How to adjust German mantle clock Crutch and Pallets

The owners of this Foreign (German) mantle clock were on holidays for three weeks and the movement ran down while they were away.
On their return they re-wound the clock and started the pendulum but the clock only ran for a couple of minutes.
Repeated attempts at starting the pendulum made no difference.

With all due respect Scottie you didn't show how to make the final adjustment you only compensated the out of beat by changing the level of the clock stand. Unless of course I missed something and if that's the case I apologize. Regardless I think more explanation is necessary.

Hello Scottie you have great advice thank you, however I’d like to ask a question can you please describe how to adjust the clutch tension on arbor of pallet the one im working with is im afraid a bit too loose.if there is an adj on my B17 junghan thanks for any advice sir

Thank you for making this video, much appreciated. I made a mistake before, requiring me to have a clock professionally restored. Now, instead of adjusting the pendulum's crutch lever, I prefer to just to stack coins under the end of the clock that brings it into a perfect beat. My question is, can the vast majority of German movements (eg HAC, Kienzle, etc.) be bought into beat, when placed on a level surface, with the movement still inside the case, by simply pushing the Crutch Lever to the left or the right by experimentation? Thank you :-)

Yes that is correct. Adjusting the crutch puts a clock in beat.
