There is also book value of an item (in otherwords the items value minus its depreciation) Mostly an asset at 3 years old is only worth about 50% - and this can write off an asset if its repair costs are too high. Remember repair cost are not only the parts cost BUT include repair labour (and test time). We've done a lot of work on conditional analysis to help better understand your installed base value and expected replacement scheduling - and of course comparing to a particular assets repair costs etc. P.
