    They want people to ride RTD but they don’t want to do what it takes to keep RTD safe. Makes no sense.

    in Europe they have security guards on every train. why can't RTD budget for security for it's riders instead of stuffing RTD board members bank accounts? There are excellent models for public transportation that can be followed for a successful transport system, America is too tied up in profits to provide a proper transportation system.

      Well they are paying people hundreds of thousands a year to write schedules for buses that don’t run on schedules. Funding is not a problem-grift is

    I live in Philadelphia and see this a lot. It’s a sorry sight, and I while I don’t necessarily feel in danger, I hate to see it. This is why we need open injection sites. They can get supervision, but stay out of public places where they can cause distress.

      It’s time to address addiction in Denver and beyond, but especially in cold places where people love to do drugs that make their bodies warm or “feel nothing” at all - that way they’re impervious to freezing to death if it happens. I can’t say that I’d BLAME someone who was out on a below freezing night in the weather ALL day and night, no protection from the elements, I mean… it’s bound to happen that they’ll use a coping mechanism to make the feelings of grief and pain and cold go away, or they’ll die from the cold. It’s not a way to go… for sure. I don’t think I have ever seen so many homeless people walking around with almost NO clothing on as well. Yet, they seem to be buying some items, and one of them is obviously some janky substance that has them feeling wacked out. It’s basically an issue of, fix the problems associated with addiction, and have needle exchange AND USE sites where people can always just walk around with extra syringes and things like that… like, maybe codify something like, The CO Legislature decrees under blah blah SB# that we should fund the treatment of addiction, figure out using the scientific method, and evidence based medicinal research, to figure out what it does to the brain, how it changes a person over time, what it affects and what it causes one to hallucinate or make up, etc etc and literally just… study the behavior. Make a list of things that contribute to that behavior that don’t harm anyone else, because remember, not all of us can’t handle our drug use. Some of us don’t have problems, so much as we have pains that can’t be fixed with help from MD’s these days without a background check from everyone you’ve ever known, and even then, what they give you is changed so much now it doesn’t really help pain anymore. Especially the drugs tapered down with Naloxone already mixed with them. That’s like putting Narcan up someone’s nose, right after they had their “hit” so to speak, and it doesn’t help as much as some may think with lower “impact” opiates like hydrocodone and etc - now FENTANYL? It’s used to drug animals like rhinos. It’s bound to be potent AF, so, yeah 👍🏼 you probably SHOULD cut that with a little naloxone somehow, but either way it goes… people need more than just a fine or jail time or a slap on the wrist. I’m an upstanding citizen, who helps others, gives back, and more. I do it all because I want to, not because I have to…. BUT, I take certain substances that help me baseline function every day. Without them I wouldn’t be very productive TBH. So I don’t know… what to do about this situation specifically. This is essentially doing heroine, in essence, but I… don’t know… if they should be allowed to do it on Public Transit which is paid for with tax dollars. If you wanna do it, do it on your own time, on a street corner in the cold. Don’t expect to be in the warm cars with passengers who PAID their fares, doing your heroine substitute that could kill a small child, is kind of my standpoint tbh. I would be so angry if I were a parent and someone lit up that shit near me and my child. Duuuude - I’d go off. Talk about reporting some shit

    My family came to visit me in Denver. My 8 year old neice got to witness people shooting up for the first time and was fortunate enough to witness a stabbing while waiting for and riding RTD. This is what tourism is in Colorado and why most won't come back.

  • @stephenforbesjr8187
    @stephenforbesjr8187 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Yeah, RTD let some wack-a-doo on board for free while I, being a paying disabled pasenger was spit on by one of these creatures. Cops didnt do shit but take down his info. RTD needs face recognition tech to boot these undesirbles off RTD property, bus stops and all.

    Doesn’t the state give homeless people unlimited free RTD passes or something. So can’t they just ride the light rail all day if they wanted. Beats doing drugs outside in the cold. They might also feel they are less likely to be robbed by other addicts when are high and vulnerable on a bus.

  • @T1nTodd

    Should we test the trains and busses for contamination and shut them down if contaminated? Like the libraries recently. Can we sue RTD for contaminated transit?

    In WA state they send ticket checkers and police around all the Swift buses . They mostly just kicked people off at the next stop unless anyone had warrants. Assuming these people don’t pay and if they’re loitering it should be easy as that.

    This is all day everyday. They smoke and don’t care. They’ll put a coat over their head and don’t care. The bus and the train. It smells horrible

    If you announce a free babysitting program for junkies to distribute, sell, and use fentanyl while being kept warm and immune from prosecution- you are RTD. It’s Heaven to drug dealers- the drivers can’t even kick you off for smoking in the bus.

    The ones that don't take others into consideration is what really pisses me off.
    Get your fix, whatever, but don't do it around innocent others, don't leave your bags/foils/NEEDLES!!!! It's REALLLLYYY not that hard to have common courtesy....even with a hardcore addiction. Speak from experience 🙄😑🤬

      @blackout07blue ปีที่แล้ว +6

      We need enforcement too. Help them, sure, but we need to expel these people from areas where civilians are. Law-abiding citizens deserve 100% safety.

    • @SofaaKing2

      it not public at all... it is the problem of the USERS. If no one USED there would be no market. That being said I am OK with going after people like Biden, who are responsible for the mess.

    • @Necropheliac
      @Necropheliac ปีที่แล้ว

      Plenty of public health support in the county jail. I think we should lock them up and give them the resource in jail so they can get clean while not causing a health hazard to everyone who’s just trying to ride the bus and the train.

      Behavior like this demands removal from society. You smoke cigarettes in public you are scorned and fined. This is what Portland was 5 years ago and i never want to see Denver get that bad.

    They tell us drivers that once they take a hit that the smoke is NOT dangerous to anyone. They are not taking it as serious as it should be. A few drivers felt like they were having heat attacks after having been escaped. It's out of control
