      They are pathetic in comparison to several TH-cam cooks. Of course they are better than Cooking with Jack or Kay's Cooking but anybody who can boil water is better than they are. I consider the "Normals" on Sorted to be par for TH-cam cooks. Anyone below their level of cooking should not be considered. Though it would be entertaining to see him go up against the likes of Uncle Roger or even The Mythical Kitchen it wouldn't be fair to Uncle Roger or The Mythical Kitchen.

    This recipe got me through some rough times in school. And I still love it to this day. It costs around 30 bucks for everything and will easily feed you for 2 weeks.
    1 large green onion stalk sliced(use 2 of there small), 1 clove of garlic minced, 1 chunk of ginger minced (roughly the size of your garlic clove) boil these in your water before you add the noodles, this will greatly amp up the flavor of your ramen.
    For toppings, you wanna slice up the greens of your green onion, soft boil an egg(roughly 6 min boil), and fry up a couple slices of bacon. Add a drizzle of soy sauce, and a cap of sesame oil to your bowl before pouring in the broth and noodles, top with the toppings and BOOM you got the best damn ramen bowl you can get at home. With only 15 ish mins of cook time.
    I usually use pork ramen, hence the bacon, but you can use whatever ramen you want.
    I should specify that I have a gas stove, so cook times may vary depending on how long it takes for things to reach a boil.

    What I usually do with instant ramen is par cook them and rinse with cold water from the tap. Instant ramen noodles are usually fried in the production process and this way you get rid of some of the oil on the noodles. But I really enjoy this brand and usually cook it more in a sort of Korean way: make a soup with onion, garlic, green onion, other vegetables and an easy to go protein like sliced chicken thighs or canned tuna (canned tuna is a classic) and I also often add a can of kimchi. I have yet to use cheese on ramen soup, but that's interesting. ;) I also add a little soy sauce, fish sauce and oyster sauce right to the soup and finish off with a bit of toasted sesame oil. One pot dish, just like most Koreans do their ramyun.

    Ok.. Since the ramen used here is Shin Ramen a Korean ramen and not a Japanese ramen the rules of acceptable ingredients with it are a bit different. Infact the mozzarella found in the special ingredients is a very common addition to this type of quick convenience store meals. Beside that in Korea you would use a dry type of mozzarella usually, or even American cheese. An ingredient introduced by American soldier during the Korean war and very commonly used. And to be honest cheese in Korean ramen is delicious. Their bold ingredients like kimchi and gojuchang just go perfectly with cheese.

    In a ramen challenge, both end up making pho
    Also fun fact, the Japanese will absolutely put cheese in their ramen, as well as butter and other staffs, it's not super usual but they aren't exactly dairy free menu

    still watching atm after the quiz, the cheese would be good if shredded and then baked into tuiles though it's obviously difficult to do that with the moist cheese. could fry the instant mash potato and get a crunchy texture maybe, idk if that'd work.

    I'm just glad that nobody got hurt here. I was REALLY concerned seeing that horrific amount of Carolina Reaper hot sauce.

    One of the things I love to do most with instant ramen like Shin Red is to use it as a vehicle for leftover meats and produce/veg not yet bad, but not in prime form. Last time I made it with leftover birria in Shin Red with some green onions and cilantro

      I love birria. Did you use the consome as the broth?

    • @SentientPickle
      @SentientPickle ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@majcrash I did indeed. I don't think poorly of the seasoning packets, maybe a little high is salt in many cases, I just think homemade broths or birria consomme are just so much more rich and flavorful

    You should do another one, normal pantry only, 3 judges 10 points max each and you lose 1 point/5minutes of cooking!

    Best challengers... Andong (mynameisabdong) and Andy (andycooks), I think. Though Andy lives in Australia, so that one might be harder to arrange, while Andong is in Germany, nice and easy for a fellow EU resident.
    I'm honestly a little surprised both you and the other team thought mozzarella was a sabotage. Dairy is a common component in Hokkaido ramen (one of the most popular styles is corn and butter ramen), and it's pretty common to melt mozzarella cheese specifically over top of ramyeon (Korean ramen). (Also anything else Koreans serve hot, really. Cheese dongasseu (tonkatsu), cheese deokbokki (chewy rice cakes in spicy sauce), cheese ramyeon, cheese bokkeumbap (fried rice)... heck, I think I've seen cheese hotdeok (sweet stuffed pancakes).)
