You know I try to defend Verne on some subjects but this is the one ,even more than putting the belt on dumbass Hogan that I can’t . I thought Martel and Hansen were a way to break out of the Bockwinkle rut the AWA had been in ( and I thought Nick was great j) . Those two and Sgt Slaughter might have helped keep them relevant a bit longer but who knows.
The sight of Stan Hansen doing the “YOUTH” chant while quitting the AWA and walking out of Verne’s office is a hilarious visual.
Hard to believe he has such a gentle demeanor in retirement. Back in his day, he was scarier than Brock Lesnar in his prime.
