    • @beatalert123
      @beatalert123 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SoumyajitBhattacharyay Since the primary focus of the channel is on SDE, what we can do is just add a small shout out in between the video for a min on the other core tech teams with a large team strength in India.
      Example:
      Also In addition to the cool Analyst role we just discussed, GS also has other core tech functions in their bangalore office like data engineering, platform ops. And then if you can gather some helpful insider info we can add that as well.
      Primarily just to spread awareness that there are other core roles beyond SDE. This could also help you spawn 1 video into multiple threads for each tech function 😁

    Hello Sir, fantastic video yet again.
    I just have a small question. As you explained in the video that both DE Shaw and GS provide a lot of exposure in terms of an engineering standpoint. However do you think that after a certain threshold , the spectrum/breadth of work sort of becomes constant or does it just keep on increasing as in the case of top product companies like Google, Amazon etc?

      That's definitely not the case. Inside a company the band of an SDE is almost always higher than that of an SRE. Take any company for that matter, be it linkedin, Amazon, microsoft, D E Shaw, Tower Research, Arcesium, Intuit etc.
      Why, because SDEs are creating the product which is driving the profits. Many companies do not have SREs for that matter. And the once that have, they are working to ensure the infra holds up. Always, the roles that directly impact the profits are the ones that are paid more.

    Whole fintech companies are crap, nothing interesting goes on there. Yeah they have a lot of money, but other than that, you will not enjoy anything there. But if, someone wants to go pick Goldman they have less number of people and more money but again you will be treated like a labour.

    • @SoumyajitBhattacharyay
      @SoumyajitBhattacharyay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Goldman has more than 36000 employees. D e Shaw on the other hand has only 1500. Definitely the money is more in d e Shaw and the increments. Employee benefits are also better at Shaw.

      @@SoumyajitBhattacharyay Don't know about that, but as a Software developer at Goldman, i see lots of increment and even more bonus distributed at the end of the year. Goldman gave me nearly 110% hike from my previous job, without any other offers inhand . Deshaw, does give lots of increment but only to campus hires. But it doesn't matter, i am leaving very soon. When you start working in Fintech you realize money is not everything 😂. BTW great content, love your channel.

      Aur Kuch? Why so frustrated bro? Anyways, I am better off working in proper tech companies rather then working on archaic tech in a language that is at best mediocre, following practices that are. subpar.

      @amartyakumar9773 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SoumyajitBhattacharyay hey, not frustrated or anything bro. I just think people who says that just getting in IITs is not enough to get some extra bucks, they seriously need to think about a very simple rule of economics i.e. demand and supply.
      IIT grads dont put guns on HRs to give them more, they have the demand in market which fetches them what they deserve.
      Anyway, I just feel its toxic to say something like this when that person himself could not get it.

    • @SoumyajitBhattacharyay
      @SoumyajitBhattacharyay  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@amartyakumar9773 nope. It is ok to get more for the different work. No doubt. But for the same work there shouldn't be any distinction on the basis of college.
      As that has absolutely no bearing on the work done. Rest ofcourse if the person is good enough they will get good raises on the basis of work.
      That should be how it should be. As being in the industry and working in all the companies, de Shaw and Amazon. One thing I know is that folks from IIT are not bringing anything extra to the table. We should build a society were smart people are rewarded not entitled people. If you are smart enough, you should be able to distinguish yourself and get paid more. No doubt. But advocating more pay just because of a college degree reeks of entitlement.

      @@SoumyajitBhattacharyay well things which are followed today are coming from the effects and results of past.
      I would just take a random guess that such large MNCs which have tons and tons of data of their past employees must have thought about this too.
      If it was for no better reason they would have given the same for everyone. I guess companies just want to hire someone who they can trust and depend on even if they have to pay few extra bucks instead of going on a hiring spree continuously. This fact must have been proven from the past.
      Moreover its like saying why should one drive BMW/Mercedes when they can travel even in a Maruti Alto.
      Both do the same task.
      P.S. the content in your video looks great even though I dont belong to anyone of those companies , just found that little thing a bit illogical so stated it.
      P.P.S. I have done MBA so I know how the market works for demand and supply. Given that you only have a technical knowledge, I do understand why its difficult for you to understand this.

    • @SoumyajitBhattacharyay
      @SoumyajitBhattacharyay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The large MNCs which are tech focused have tons of data and have thought about it, do not discriminate in their pay.
      Large MNCs like, Amazon, Facebook, Google Uber, Adobe, Microsoft etc. Not a single one does it. Only the ones which do not have strong tech departments and where technology is treated as second class citizens, have done this disparity, like Goldman Sachs
      Hence the view point, all the large MNCs which are actually solving unknown problems, and working in cutting edge technology know for a fact, brands like IIT doesn't translate to job specific skills and hence do not discriminate. That's why the other companies find it hard to attract any talent let alone top talent of the world.
      And you being from a business background, should have better hypothesis skills. Because all the data points that you have stated does not have any bearing in real life stats. 🙌 Only sub par brands are doing this.
