As Kid Rock said when Bob Seger was inducted into the R'n'R Hall of Fame, (to the best of my memory) "with Bob Seger, you never heard about any scandal or strife, it was always just about the music" and it's true. He is among the last of the great, class acts in rock and any other popular music genre or format.

Joyce W you nailed it had he let them subsidize him, they would have called the shots, and the true seger would have been snuffed out and forced to promote the satanic agenda. how tragic that would have been!

Joyce W Good comment! As soon as he had kids he left the road to help raise them, when they were old enough he went back on the road. Still no frills, just an all around good guy.

@@lauramcmullen5851 Amen! This discussion reminds me of the following Neil Young lyrics:
"We don't wanna be watered down
      Takin' orders
      from record company clowns..."
Tom Hanks played a record company executive in "That Thing You Do", ordering the drummer to wear sunglasses.
I am a good drummer myself. Had I been fortunate enough to have ended up with a band that was awarded a recording contract, it would have been only after the record company was advised of their rights by the band. (Of course, a reasonable trading of ideas is always welcome.)
No sunglasses, no watering down; the musicians are the talent, and the record companies need(ed) us as much as we need(ed) them. I think many gullible artists have been bullied by those clowns in the past (when this was more of an issue). Good for Mr Seger, Mr Young and whomever else did not fall in line to the "pied piper". God bless.

I L O V E B O B S E G E R. I've seen him more times than any one else by far. In the Pine Knob days in the 70's and 80's, he was the man. I would stand in the Orchestra Pit (I always snuck down to get closer seats or slowly pushed to the front by the first encore) watching and singing every word with him, sometimes night after night. If he played 7 nights in Detroit, I probably saw 4 of them. He was and is my touchstone to that era and to my sister Caron (she was killed in 1976). She loved him like I do, and 40+ years later, I still feel her whenever I see him play. I love his music and his writing and the respect he gives the audience. He leaves every ounce of energy out there on the stage.

I administer a fan group where we have several members whom were there from before Silver Bullet. We chat a whole bunch and a few are in the same frame of mind as your self. Still in 2018 the energy in the venue and on that stage is something only one that experienced it can understand..I hope you get to see him on this tour as we are thinking this will likely be his last....

Wow, after seeing this interview, it just re-enforces what a great time I lived thru in American history. I was 14 years old when this interview played and I grew up in the town where it was shown. Bob Seeger was always one of those artists you instantly recognized when his songs were played on the radio but you didn’t know anything about, this happened a lot in those days. You always had to depend on magazine features or interviews like this for information about musicians and singers. No internet back then. Somehow though, you still would find a way to hear about the influential rock singers, especially from friends who were super fans who would be happy to tutor you in everything they knew about a particular artist or band. Those were the days and I miss them.

Bob liked listening to WLAC in Nashville at night . He's a little older than me but we both enjoyed listening to WLAC which was white by day and black by night! That's where Bob got a big dose of Southern music of all colors. That's why he, Linda Ronstadt, glenn, the stones, ROD STEWART TRAFFIC, BOB Dylan and the guys who would become the Eagles were frequent visitors to 3614 Jackson Highway. Hell, CHER NAMED HER First solo album, 3614 Jackson Highway between Cher , Bob, Linda and a drunken Joe Cocker, there was always something going on in our tiny town . Thousands of Michigan folks have came here to visit the historic studios that look as they did 50 years ago..and we haven't even mentioned the guys in Lynyrd Skynyrd . It's a wonderland for people who love d the 70s and those who want to get their first slice. The Museums are very reasonably priced and we make sure Ronnie Van Zant behaves himself. He's haunted the Muscle Shoals Studio since the plan crash in 1977. So come on down catch up on history!

    FIGHT THE POWER!
Haha, I love how he plays off the fact that he had to drive around all those years by casting it as an "independence" thing.
Also like the idea that he was in Cobo Hall for James Brown and he was the only white guy there!

My first real rock album I think was 76, I was 12, n that album was. Live Bullet. I'm now 57 n still remember every word of every song n once you hear the live version the studio version just ain't the same.

Bob and many North American bands(Guess Who, Steppenwolf) owe so much to
    CKLW.

A radio station in Canada back in the day. A VERY popular radio station that “introduced” new artists and the station manager’s name was Rosalie. Bob even wrote a song about her called “Rosalie”.
