Ducati Shopping Spree: Picking the perfect Hypermotard 698 Mono

  • After the dust had finally settled, I decided to revisit my order I placed with Ducati Worcester and customize the Hyper 698 to my liking.
    This won't be everyone choice, but for the riding i will be doing in the UK and already done similar configurations on my Hyper 950, I've added the comfort basics and will leave the rest of the modifications to do myself at a later stage.
    Let me know your thoughts..? Have you ordered one? Which model did you go for? What options did you select?

    I bought a 2022 950 Hyper SP, got a lot of grief from my buddies. I went for a ride with a buddy who has the V2 Panigale. We traded bikes and rode for about 30 mins and he pulled over and asked if I would sell the bike t him. The Hyper was better in every way, better torque, better handling, better on general roads, more fun and plenty fast. The V2 does not show it's muscle until way up in the RPM. I don't think the Hyper gets enough respect....that is until somebody rides one.

      100% mate.. on the roads its untouchable - you need a long straight like at mugello for a V2 to open up and pass it, but you’ll have it back in the corners 🤛🏼

      Sport and superbikes are garbage on public roads. Track is where they shine. Like driving an F1 car around town...would be miserable.

      Maybe.. if I can give the 698 the same attention I gave the 950 with reviews, ownership, mods, trackdays then might convice a few more

    Are you going to keep the 950SP? I'm struggling with the redundancy. So far, my only issue is the fact that it's even taller than both our Hyper SP and the competitor (701 & 690). We are both February babies. LOL

      Yeah I’m keeping the 950.. its already paid for so makes sense.
      The 698 I’ll see what the dealer can offer me in terms of rates or if I can whing an “influencer” discount.. put a deposit down, then 24-month payments and then buy it at the end.. which should give me spare change for upgrades and mods to video.

    I get it… it’s a Ducati but still a bit pricey. Plus is there no talk of an “sp” model? Or a v2 powered version? Pleased for ya.

      V2 Hyper 950 be too much power.. if it was detuned to about 125bhp that be oerfect for the trellis frame..

      Sorry but ducati did increase all bikes about 4-6% in october, even the ones that were sitting already in store

    I like the look of this. Be interesting comparing it to KTM’s 690.
    You’ll have the big and little brother Ducatis as I have the big and little brother KTM’s 😁

      Wheelie control only comes with the £2,500 Termi exhaust which makes it £2,800 optional extra - No thanks

    I’m struggling to see the appeal when you can pick up a brand new 690 supermoto for £8,800. It would be good if you could ride both and do a comparison!

      not for nearly £3,000 - you have to have the race exhaust with wheelie software together.
      I don’t get enjoyment/thrills from wheelies 😂

    For comparison, 2024 KTM 300 XCW dirtbike costs over $12k! So 11k for all the high end tech and components isnt that bad. That, and KTM is out of their freakin mind.

      Even I forgot about the components and electronics the 698 offers against the price..
      keeping the options minimal helps too

      Yeh.. they not cheap.. luckily you only need to do one or two for the warranty and any software updates.. i done most myself

      Also the ones like on your 950 (al-la Panigale up-pipes / Superbikes) would look pretty awesome 👍

    I got all excited about this bike... But then disappointed.
    Low torque = less fun.
    And with titanium, magnesium, light frame, light rims, lithium battery, smaller engine, smaller tank and it is still heavier than a KTM SMC-R 690.
    Why ?
    Less bike for more money just for a Ducati logo.
    No thanks.

      All valid points… yet the marketing suggests we not the ideal customer who will check/compare these against the competition

      Smcr is 163kg, Ducati without fuel 151 kg. 10liter fuel = 7,5 kg ... Why everyone says KTM is lighter ?
      And another Point is that (in Germany) 2024 KTM Bikes Starts at Bit over 12k €. Ducati is 12.390€. In my opinion its even, price and weight
