Great to see another Scruffie 16 I was given one by a mate who was one of three mates who built her 15 years ago. I am currently restoring her back to her former glory with a well deserved refresh of the paint work and varnish. I love the rig you were using, we have only ever sailed with the main and genoa so I will be keen to try the storm jib as well in lighter winds. Is is the mizzen mast from the original build or a later addon? If you have any other videos that show the layout and rigging of your Scruffie I would love to see them.
The boat is No 74 and purchased/built in 1997. The boat was modified with a mizzen and Derek from Scruffie marine helped the original owner builder with this. I think it’s the only one it’s kind and Paul (the original builder) did a very nice job on it. I'm a member of the wooden boat Association Qld and take the Scruffie out regularly.
Looks nice. There seems to be a fair bit of noise coming through and I'm wondering if that is because of a fairly flat section of the bottom or is your microphone super sensitive. I have a Farr 6000 trailer-sailer (fibre-glass) and it hardly makes any noise except for a bit of slap in quite heavy weather.
A nice day out on the water is good for the soul.
It looks very nice and peaceful
Just love Messing about in small boats
This boat looks HUGE for a 16 footer!

Hi there, great boat! Do you by chance know of anyone selling a scruffie 16 in the Brisbane area? Cheers
There is one at Pialba Hervey bay for sale on gumtree.
Thanks for the reply! Sadly it’s a custom and doesn’t have a keel or sails etc... not a scruffie 16
@@jehualexander1559 there is a 12 footer on marketplace, they do come up from time to time. P.s Bribie Classic is on next month 29th & 30th May
Is that a lugger rigged yawl?
Boomless standing lug sail I believe.
Great vid dude, but get a dead cat for the mic. The wind noise is very annoying, thanx.
