Correction on the Shark caught in this video: We believe it's a Soupfin Shark If any viewers are certain about this one, please comment and let us know if this is accurate, after research it's NOT a Thresher Shark which some viewers have mentioned which has different characteristics like large dark eyes, longer extended top tail fin and is generally Dark Grey with a white underside. Thanks for watching and we appreciate all the viewers that have already watch this fun outting.
Great job. Nice quality of halibut. Question why don’t you use a gaff? Also I would suggest on getting a deeper net. Most of your catches barely fit in your net. Which is very nice. Great job 👏🏽. We will be out there for fleet week. I’ll look for you. Thanks for sharing. Tight lines
all good points, looking to upgrade alot of things actually, but no real reason on your Gaff question other than just don't have one, if you have a recommendation on one that would be awesome otherwies, I will be looking into this at some point along with Rod replacements
It is a beautiful creature, folks have been asking why we don't keep the Leapords, and truthfully they are generally too large to keep early in the morning, however, this one came before the end of our trip and I thought why not, Id like to see what is possible with this fish and to try it in a recipe, hey if it turns out delicious will just add it to our bag limits, not even sure how it tastes is why I had to take it home
we agree, after research, we havent caught one of these in a while but its looking more like Soupfin Shark after reviewing footage, boy are they Powerful for their size!
You're brave to reach your arm down next to a shark. They do their death roll and things go sideways with lines, not to mention they bite if you touch them. Unless I can grip them behind their eyes (soft spot near their neck on top side), I don't touch them.
If we are careful and pay attention to line lengths we do don't get many....however that changes when you catch a good running fish, then all bets are off. This trip The captain and I did really good on very little tangles. The captain is pretty good on yelling at me to get my line distances correct. 😜
as for the halibut rig itself you can get some twists if you let the rig fall to the bottom too fast so we like to control the descent with our thumbs on the bail to make sure it is a controlled fall.
My buddy Bob replied but in agreement, line twist only comes in play when you use spinners, flashers and dodgers, but trolling live bait generally not an issue so long as you control speed to ensure its faster than the currents which leaves your 3 feet leaders behind the weight at all times and in any direction you are trolling
we needed more yes, it's manageable but when we get fish on trying to record footage every second counts cause currents and wind and boat control becomes a challenge, it's why you see us moving quickly cause unless you are on a moving boat 1MPH is fast when you aren't paying attention
I thought we had one with the Frabill but you are right it's very shallow! adding "new net" "new Gaff" "new rods" lol to the list of things our subscribers beat us up every outting for haha
😂😂😂😂 bro what the f*** am I watching you have that shark at the side of your boat for 5 minutes and all you had to do is stick pliers down there and shake them off instead you're wearing your buddy out just sitting there pointing the camera out of fish that's going to die cuz it ain't got no water running through its skills what are you doing
you are right brotha, this is the first large shark we caught and was not ready for handling this one. My buddy and I talked about this and now have to add Sharks of this size to the list of catches we now have to be prepared to release carefully, this sucker was so big and didn't want to sit still fighting us and too large for the Net, it was a difficult task despite what the camera shows, its a powerful creature, next time we will be way more prepared but obviously was not, thanks

Was that a dolphin or baby whale that breached the water @8:36?
Yeah we believe it was a pod around our boat chasing bait around us
Thanks for sharing sir.. What a beauty of a day! Hey can you tell me what brand your rod holders are?
Phil
I believe they are scotty from Amazon
That is such a beautiful shock. You got great eating halibut put the goddamn thing back in the water. That is a thing of beauty.

noticed they have tiny teeth, glad the shark was worn out otherwise we would have had extreme caution, but yah it was too tired to bite haha
Come on captain! Get with the program and get at least a 4'-6' gaff!!
I know, I know, I know lol, I will, be patient hahaha, its beeen on my mind trust me
Deck hand is in lalaland😂
we were beat up with fish coming off the hook all day, it was one of those days, haha
Do you get any line twist trolling with those setups

Was that a whale that breached?
it looked like dolphin as they surrounded our boat, we are sure it was..
I love the part where the captain keeps showing my fat stomach while I'm reeling up!
can't help the scene and footage was too good to avoid haha
Not a thresher
you are correct it is NOT, I believe my next guess after research is a Soupfin Shark, had to check the footage and it looks more like Soupfin
Looks like you need another man on deck

And get a proper net
