The reason there are arrows to line up the tub when snapping it to the motor portion is because it has a magnetic switch on it. This allows the motor to run ONLY if the drum is setting correctly in place. You can see the wires to the switch which comes out of the control box. The cord has a G.F.C.I. end on it. (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter)
No I just live with it. Unfortunately it is a result of the drum easy to remove design. It simply rest on the bottom plate with no seal. If it had a seal it would just west out and need replaced or leak.

If you have diy skills build a wizbang for $400 and you will have a $1500 plucker.
