I just managed to get the battery out!
      Jippiii !!!
The battery had swollen up. so it did not come out if you pull on the cable. but it works with a thin knife (and rust remover to make it slippy) and a nail polish remover (
to dissolve glue) slowly with small movements, the knife slips along the battery. and I always dripped some nail polish remover. At some point I was able to move the battery to the left and right. and then it came out.

Just replaced mine. Agreed that the tools that come with the one on Amazon are useless. Battery was really tough to get out (accidentally slightly punctured mine, be careful!), what worked for me was using some olive oil on a butter knife and sliding it on each side of the battery, then using a small wooden dowel and a hammer to gently nudge it out from the other end. Have it all put back together and it's working great now!

Man, you are a lifesaver, my battery was so stuck that I ripped off the cable. My first thought was to forget it and throw it away because maybe the battery will explode in my hands... then I found your solution, so I used a Stainless Steel Locksmith Padlock Lock Picks and brought tiny drops of oil around the battery. Then I let it rest for a day and now and then I tried to go around with the tool. The next day I opened the other side, where you can see the battery, and pushed it out with a piece of metal with a flat head...outside on my balcony to be safe.... and the battery came out very easily oh and to have an unobstructed view of the battery I had to remove the 4 screws of the on of the switch, take out a small white jumper and you can push it outside

WORTH REATING: "VERY IMPORTANT...You need to remove the 5 screws first to remove the side case cover!" The person on the video skips this part at 1:43. The cap/end doesn't magically come off without removing those screws.

Getting the battery out is not as simple as it looks. There's some kind of adhesive or sticky stuff inside of there. You have to wiggle the battery back and forth slowly pull it up it is actually a pain in the butt.

I put two chopsticks (flat side as not to puncture it) from the other side. They fit snug right through the wiring to touch the back of the battery. I banged the sticks at the same time gently to nudge it out. Once half way I was able to pull it out with my hands. Old battery looked expanded, possibly because of over heating. I put in the new battery minus the foam buffers so it wasn’t so snug. Seems to be working fine.

So I buy the speaker and I have to buy extra batteries because after half a year will start to fail and will not hold the charge. And all this you have to discover it after changing your speakers three times. But they don’t tell you nothing, not even in the reviews. 🙄 I’m not buying JBL speakers again.

For those complaining that its difficult to get the old battery out. That happens depending on how much and if the old battery is swollen up. Mine was "really" stuck but no problem to get out. The battery is not as wide as the slot so you can get down either side with little hook tools and pull the bugger out.

Thanks for posting this! I was able to replace the battery in mine based on the info in this video combined with various comments. It would have been nice if the video showed you how to get the old battery out, though (hence why I had to go to the comments as well). That shit was a bitch and a half, but the good news is that I didn't burn myself, start a fire, cause the battery to explode, or cause any non-cosmetic damage to my speaker (that I know of, so far. I have yet to charge it up all the way and test it. Just finished. Only turned it on long enough to make sure it powers on and plays sound. Going to charge it when I get home in a little bit and see how long it lasts before it dies after it is fully charged, but so far so good)

    • @nghtryde8396

Wow! 👍 Thanks for the Info! I've been using my flip 4 in the cup holder on my bike and strapped to my paddleboard in saltwater for over a year!
It has been Fantastic little 🔊for me, especially paying $20 for it slightly used... Recently it started shutting down within 10 minutes! So I contemplated buying a new speaker thinking mine was worn out... But decided to buy this battery instead, after watching this video I thought it would be a piece of 🎂...
As you can see in the video the battery was already removed, so it had already been opened!
After reading the comments here I went to the Dollar Tree and purchased 1) Eye glass screw drivers 2)Safety glasses 3)Gloves 4)Corkscrew 5)coconut oil!
The video is on point all the way to battery removal witch they didn't show... I used a sharp knife and went down all 4 sides of the battery to detach the adhesive and pulled the wires until they ripped out!
Then I put my dollar store gloves and glasses on as recommended on this board and proceeded to screw the corkscrew into the battery about 3/4 in! I pulled and rocked side to side regrouping a couple times and finally broke loose! New battery slipped right in... Make sure you fold the wires to the center of the battery so it's not covering the screw hole for the cover... Put a dap of coconut oil on each screw and screw hole and it went together like butter! Grand total $26 and my flip 4 is better than new! Hope this helps and Thank you for corkscrew advice! I would have never thought of that!
      Cheers Bobby

If you're having trouble removing the defective battery, i suggest carefully drilling a hole on the bottom side of the plastic battery housing (careful not to drill into battery). You can then stick a screwdriver in there and push the battery out with some force.

