- we got this machine brand new a couple of years ago, used it maybe 3 times and it worked fine, then this spring we went to use it and the motor wouldn't run, I checked everything and everything was good except the winding's. So after no response from the company I proceeded to put a different motor on it.
I love to see people that can take some good old common sense to figure out how to fix things. We tried to teach our kids to figure things out - their older now... man I hope our teachings stuck!
"Ya know.. the thing" 😂
Great job getting it done, thanks for sharing!
I have to say, the what ever mechanical skills I have, I got from my dad, he was a mechanic and my brother and I were there with him most of the time, he was very patient and he taught us a lot.
@@MissouriOldTimer same with us... Sadly, I'm not sure this is a common thing these days.
That is smart how you figured out to drive off the opposite end of the old motor.
luckily they had the stub for the fan, I had first thought I was gonna have to cut away part of the original case and machine the armature so I could install a pulley there, but this is much easier.
You did a good engineering job putting that plucker back to use. Reminds me of the duck plucker song by Mason Williams.
thanks, things just kinda worked out right for this fix.
Nice job fixing it ..thanks for sharing
Thanks for this video. Same issue on my end. I am trying to track down an old motor now. 👍
I thought this machine would be quite the thing and for the price it ought to be but it didn''t last any time.
Great solution Vernon, I bet it will works fine, you always have a plan to fix something, well done
thank you, well this just happened to work out pretty well.
Hello Vernon,
I like that you always manage to get things going and come up with innovative solutions.
Take care.
Paul,,
I had to go through the old motor because it had a gear reduction thing built onto it,
Great idea to fit another motor up to the old one. It is annoying the company did not respond to your email. I am pleased you have it back running again but I guess the chickens are not lol
SSSSHHHHH,, don't tell them,, lol
Nice fix good job my friend. Have a good day.
thank you, hopefully it will work as it used to.
Hey, it worked ! No need to apologize. Good Job!
thanks for looking.
That was a good idea to fix it that way . That is better than spending another $400 .
yes, my wife tells me it was 500, when it comes to money,, she knows...lol
Just about everything nowadays is junk, the sad thing is we let it happen. Good idea on your fix.
they make it look good but that's as far as it goes.
Nice job my friend...big like. Greetings from new friend
thank you for watching.
If I lived closer, I would give you a mean, people-hating rooster to try it out on.
who knows, he might beat this thing,,lol
The problem with that design is no matter who sells it whether it’s the brand you have or another is they’re all made by one Chinese conglomerate and resold with retailers labels. They like you stated dump the feathers and water right on the motor
yes, it was a poor design for sure.
I guess we'll stick to do it by hand...
we had to the time we tried this thing and it didn't work.. hopefully it's ready to go this time.
That's genius!
lol , I kinda doubt the genius part,, I more or less just stumble bum through things.
It must have a gear reduction to it. That repair will probably outlast the rest of the machine.
yes it does have gear reduction , I bet the replacement motor would be pretty expensive
I would love to that thing in action.
some time later, we will be trying it, we have several chickens to process. here's a link to a video when it did work. th-cam.com/video/AfrU8tmkbLM/w-d-xo.html
I have same problem
they cost too much to be having to modify them,, it's a poor design.
