Beyond Vanilla
The 'Beyond the Cursed Mirror' theme lets you build levels using mechanics from the creator's eponymous major hack. Uncover the 'Badge' system, offering the player permanent, unlockable powerups, or utilize parts taken from the hack, such as the ever-endearing Showrunner boss!

Mario builder 64 only has 2 offenses, and might help it hide better
Paired with Kaze's optimisations (when they eventually are finished) will be epic

@@RPGreg2600 Check out Kaze's youtube channel. With time, the guy was able to optimise Mario 64 so much that he made the game able to run with graphics that look more like gamecube games, on real n64 hardware, and he can hit 60FPS. That will only work if he remakes the hack with said optimizations.

i think Thbeast used the physical copy to beat carl salagns evil level, so watching that gives a good idea on where it lags and when spikes happen
Once Return to Yoshi's Island is finally finished, they can remake the ROM hack with all the optimizations from it, making every level run smoothly.

I'm guessing Nintendo doesn't want to be outshined. They immediately shut down ROM, hacks that look and play better than their original games.

Im guessing you can. I think his recompiler they made can recompile any n64 rom to an executable you can run on your PC. This is just a modified n64 rom that even runs on real hardware so I don't see why this recompiler wouldn't work...

It'd be neat if they released a repro with this that had a micro SD card slot on the side, similar to a flash cart, so that you could import level files from other players. You could then plug the micro sd into your PC and boot up a Windows application that would allow you to share level files with eachother. I guess you couldn't do that though because selling the repro would have to include the Super Mario 64 rom patched with the hack. Unless you'd have to provide your own rom on the micro SD. That'd be neat!
Oh actually I just had another idea. This one for flash cart users. The program could instead allow you to import and export levels by dropping your save file from Mario Builder 64 into the program to share levels. You could then move your save file back into your SD and then into your flash cart.
It just seems to me that a big part of Mario Maker's success was connecting your WiiU, or Nintendo Switch in the case of Mario Maker 2, to the internet and sharing the levels and seeing everyone's unique and interesting creations and see what eachother could come up with using the provided tools. And likewise this would follow a similar scenario. Either way though, this is a really neat hack!

If it was applied with the 64DD component, then it would have more addon support and even an online server for custom levels, if the 64DD didn’t failed that causes it to be exclusive in Japan

If you can get the file of the rom hack all you have to do is download an emulator and run it. It's simple
Don't be lazy, like with everything in life do your research. The tools you need are all online just a few clicks away
It's really not that hard. Especially older systems like the n64. Just look at a tutorial on TH-cam or something.

Probably not on the originsl old n64 rom chips but luckily we're not limited by those anymore and have all kinds of mods that can just read Rom files from an SD card or something.
How do you download levels to the ROM? Is there a desktop app that’ll inject them or?
idk if something similar exists on N64 flashcarts, but on the DS, if you have a flashcart homebrew can read/write from the SD directly, and not just the ROM that was loaded
parallel launcher, it's an emulator with support for rhdc and it's literally made for playing mario 64 hacks

You need expansion pak for playing It on real hardware? If not then can play better big levels with a better fps performance? (last level of the video was like at 15 FPS lol)

But it seems that you can’t make and share levels as well as downloading them on actual Consol. So it’s probably best to play it on the emulator unfortunately
I’m pretty sure he meant just updating the rom with the levels you download. I don’t think anyone expect this to be able to download levels from the N64 itself.
That frame-rate is insane though. Probably better on emulator for that reason, but still is impressive.
