Great video. May have to give these guys a try. My favorite bay rum is St. Charles Shave Bay Rum with a Twist, but they don't make it anymore as the perfumer tragically succumbed to breast cancer. Ogallala Bay Rum is excellent. Geo Trumper, St. John's, and Royall all make good ones as well.
These fragrance aftershaves of Bay Rum sound very intriguing. I think I should try the ones with frankincense and myrrh, along with the fragrance with gunsmoke. Thanks for sharing, Mr. Daver!!! Have a great day and great weekend!!!!
I have over 100 fragrances in my collection and have tried numerous samples from PAA. A few might now have fit my mood or style at the time of purchase (though did later), but out of all of them absolutely none struck me as synthetic. A real treat for sure.
PAA Is HUGE in the wet shaving community and makes fantastic products. As far as their bay rum scents, I've only tried the Atomic, but many of those you mentioned I would like to try.
I love the atomic age. I’ve had the solid for about 2 years and it smells even more dank now I love it. Got the atomic pumpkin solid on the way because the soap was dope.
One thing I like about this company is their customer service. From order to shipment they let you know what is going on with your order. A lot of company's fail in this area where Phoenix shines.
Thank God you made this video! I love a great bay rum! And it’s so hard to find a good one. Weird fact, they use it a lot in the cat show world. ( don’t ask me how I know that) but I loved it. And haven’t found anything that compares. Or get the feel of what I’ve been missing . I’m going to all over getting samples on some of those. Anyway, I am in need of a suggestion not related to BayRum: You might have already done a video on this and I’m just not seeing it when running thru your videos and playlists If so please pop me a link if you have time. I have a coworker/ kind of view him as a little bro especially since both his parents passed away. Anyway, long story long - he is getting married late spring/early summer 2023 outside in the south (Atlanta) at a golf club (hot and muggy is almost a given). And I want to do something kind of special for him, by finding a fragrance for his special day that is both something he will love and appreciate while also being appropriate for the season and occasion which will be formal attire. Not necessarily looking for a designer but also not apposed to it. Kinda aiming for more indie and individualistic. Don’t really want him smelling like the masses. What would be a few of your recommendations? I plan on buying him samples to try them out and then once he decides on a favorite, gift him with a bottle. Your advice would be so helpful.
I usually recommend a few different brands for something like this. I think almost anything from Creed, Frapin, or Argos are exceptional and smell special. They are on the expensive side (though you can find deals for Creed here and there). But I think they're worth it.
Bay Rums just sounds fantastic and I like the way it rolls off the tongue. While I do like/enjoy Bay Rum products...well, they just never lived up to my expectations. Sadly, the name sounds better to my ears when it smells to my nose. Enjoyed the episode...I'll check 'em out should my nose change in the future. Cheers!
I'm so glad you have love for PAA products. As aftershave, what about the jelly type after shave compared to aftershave & cologne type? Jelly type still has enough same scent strength? I have PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum shave soap.
I LOOOOVE their Star Jelly aftershaves! I actually prefer it to traditional aftershave. I like how it feels on skin, and doesn't burn like regular aftershave (and is less messy). They also have a shave balm that is more like a thick lotion. I haven't tested how strong their are compared to the aftershaves, but I would assume they're probably not as strong (I might be wrong).
We use Bay Rum as relief for headsches, fever and pains in the .joints . Neck, knees and ankles. Satturate a small towel and tie it on the forehead and also pour some on the crown of the head.
How strong is their aftershave cologne compared to regular cologne? Meaning does it last throughout the day? I thought about using PAA aftershave as a lighter powered cologne, but was wondering if it would last throughout the day.
Bat Rum is used for medical purposes for most people in the West Indies. Ot's not consumed as far as know. It is bery hard to find here in the U.S. I'm thinking that I might order one of these brands. Thanks for the information. Very much appreciated.
PAA is great. It has that mid-west, larger-than-life personality. Frostbyte aftershave is a must, especially after a long day of working in the heat. Take a late day shower, slap some of this on and feel the relaxation.
@@FragranceBros Those are his versions of Old Spice, Seaforth Spiced, Brut, and Pinaud Clubman (respectively). Speak Easy is probably his best original fragrance.
