My dad tells of a time on the farm when they thought someone was stealing their gas from tanks. They were pretty sure that they new who was doing it, so one night they switched the position of the gas and diesel tanks. Guess who's car was broken down a mile down the road the next day?

I loved both parts of the video. I have a Kia Niro, and as a car, it's done pretty well. It's good to see you fixing the car auction car or not, irrespective of what it is and not making the person feel awkward about their car choice. Like so many others do. I bought a petrol hybrid cause I do a load of miles a year and wanted to ensure I could afford to keep it on the road and the fuel doesn't bankrupt me doing it. Your just down to earth fair and if you can fix it you do. No matter if its a executive car or a shed you just get people back on the road and your realistic with people about how long a vehicle is going to last. Thanks Eric and Mrs O and the team

I was a taxi driver and drove this car (2010) back in 2013. All the Kia Soul's in the fleet had 360k to 400k miles. I enjoyed driving it because it was spunky around town and was super fuel efficient. Not as much room as the ford interceptor/grand marquis but that fuel savings was money in the pocket. Easily saved me $30 a shift.

Every single Korean I have met works their ass off, and they are above average intelligence. The other thing that amazes me is why there are people in this country that think communism is the way to go. Can't they see the difference between north, and south Korea?

What gave me the start to my career as a mechanic was working for an equipment and party rental place. The party rental drivers were using a rented truck with a Cat 3208, but they were so used to pumping gas into their normal trucks, they filled the diesel truck with gas and got 2 miles down the road before it quit. I went with a 55 gallon drum and a pump, got the gas out of it, added diesel, then bled out the engine.
That was 36 years ago, and started a career with diesels (mostly marine).

People manage to fill their gasoline tanks with diesel from the pump more often than you would think, and takes quite a bit of diesel for it to prevent it from running. I personally think it was someone that figured out how to fill their car up when they found that the "gas" pump had the wrong sized nozzle.

Back in the 80’s we had a Chevy Nova, one that was built in CA along with the Toyota Corolla - very similar cars at that time. We filled the car with gas at our usual gas station, but the fuel supplier had put diesel fuel in the gasoline tank underground. The company paid to have our gas tank drained and cleaned and we got it running again. They must have had many cars that had to be serviced in that way.

Had to pump out a tank one time, diesel was in the tank. Small-town gas station had replaced a nozzle on their diesel pump with one which had the unleaded sized tip (I verified that). That's one way it could happen, but I've only ever seen it once.

The local gas station has green for gasoline and yellow for diesel. Freaks me out mid-pump from time to time.

I had the unique opportunity to experience diesel in my gasoline van, when a friend in his diesel truck brought me 5 gallons of fuel when I had run out. I didn't even think of calling him 'shirley'...surely that's gasoline you brought me, right? So I found out the hard way to never "ASSume!" Another great video, thanks for posting!

I mean all you gotta do is PAY ATTENTION, or maybe a "NEWBIE DRIVER", or the one who went to go fill up, usually drives "DIESELS", and maybe by force of habit, not realizing the car was gasoline, & OOPS.... 😯😱

I know of atleast one person who purchased a new Toyota pk-up back when flex fuel was getting to be common and did it on purpose because diesel just happened to be a few pennies cheaper than gas and the salesman said it could run on as little as 15% gasoline.... he totally missed the ethanol part.... despite the stickers inside the gas door and nice yellow cap....etc.
I think the dealership got him for something like $5k to replace his 'fuel system' some people are just brilliant individuals.

That fuel tank access panel can be resealed with windshield ribbon. Store the leftover in a zip lock bag and you're ready next time.

How very dare you!! Diesel is the elixir of all engines with true powahhhhh.
Being a heavy diesel mech, kerosene was always a favourite poison of operators, their heaters used kero, and in the cold of night they’d refuel their truck with the kero fuel can. Which caused an interesting bunch of symptoms.
Great work by the way, a very surprising two for one deal.