    • @1gesteban
      @1gesteban ปีที่แล้ว

I found that pulling it by the wires and using the assistance of a very small screwdriver on the opposite side of the wires will eventually get the battery to come loose. You do have to work it, though, .... by moving the battery around as you pull. But good idea on the drilling technique.

Take note- I saw a video of someone taking out the battery and broke it. There was this one comment stating that you can actually remove the other side to push it out. But what I did was a little different- I also removed the USB charger (or connector) so it moves out of the way, then with an acrylic-wooden chopstick (recommended to use a metal rod instead lol) and a hammer, I carefully hammered it out of the Flip 4. Beware of the white cable while hammering it out as you may break the wire.
*Also do note of the speakers magnetism, I literally scratched the diaphragm q.q Anyone has recommendations for me to replace my speaker diaphragm?*
Take these steps cautiously, then replace the battery. It should be working fine like wine once you got it right. Though careful when you hammer it out- hammer it softly and consistently so that you don't have an exploding battery in front of you.

This video makes everybody believe it's an easy porcess so just buy the battery from them and and do the job in 5 minutes. Well, it's true: dismounting the case is relatively easy. What it does not show at all is the removal of the old battery. I replaced the battery in my son's JBL flip4 - removing the old battery was a nightmare I can tell you. The original old battery is nested into a soft spongue-like plastic which is very sticky. The whole thing is pushed into its very tight place in the case. Grabbing the disconnected cabling and pulling out was not successful: the cable torn out and I couldn't even grab the stucked battery to pull it out. I tried picking out with a screwdriver and with a knife - YOU DON'T DO THAT, IT'S DANGEROUS: THE METAL TOOL SHORTCUTS THE BATTERY WHICH HEATS UP IN A SECOND AND CAN CAUSE FIRE!!!
At the end I removed the round case cover with the "!" sign on the other end of the case, removed the connector block and carefully pushed out the old battery with an appropriate non-conductor stick like a pencil. This video is much more useful, it shows you this process too.

My JBL Flip 4 not only had 5 screws around the cap but also they were plastic soft and I could only unscrew 3 of them and got blocked with 2. Ok I got pissed because I am sure it was meant to be shitty screws so people won't have an easy time replacing the battery in it. But what shocked was that the battery was glued inside after I destroyed the cap to get in it just to see if it will be possible to replace it. JBL made it on purpose like that I am sure. What we see here in these teardowns does not reflect reality. I literally paid for a battery and I couldn't replace it...

Make sure your battery charge is dead, deader than dead even.... I put on gloves and safety glasses... and I used a corkscrew.. and it worked flawless. AT your own risk. Puncturing a lithium/ion battery is dangerous. Thats why Im saying I did it this way, and not, that you should... but... short of corkscrew, you need a device that can grab it to pull it out... The upside... once i replaced my battery in my flip... it is now better than it was new!!!! No joke. Need a tutorial vid from start to finish... maybe i make....

Hello, I would like to remove a question. I bought a battery like this for my Flip4 and it made the exchange, but after installation when turning on the box I found that the battery level was very low with the red led flashing. I wonder if it is normal for the battery to come without any charge? Thank you very much in advance.

I always loved my jbl until now. I’ve had it for maybe a year and haven’t over used it. The battery won’t fully charge (even though it shows full charge) and when I use it, the battery lasts maybe 15 minutes. This looks like a long process and I’d rather just buy a new speaker. probably won’t be another jbl if they are known for this problem

I had the same problem. Its cause the battery is dead. It needs to be replaced. The battery that you need to replace your flip 4 with is: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CZCFGTB/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
There are videos on you tube that show how to dismantle the flip 4... remove your battery with extreme caution if you are going to do it in any way shape or form that damages the battery, ie, a corkscrew... (like i did). I got away with it... but i wouldn't recommend. Batteries tend to explode upon puncture... at least make sure there is no charge left at all....

if your going to make a video, you should do it properly and show ALL THE STEPS!!!!! There are several screws on the battery side exterior panel that have to be removed before the video shows him simply twisting it off. These panels seem to be affixed to the case, mine was a bitch to remove AFTER getting the screws off. It broke partially in two. I will have to super glue it together before putting it back on. Then the battery has already been removed so he doesn't show how difficult and tight the battery is inside to get out.
