How crazy would it be to be in the middle of the Idaho mountains on some random single track taking a break & all the sudden Chris Birch rolls up on a 890R & ask you for directions… 💀

Whatever KTM is paying Mr Birch, it’s not enough. He sells more KTM’s than any salesmen.

Until he hits his gas tanks in a ditch or locks them between some rocks then he knows he is on the 890 R. I wonder how many gas tanks he goes through.

Videos like this give me inspiration and confidence to think I might be able to take a "big bike" (thinking about a 1290 ADV-R or the 890) on some stuff usually meant for 'dirtbikes' like my Husqvarna TE300. Awesome video 👍💪

Chris, I love how you can switch it on and off, mate. I've loved all your Say No To Slow series (and it has made me a much better pilot of my machine). But to see you turn on your riding instincts and then turn on a part of your mind recalling a life changing physical therapist? Maybe that's just editing but I wouldn't able to tell otherwise . Maybe it's just voiceover. Yep, it's good voiceover. Still, respect for shredding Idaho!!! That shit was sketch! Well done on the ol' 890 twisted sister!

Beautiful riding, but i have to admit those hillside trails give me anxiety now. I sent my 890 R down the side of a hill a little steeper than that about 2 months ago. Took about 7 hours and a few guys with ropes knowledge to pull the bike up and out. I literally just finished rebuilding it yesterday. My bike and my body have mostly healed, but I do not want to pull a 450 lb bike up a hill like that ever again.

There are no words to explain how incredible this riding skill is!!! On Mr. Birch's 890 R...how close to stock is it? What is not stock? I Love learning from Mr. Birch's rides as well as the inspiration! One thing I have trouble with is adding more throttle is some situations. My instinct sometimes is to use less throttle in fear of the bike getting away from me.

    • @ChrisBirchNZ

Hi, Chris here. The bike is basically stock. Pro component's suspension and an XRC steering damper. Have you checked out our say no to slow video training series? There are a couple of episodes there that will really help you have the confidence to turn the power on.
