- This weeks been messy! Left for holidays on Wednesday and had two dry days at the start of the week to do a months worth of work!
Getting the cows out on Monday was a huge relief! (they came back in on Friday!)
Got to try a front mounted fertilizer spreader on Tuesday and it went so much better than I ever could have hoped! Full video to follow on that one!

Great Video, the issues with a wet spring! thanks for sharing
Great content,.its great to finally see cows in the field ... really interested to see how dual spreader worked out
Why thank you!
Yep weather definitely getting better from Wednesday. Lots of high pressure and stable weather
Great video getting better all the time can't wait till next week's video cheers
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Our cows always starting mooing to be out several weeks before there was enough grass, it didn’t matter how much i explained to them that it was too cold and wet.😊
Love your videos would you not consider using a quad and trailed sower
Good stuff...ur setup with great
Great set up love the videos and the content
Appreciate it!
Brilliant video
great to see cows out if only the weather would pickup, keep up the good content
Great vid as usual thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video's 👍💯👍💯👍💯
The dual spreader has to be a great idea with the ground conditions and the weather. Half the time, half the tracks.
It helped me out so much!
Do you have some basic identification when the cows have poached too much.
When they stop grazing the grass and are tramping it is a good guide. You can only get away with once or twice a year. You can damage a field repeatedly or you need to do a reseed
What about the depth that the hoof goes into the ground. Too what depth would you say that ground would recover on it own without any need of mechanical intervention.
I like the dual spreader setup. It looks quite the beast. I really enjoy your channel content.
What do you use for your editing software? You near scared the begebers out of me when you played the music just after you were talking. I did a quick test with my dB meter. You were talking along, and I had the volume adjusted to a nice 58dB. Then, when the music came on, it jumped to 82dB. An instant 24dB jump. It’d be nice if you could balance out your volumes a bit.
Interesting! I use cap cut, that's happened before, I must keep a closer eye on it! It's a good setup for sure. I really liked it. 👍
Boys its great to see cows out, preferably in ideal conditions . Sower setup looks well. Reseeding is a good job, expensive job . Only thing is reseeded ground bes soft for a couple years. Older established leys can stand a bit more abuse.
Yeah, reseeds dry faster but when they get wet you make a mess. We have done a heck of a lot of reseeding!
I prefer an autumn reseed (weather permitting). I think there's less weed burden following year, if you get it sprayed in time
Good man.
Rather than ploughing the damaged ground would a spring harrow with a quad seeder be better and just rejuvenate them ?
I'm a big fan of ploughing. If you're going to the cost of the seed it's half the cost of a full reseed paid for.
Why not put the front spreader on the rear since it's taller?
Hyd drive has to be on the front.
@@FarmTheoryNI why so?
That some looking out fit.cover some ground in day
👍👍👍.
will you still let your cows out on wet days or just out on dry days........personally i don't think it's wise making too much mess in the spring ......it seems to take halve the growing season for it to recover again
They go out almost every day until October. We will house them when we absolutely HAVE to! The issue is managing grass growth to maintain quality, that's a bigger challenge than marking some fields.
The Met Office website indicates high pressure from Wednesday morning. We'll see how it develops.
You mentioned compaction, would you consider mounting your spreader on a trailed bogey?
Maybe, however a better idea would be following the same tracks each time. 🤔
That's a lot of pound notes out euros spread across the farm.
Looked good.
Remember and wash that tractor after all that fert spreading 😂. Great looking set up. 💪
Your vids are ace btw, always look forward to the next one. 👌
Thank you! It got a good wash! 😅
Getting stuck would have made a brilliant video all the same😂
It would have! I never would have lived it down .... I would forever be the idiot who tried to sow fertiliser with a 285hp tractor and two fert spreaders. 😅
@@FarmTheoryNIbut yea didn't get stuck and the outfit traveled pretty well!!
What do you think this is? Tom Pemberton? 😂
Good video but I would not want my field like that
It's not the best. 😅
Zero graze might be option for u
Not a fan at all.
Shame on those whose cows only see concrete all the year round in the name of efficiency.
My cows want back in the house after the first few days out. 😅 I do like seeing them out also!
Mate you dont have any cows what would you know? Get off daddys computer
@@concernedcitizen3163 ......I do have a fair few cows, 200 to be exact, my father is dead, and I know that cows are living creatures, not machines.
