I have heard a lot of good things about this game, but never watched anyone actually playing it. After watching this video I am getting this game. Thank you.
I love these characters. Even Ryuzo, the traitorous bastard. I like Shimura-sama, but he's so inflexible. Yuna is awesome, and Masako-sama is deadly and driven. Kenji is a loveable fool; heart in the right place, but head up his backside. XD And Ishikawa-sensei is so ornery, but experienced and a good guide. And I love the arc that Taka goes through. And there are a few you've yet to meet, as well. A few tips for you: If you're set on fire, rolling will put it out quickly. Try using your hook to climb to the top of lighthouses...or maybe Temples? You can also drop from ledges and catch yourself from falling with it if there's a grapple point to use. Makes for a quick descent. Fights (especially duels) are very deliberate. If the enemy's weapon glows blue, try to parry. A perfect parry will let you deal extra damage if you attack immediately afterward. You've been doing it, but I'm not sure if you've noticed. If it glows red...well, to quote Piccolo from Dragonball Z Abridged: "DODGE!" :) I need to play this game again, but... damn backlog. lol
Am the only one who sympathize with Ryuzo? He is prideful and starving and just want the best for him and his buddies. He doesn't even want to betray the Japanese. He is forced by enemy and his own pride.
@@garudanathanael5257 Oh, I empathize with him. I love his character, but his actions are deplorable. That's what makes him such a strong foil for Jin. And that's why...well, that's spoiler talk.
@@garudanathanael5257 I can't sympathize with him but sure, I can understand his reasoning. His disgusting actions make him completely unsympathetic to me though. There is nothing more disgusting than to betray your own people and he doesn't just half-heartedly do it by betraying a location or single person but goes all in with him and his men even committing acts of atrocity against their own countrymen.
When the Mongolian archers yell "dosho/dooshoo" they are yelling for their fellow soldiers to "get down" or "duck" so they don't hit them. That's why you can see the other fighters duck down and move out of the way when archers are about to shoot.
Kenji is also one of my favorite character with his symphatic face and funny voice acting. I went to Japan once and I have 3 regrets about my journey : -Himeji castle the White Heron was under maintenance so we couldn't visit everything there (and the zoo near the entrance made me drop some tears, the bear was turning in place in his small cage, that was awfull) -We didn't visit any onsen -2 weeks was too short I had a lot of great time there, but one of my favorite memory is when we visited Kôyasan. It was very foggy with a bit of rain and it added a lot of charm to this already enchanting place. I have enjoyed this trip to Japan so much, one of the best moment in my life.
The golden bird that led you to the golden temple led you to the pagoda that you can climb with the hook. One of the corners on the roof has a white rag you can hook on to to climb it all the way up. I think all the pagodas have collectibles on the roofs, along with very pretty views. Also, at 3:03 a glowing green firefly appears. This firefly will lead you to lore scrolls nearby. They do not count towards 100% but I collected them all anyways. The fireflies only appear when you are wearing the Traveler's clothes you were wearing at that moment.
Be sure to do those Mythic quests as you come across them. They always have rewards worth getting. Also, I have to recommend putting your points into the stances quickly - I've been putting 2 points into Stances before putting 1 point elsewhere. For fighting, the more those stances are built, the more fluid the combat I find. Love your comments. When I first played, I kept thinking of the Chinese film Hero because of the use of colors. I knew there was symbolism involved here, and I've loved you telling us about them.
Especially the reds and yellows. Makes me remember the duel with Snow and Moon in the forest. The legendary tales are so good at capturing the mythic part of Japanese folklore! I needed more of that in the game, I wouldn't even care if there was any reward for it. 👹👺👻

My mistake Mr. Shohei, if you see this message I recently commented that you can follow glowing crickets to lore scrolls. I meant to say green glowing fireflies, not crickets. On that topic, most cemeteries throughout Tsushima have caged crickets that you can collect. These crickets unlock new songs for your flute. Those glowing fireflies can also lead you to these caged crickets I believe, not just lore scrolls.
Thank you for this playthrough, i love the game and watching you play it and giving your input on japanese tradition is just awesome. Also, try to practise parrying and when in combat, press L3 to lock on to your opponent, it made it easier for me and hopefully it works for you.
I love that concept, the cheeseburger samurai. It reminds me of the movie Baby Driver, this very simple, classic genre movie from an incredibly sophisticated director with a one-of-a-kind style. I thought it was like going to a legendary Michelin star restaurant and ordering the cheeseburger. But what a burger!
when you mentioned how your favourite castle had cute holes in the walls, the different shapes actually had a purpose, the rectangular ones were for yumi, and the circular or triangular ones were used for Tanegashima and other fire arms.

