I love that he has only 1 domain. Yet is one of the most powerful deities in dnd.

Binged dungeon cast and got 4 hours worth of house cleaning done instead. Keep up the good work :)

Fun fact! Silvanus is a ancient Roman god. He's pretty much acts similarly in irl mythology.

He also has a lot in common with the Slavic Leshi.

Cool, I thought it sounded familiar. I don't remember this god from AD&D but I had a Neutral Good, Half-Orc ranger/cleric named Uh'Laag Dawgson. Ul'laag was a member of The Makers. This was a society of ranger/clerics. A Marker can use natural resources, however, Uh'Laag must make something of equal or greater value. For instance, Uh'Laag can't cut down trees to build a wall around a village. However, Uh'Laag can cut down trees to build a wall around a village under the threat of an impending attack.

There must have been a lot of crossover in the early bronze age, because some of the skeletons near stone henge were found to have originated in the Italian peninsula. It's like were getting a glimpse into the original Pan-european pantheon.

    Dear Brian and Will,
Thank you once again for coming through with the come through. If you know what I 😭. Once again the dungeoncast was a fountain of knowledge for me. And I’m glad to say the random passengers in my car are hooked! So thank you 🙏

That was cool. Been binge watching your videos the last month or two. Love your work and I particularly enjoyed this one. Definitely going to include Sylvanus in my next campaign 😊

Love the content, and I am incredibly thankful you guys are putting in such hard work to bring us the Lore of D&D like this. The last couple episodes were kind of rough in terms of flow, I assume because of the remote recording. The long pauses are especially noticable in the podcast version of the episodes, as well as the start and stop that happens from not wanting to talk over each other. I've loved the show from early on and this isn't a big deal, I just wanted to mention it. Thanks for all you two do.

I have liked and commented! I continue to serve the natural dungeoncast!
I remember reading in my dads old adnd manual that brownies were little people that would sneak into peoples houses and start doing chores for them while they slept. However if a person found out about the brownie and started bragging they had one the brownie would leave.
This 3pisodes beholder beam makes sense, but I was thinking a balance beam that kills, or sprouts a tree as needed. Though how that would work mechanically would likely be more complicated.
Silvanus seems like a cool nature diety. Its nice that he doesn't seem to hate humans like you'll see some nature dwelling creatures do. In my own fantasy setting I made my mother nature equivalent a goddess named gerra who loves mankind. She fully supports all of the mortal races taking resources from her body (her body happens to be the planet itself though she will usually appear in an avatar to speak with someone when needed.) to achieve whatever goals they have. She doesn't grow angry at pollution, cor anything because she knows she can heal through it. She just wants her children to prosper. She views all mortal races as her adopted children in a sense. Even though they were all created by other divines, it is the food and water that comes from nature that has sustained them, and she loves them dearly as a mother figure. However she doesn't coddle them. All creatures from nature are her children, and she bestows her great compassion equally among all living creatures. She will not give you water, but she will create a stream so that you may find water yourself. She will not feed you, but she will provide you a forest with dear to hunt. That kind of thing. She will not take care of man, but she will provide all that man needs to care for himself. Through her gifts the various mortal races civilazations have reached great heights and she is immensely proud of them.

Hello!!! I have sooooo much to catch up on this channel! I remember always tuning in on here, but life happens and well ya know! I remember when I originally discovered your podcast years ago now! And I remember how ecstatic I felt when you guys gave me a shout out and read my now looking back silly words of wisdom on your Cleric episode. I'm so happy to see you are still making content! I never did start my own thing like I wanted too back then, but its not too late right? Anyway again I'm very happy to see you still active and I cant wait to where you keep going!

23:17 Brian has touched on something I see a lot of people confused by. What piety looks like depends on what the cleric, or religious person, reveres. I was once in a party with a war cleric, worshipping The Red Lady, a goddess of war and strategy, who's player said his character wouldn't be very "pious". But he mostly acted like a fairly ideal servant of a god of war. A strategist and a warrior.

  • @HenriFaust

A druid gets their spells from the divine power that pervades the natural world, while a nature cleric directly channels Silvanus' divine power. That means a druid can change deities without any issue, but a nature cleric may lose his powers.