Love Phoenix A. I bought alot of scents samples from them to sample after your last video . " What is goin on at Phoenix.." when it came to the bay rums very good an I wasn't a big fan of bay rums .. gonna have to re visit them I know I wanted to pick one of their bay rum insp. Tho
I can see these being polarizing scents--especially the traditional options they have. But other flankers are more accessible to people who might not like the overly spicy bay rum accord. 🙂
@@FragranceBros Yo picked up fresco Soo good . I'm a big fan of the mature ol skool vibes fougeres chypre an barbershops still want to sample their whole catalog thank you for bringing this co. To my attention .
YES! Fresco is one of my favorites from them. If you like old-school frags, PAA is perfect for you. lol. Have you tried Black Bot. I don't know if that's a limited release, but it's a fantastic masculine chypre.
PAA has to be my favorite company when it comes to shaving products. Super innovative and their scents are out of this world. I've only tried Atomic age bay rum, but I'm planning on getting more. By FAR the best one imo when compared to all others on the market.
yes! They have a fragrance called Tetra Preta that has real vetiver grass in the bottle. I think that's a limited edition, though. But they have some others with vetiver. Lots of great options for fragheads.
If we're talking about any choice, including seasonal releases, probably the Butter Rum one or Atomic Pumpkin. But out of the regular releases, I like the original Atomic or the Coconut.
they're pretty similar, and I don't know if the difference is that apparent when wearing them on separate days. Since Classico is made with essential oils, I find it to be a little more forward on the citrus a bit, and not quite as refined. Atomic is a little more refined, less citrus, and maybe a little bit more "dry" of a smell. Both are great though, and PAA has a great sample service if you ever want to try them both.
it depends on which concentration you get. The EDP is always going to be better. And I find they last a long time. But even the aftershave is pretty good. Obviously not super strong, but I find I still get hints of it a few hours later.
I just found this video. It's awesome. Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Atomic Age Bay Rum is my favorite all-time bay rum and has moved itself into my Top-10 overall fragrances. I also like PAA's Coconut Bay with Lime. On a cheap, side brand, that wasn't shown on the video, I highly suggest Gabels Bay Rum. It's very, very, very good and the price is super cheap. PAA's Christmas-time limited release (every Christmas season you can buy it) is Kiritimati. It's probably not for everyone but I really like it.
Remember when Phoenix AA lied about the ingredients in their soaps and made up fake social media profiles to positively review his own products? Pepperidge Farm remembers...
They must have done a lot of damage control or something. I wasn’t around for it initially as I’ve only recently got into wetshaving recently, but I cam across it initially as a comment on a youtube shave video. Even trying to actively research it it was hard to figure out what really happened. Either they were really good at silencing people or maybe their products are so good that nobody cares/cared. Admittedly I have thought about ordering from them because I do think they have a well rounded product live, but so far I haven’t. I usually order from maggard which I think is at least one company that decided to not carry them, but again I don’t know the whole story
Thank you for the review. Based on your recommendation, I invested $65 and ordered one of each of the Bay Rum aftershave: the Atomic and the Clasico. Considering I live only 40 miles away from their location in Casa Grande, Arizona, there was no shipping discount, and I paid tax too. I'll report back if the investment was worth it. Ordered April 17, 2022.
Okay @Fragrance Bros. : You have a winner! The two bottles I ordered are fantastic. They are similar in fragrance and really good. The packaging was superior to anything I saw before, as the bottle had a piece of styrofoam to compress on the cap inside the cardboard box. The box was placed in a ziplock bag and each bottle was wrapped with soft foam! THAT is shipping quality! Thank you for the recommendation.
Nice video. PAA is a marketing genius, his artwork, bottles, marketing and products set him apart from anyone our there. That's said, bay rum is not my vibe.
I'm a BIG fan of Bay Rum after shave. Dominican was my fav. Considering all the press I've seen about the Phoenix Co.I could not wait to try this new "Atomic Age Bay Rum". It smells NOTHING like bay rum. Not only THAT; I had to walk around for several hours smelling like a cheap New Orleans pimp. (Plus the label looks like one of those 1960's Wacky bubble gum cards). Don't waste the 30 bucks. Your wife will thank you.
Now wait a minute. I'm no connoisseur of bay rum, but even I have smelled enough to know Atomic is a good representation of it. Maybe it's not your flavor, but it's definitely bay rum.
@@FragranceBros Now hear me out: I know your company infused this after shave with genuine tropical bay. And I will confess, there was a slight whiff of the thing. But if I make a pot of chili, and use genuine chili powder-then add lemon zest and rose water (to give an exotic Arabian kick) it no longer resembles any chili I ever had. Therein lies problem.
