How to pay Payroll Taxes through QuickBooks

➡️ Print Payroll Summary
Go up to “Reports”
“Employees & Payroll”
“Payroll Summary”
Choose “Dates”
Go up to “Print”
“Report”
“Print Reports” screen will show
Under “Settings” tab, adjust the settings you want
Click “OK”
➡️ Print Payroll Liability Balances
Go up to “Reports”
“Employees & Payroll”
“Payroll Liability Balances”
Choose “Dates”
Go up to “Print”
“Report”
“Print Reports” screen will show
Under “Settings” tab, adjust the settings you want
Click “OK”
➡️ What to Highlight in Payroll Summary?
First color highlighter
Federal Withholding
Medicare Employee
Social Security
Medicare Company
Social Security Company
2nd color highlighter
CA - Withholding
CA - Disability Employee
CA - Unemployment Company
CA - Unemployment Training Tax
➡️ Processing Payments in QuickBooks
In the home screen, “Pay Liabilities”
“Create Custom Payments”
“Select Date Range For Liabilities” screen pop up will show
“Dates”
Click “OK”
Choose “Check Date”
Checkmark which taxes you want to pay
Checkmark “To be Printed” - if you want to print it
Click “Create”
Then it takes you to the checking account
Check if they are under “Payroll Liabilities” Tab, unless it’s a penalty. Penalty will be under “Expenses Tab”
Click “Save & Close”
➡️ Processing Payments in EFTPS Website
Login
Enter Tax Form Number
Select a Tax Form
Most Common Forms
All forms in Numeric order
Click “Next”
Choose your “Tax Type Selection”
Click “Next”
“Business Tax Payment”
“Payment Amount”
“Tax Period” (Qtr/Year your paying)
“Settlement Date”
Click “Next”
“Subcategory amounts”
“Social Security”
“Medicare”
“Tax Withholding”
Click “Next”
Verify all information
Click “Make Payment”
Print or Save as a PDF
➡️ EDD Website (State of California)
Login
Go down and click “Employment Tax”
Select the timeframe that you want
Click “Make a payment”
Choose “Payment Method”
Add “Amount”
“Confirm Amount”
Go down to “Schedule and Pay Date”
“Deposit Schedule”
“Pay Date”
“Deposit Amounts”
“Unemployment Insurance”
“Employment Training Tax”
“State Disability Insurance”
‘“Personal Income Tax”
“Plus”
“Penalty”
“Interest”
Click “Submit”
Click “OK” to confirm
Click “Print”
After printing, click “OK”
“Logout”

do you have a video on after the fact - payroll... should that be used if you paid payroll by bank draft rather than just entering it in your check run?

Hi Candus, what if there is a warning on the EDD website after I have put my totals in the Payment amounts? The warning states that PIT is typically greater than the SDI amount. If your amounts are correct, please proceed. What is your advise?
Sound like its warning you the state income is less than your disability. As long as you verify the amounts against the reports then you are fine.

Yes, EFTPS requires a bank account linked to your log in details. FYI, the pin number for EFTPS is linked with your bank account.

hi Candice is there a reason we can not pay the state taxes through eft the same way we pay the 941? Is going to the EDD website better to pay these taxes?
Yes Yevette, I do teach how to pay from inside QB for both IRS and EDD inside my Quarterly and Year End Forms course. It save lots of time I highly recommend it. I wasn’t doing that when I originally created this video.

Hi Candus,
Quickbooks Timesheets has both billable & hidden columns.
If the hidden column has a check mark, where do these hours go? Is there a report that shows the history of timesheet hours when hidden? Can the billable hours and it's history be viewed after being hidden?

Hello Candus, I really need help with my California state taxes. I use quick books, but I didn't input my California ID account number for like the first 4 payroll taxes. I was suppose to manually do them instead of quick books electronically do them. Quick books did them for me but did not pay them, can you please help with this or some advice??

If you didn't pay through E-Pay you would need to log into the EDD website and pay them through their system.

Hi, I've got a question about entering employee tax info (specifically) the newest W-4 into Quickbooks. I've got a situation where an employee is filling "married filing jointly" and then for the claim dependents he put done $2500.00 So now when I'm running payroll for this employee it doesn't show that it is taking out any Federal taxes. Mind you, he is only been with the company for 4 payrolls so far (we pay weekly). So is this happening because he has not met the wage threshold? Do you have a video showing how to enter this information for an employee? I don't think I'm doing it wrong and I don't want them to end up having to owe a ton in taxes when they file next year. This isn't happening with everyone. I appreciate your help in advance.

I noticed in federal report you did not add both federal amounts obviously one was at zero but for example in my report both of my federals have an amount. Does this mean I add both to help sum up my total?

When you say "federal accounts", which tax are you talking about? Federal withholding and Federal Unemployment? Remember 941 and 940 are different forms.
If I have any business and put a deposit in my bank every week, so what line should I put a deposit in from 941

My Payroll Summary report shows all the deductions for employees and employer, but the Payroll Liability Balance is missing some of the deductions. Why is that?

Raul, which report doesn't match? Liability is what you owe based on payments. The payroll summary is what you processed on the paychecks.
@@CandusKampfer My Summary does not match the total QB says is due. I will pay what is on our summary thank you.
