    An interesting fact - Kastners granddaughter is Meirav Michaeli, the current leader of the Avoda party

    • @herzl67
      @herzl67 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which she managed to bring down to 3.7%. Like her grandfather she is part of the old outdated Israeli elites that are not accepting the last election results. She is a radical feminist, running very aggressive campains agains religious Jews. I am not sure Kastner was an angel. We will never know all about his connections to Eichmann.

    Yes he did. Eichman admitted that he didn't have enough SS men to contain a jewish revolt and Kasztner still refused to tell the Hungarians about the report knowing that they would die.

    It’s difficult to explain the extent of the mind games, the torment and the levels of legal coercion and mental blackmail that the Nazis inflicted specifically on the Hungarian Jews to inflict pain upon other Jews during the holocaust. The rest of the outside world including the outside Jewish world will never fully comprehend it.

  • @Jesse3beards

    I’m sorry, but I don’t find this very convincing… i have heard of *many* very active acts of collaboration kazstner took part in. It was not just some conversation with Eichmann. Nor was it a simple exchange of money for lives, a la Schindler. He agreed to pacify the Hungarian Jews by not telling them the facts he knew, such as what he knew from the Vrba-Wetzler report. While it would be hard for Kazstner to know this: Eichmann has said that were it not for passivity in the Hungarian Jewish population, they would not have been able to expel the Jews in the manner that they did. Many could have been saved.
    While there is obviously no final truth to be discovered about Kasztner, I don’t think it’s fair to compare the criticisms levied against him with the hatred survivors faced in Israel. He was not criticized simply for being a survivor, but others of lower standing were.

    I would suggest reading the book Perfidy by Ben Hecht. It lays out the questionable things that Kastner did, while not excusing the Revisionists. It also discusses the anti-religious biases of the Socialists in power in Israel.

    You have conveniently left out the damning book written by Ben Hecht: "Perfidy" which gives a totally different (and accurate) account of the affair. You have left out many important facts which whitewash Kastner. The first trial judge said, "He didn't sell his soul to the devil; he was the devil." This is not up to Unpacked's usual good video. Read Hecht's book and redo this video. Shame.

      I read the wikipedia for the book and some of the linked reviews and it was written in 1960s by a very biased author and contains lots of historical inaccuracies. It also only covers the original trial not the subsequent trial which overturned the first trial.

    Thank you so much for this amazing video, especially because this gives me the idea of my own identity as a Jewish soul. And that is: when it comes to ISRAEL, I am a hard core Revisionist, with a heart full of emotional connection with the Holocaust survivors. It's the courage, faith and zeal for life which made sure that they survive and became a beacon of hope and faith for the nation of ISRAEL till eternity. Holocaust alone as a documented factual history with all it's complexities is a genuine, fair and legal case for Zionism as well as ISRAEL as a nation of people with land, sovereign, security, recognition and entitlement.

    Most Danish Jews survived because someone tipped them off.
    Bu the time the Hungarian Holocaust began most people knew what was happening in the German camps. The Polish government in exile had informed the British government.
    Most Hungarian Jews were literate and had access to information especially those who had served in the Austrian military.
    They should have fled the moment the Germans invaded Hungary. Because Horthy would not be able to keep procrastinating the German request for Jewish deportations once the Germans took over.
    It's kind of twisted how the Germans knew they were losing the War and yet double downed on the genocide.

    • @ThisNinjaSays_
      @ThisNinjaSays_ ปีที่แล้ว

      The Polish, Lithuanian, Estonian, Latvian and Ukrainian Jews had no idea what lay ahead.
      The Hungarian Jews though...😡 the well off and connected Jews paid their way out while the rest of the Jews were marched to Treblinka etc.

    1 train with Hungarian Jews was infected by typhus. They stopped at Treblinka and got everybody out to shower and to see whom was sick or not. At that time if you were sick of Typhus which was spreaded by lice the chance you would survive and get better wasn't so obvious as today .
    Adolf Eichman and Rudolf Kasztner had a short meeting there and they discussed what to do.
    To save as many jews as possible they decided to split the train and sent the sick people to Birkenau if i remember it correct and the other train to Palestine.

    Kasztner testified on behalf of Becher because Becher did everything to help Kasztner to save Jews, even took him in his car to the remaining concentration camps in early 1945 to give the lager commandants orders to treat the Jews humanely and just wait out the end of the war (can you imagine an SS-Standartenfuehrer introducing a Jew as his personal friend?) and and in return Kasztner promised that he will give an affidavit on behalf of Becher if needs be. Its hard to believe but there are men who make good on their promise. Kasztner and Becher were men like that. By the way Kasztner's daughter had visited several times Becher and his family in Germany and became good friends.

    • @AbdirahmanIdris-ku9xm
      @AbdirahmanIdris-ku9xm ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope. Kasztner sold his soul. Eichman told him he didn't want an uprising because he didn't have enough SS men to contain a revolt like the Warsaw uprising. Kasztner still refused to tell the Hungarians about the report knowing they would die.

    Some people who do very good things also do some very bad things - God is the ultimate judge (I am in no position to judge Kastner)
    You mentioned the Satmer Rebbe, he was pure holiness, his anti zionist views should not be confused with the modern anti Semites - the Rebbees love for all jews including zionist jews on an individual level is beyond a level most of us can understand

    What about the Palestinians? That is my personal difficulty with Israel. I converted to Judaism in protest to what had been done as a young woman in the 60’s. After learning as a teen what had occurred I suffered a long time with depression over it. It’s a long story but later, I was horrified over the way Israel is treating the Palestinian people. I am always horrified at the antisemitism of today. As someone who does not look jewish I have had to listen to some of the most horrific remarks because the speaker assumes I am gentile and will be just fine with it.

    • @porschecollector727
      @porschecollector727 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Converting to Judaism “in protest” is such a wrong thing to do. Conversion should only be accepted when it’s being done for the love of Hashem, Torah, Jewish teachings and mitzvah. Perhaps you are unhappy because the conversion was done in false pretence and if you are religious you do understand that your self lies are seen right through by the almighty.
      Now as far as Palestinians, are you getting your sources from internet or do you have a personal experience?
      I live in the US but I do travel to Israel. The biggest antisemites are the Palestinian Arabs. They have been given plenty of chance for peace but they don’t want peace, they want a complete Annihilation of Israel and Jews.
      Their hate and lies are only compatible to Nazis

      Dear Kathleen,
      1) There is no such Thing as Palestinians or Palestinian Ethnicity. Those People are in Reality Arabs by Ethnicity whose 1st Language is Arabic, and they have Arabic Names, Surnames and Genetics. The only Reason they say they are "Palestinians" is Antisemitism!
      2) Since even before the Declaration of Indenpendence, Arabs and Muslims in Israel where Treated by Jewish People with Respect. They are the ones that don't Respect the Jews! Golda Meir once said: "We (Jews) can Forgive Them (Arabs) for killing our Children, but We (Jews) can't Forgive them (Arabs) for forcing Us (Jews) for killing of Their (Arab) Children."