The only way you can strike them is when you deflect (not block) an attack or attacking from behind while they're preoccupied with someone else. Otherwise, the Mongols will just block and push you aside, making you vulnerable. - Whenever you hear "Dosho!" from a Mongol Archer, it means they're about to fire. Just press O to dodge. Any direction will do. Just dodge. The Green Archers fire three times in a row. Yellow Archers fire Fire Arrows. - Don't be aggressive in Duels. You'll be doing more of them in Act 2. Remember, start with Heavy Attacks before you even think of Square Attacks. Don't try to break their guard in one combo, whittle them down one Heavy Attack at a time. - Whenever an enemy sheathes his sword, he's planning to do an unblockable attack. You know what he CAN'T do with a sheathed sword? Block. If an enemy tries to do an iaido move, he's open for a free hit! - If someone like Ryuzo tries to do a ground sweeping attack, you could roll back... or Jump backwards. Triangle attack to kick them in the air. I know this advice might be annoying, but I really want to see you master combat in this game as you'll feel so powerful when you do!

Visited Osaka castle in march. Very beautiful. Also pretty japanese girls everywhere. Shrine maidens, 7-11 workers, police officers... Japan is a paradise.
You know for Westerners this was an excellent game. However I can see how for a Japanese person playing this game would have much more significance. I was glad at least I was fairly well versed in the Mongol invasion of Japan. Which still didn't give the same meaning for me, it must have you. I believe the Mongols were such a brutal people, it made me feel good to beat them😂

I play this game one year back and it was so mindblowing for me. I realy like history, it is my bigest hobby ( after video games of course :D ) I am from Czech Republic and we dont learn about Japan too much. So I was realy happy to be able to look at least a little into your history. Of course is just a game, not everything is right, so I muss do some research. But that's exactly why the developers did a good job, they aroused interest in your history and culture. And not only Japan culture, Mongol too, so win, win for me. If you are interested, there is also one such game from our country, it is called Kingdom Come: Deliverence, it is again a look at our history and culture. Just a little tip :)
If you visit every onsen in the game, you unlock a unique piece of gear to wear. I'm sure you'll get it sooner than later, since I also sought out every onsen I could find.
Love the videos. Recently Ubisoft came out with a statement "apologizing" it was presented in Japanese and English language. One content creators said maybe something might be mistranslated and possibly gaslight-y in the statements. Was wondering if you could shed light on this matter.
Ok, so if you make your way to your mother's house, in the far upper left to middle side of map, there is good & important cut scenes, where you will acquire your fathers armor. There is a lot to explore on that end of map😉
A suggestion for your next skill upgrades. Use them on arrow deflection and dodging. You can block arrows by holding the block button. With the dodge upgrade and timing, you can dodge the red or blue special attacks which will give you counter opening like parrying. Also using your special attacks will take away from your resolve. Which will take away from your healing.
I see you changed to the Japanese voice cast. I also played through with the Japanese language cast and I found them to be much better than the English cast.

Playing with a ps5 controller is a complete different experience. The haptic adds a whole new level of immersion.
When you see a yellow bird take you to a building, sometimes it means you have to climb to the roof. The grappling hook will take you there

Hiding in the white grass gives large stealth advantage. Great for sneaking and assassinations.

Each armor has headgear if you wanted to see the set. Also, when you dye or upgrade, the headgear will change as well.

Pro tip: you can change armor and charms mid fight that suit your playstyle.

I think you made the fight at the end of Tadayori's Armor quest line harder for yourself. That armor is made for archery bonuses.

One thing to note about the Mongols here is this is during their occupation of China. So the vast majority of the soldiers are Yuan Chinese soldiers.

You can use your technique points to upgrade the standoff kills! You can do it up to 3 times! Keep up the hard and good work bro! 👊🏻
