness", it's such a big mess (haha get it) and that's what makes them so unique. Honestly I don't know why so many ppl hate on them

I didn't know people hated on Grouplove. That makes me sad. They're so unique and have their own awesome sound that I love so much.
@@TranzparentMethods theyre literally pop music
they are good, mostly cute. but sometimes i find them to be very juvenile, like it’s some almost 40 something guys doing music for pre teens.
wait, there’s people that hate them?
Sigur Ros, Radiohead, Spiritualized, Miles Davis and Bojack Horseman. I should start listening to this band like, right now.
Why? All for bands are top 40 (in Radiohead's case Top 5) artists who sell albums by the hundred thousand. Everyone, myself included, and their dog has those records. EDIT: But yeah, that Spiritualized LP is darn good.
@@desperatemohammedantheworl5833 chill out, hipster
Grouplove is one of my all time favorite bands
Favorite influential artists & inspirational records! Thank you Amoeba for this great episode! ♡
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Shame, Shame is a great place to start with Dr Dog. An album filled with memorable, catchy songs.
Alas, no one will think you're cool or be impressed that you like it.
Excellent picks- Built to Spill, Sigur Ros, Dr. Dog, Car Seat Headrest.

Only 4 years late to the party on this one .... but yeah .. well said !!

GayDicks420 Who? Richard Hell? He didn't even play on Marquee.
PJ Yeah he did, bruh
One of the best choices list of the series!
I love that guy who shouted out Kendrick love this band even more might listen to all there suggestions
The fact she felt so strongly about the Edward scissorhands soundtrack made me automatically tear up.
Do you guys think you could get Bret Easton Ellis or Chuck Palahniuk on this? That would be really cool.
That would be great! We'll see what we can do.
Amoeba Maybe Quentin Tarantino? His love for diverse music would be incredible to see what he picks
@@Bodyknowledge77 no.
Great choices, Edward Scissorhands is my favorite soundtrack
I've never really listened to grouplove, but with their taste I should start.
they seem like nice people but their taste is leagues above their music
Their music is horrid. Their picks, however, were pretty good. I just think they're abit pretentious. They're the first band that pops into my head when someone says "Oh, you mean that indie band cliche, the one that I don't really like, what's the band?"

They are very interesting, deep, upbeat. I love them
Miles Davis, NIN, Julien Baker, Kendrick Lamar, & Nirvana are dope picks.
A lot of their picks are great incluiding Tame Impala, The Ink Spots, Television and Miles Davis.
Cage the Elephant - Whats in my bag
You got me at ( ). One of the most beautiful music records ever released I dare say.
As I watched this I thought to myself that if I was on this show I’d pick a spoon album, and the fact that she did (first time I’ve seen someone do that on what’s in my bag) was awesome!
spoon is awesome.
the fact that they like car seat headrest like yES
@@fancychannelname I've noticed that...

can yall make a playlist compilation of all the songs recommended throughout the series bc that would be dope
I love them
maybe this is why they make really really good music cos their music choices are pure gold.
Marquee Moon. One of my top albums ever and I am 58. Television were fantastic.
All of their picks are amazing
Amo essa banda, tenho todos os álbuns!
I really love the couple! They are very themselves even if it’s a little pretentious at times haha. They are so sweet & have great taste & are very funny & cool

it happens I haven't listened to it either nor the radiohead.there is other stuff out there man
Let's see...in the past year he has gotten married, had a baby, put out a new record and did a tour.....so I'd say he's been a little bit busy.
***** I'm sure he did listen to records, maybe just not that one. It's not like it was the biggest record of the year. A lot of people didn't like it as much as the older Tame Impala records.
so much better stuff to be aware of than tames 3rd effort lol smh.which btw caught the ear of a pop sensation. go figure
***** Lucky you! My favorite record of 2016 :)
solid picks I especially like the couples taste.
love "Whats in My Bag" guys. Wondering if there may be a K-Flay episode in the future. Ive just gotten in to her and think that would be interesting. thanks !
This makes me so happy 💓💓
That Spiritualized album is so god damn incredible.
Better than OK Computer in my opinion.
100 %
Better songs on OK Computer. Ladies and Gentlemen...is better to space out to, meditate, then start again.
Christian wore that dress gown thing Hannah's wearing when I saw them live, and also their kid, Willa, is going to have such good taste in music.
These guys just picked at least 5 of my favorite albums!!
Holy shit these guys are cool af. Def going to check them out now.

What was the groupthink song in the intro???
Good call on the television album. I thought the same thing but then my girlfriend mentioned wilco and I can hear it especially on sky blue sky.
@Amoeba you should try to get Brian Eno in. I mean at ur convenience of course:)
We'll get right on that... We're always on the lookout for legends like him coming through LA and trying to get them in for an episode. It would be unreal to have him in.
