An important note about the Turok baby name campaign, the idea was credited to a man named Dr. Simeon Cantrell at the Institute of Science in Marketing. Cantrell was not a real person, and when they mentioned a book on the subject he would be releasing called "Market Their Pants Off!," the associated ISBN number was actually attached to a book called "My First Knock Knock Joke Book."

The Hitman add having a drop down menu instead of a text box is so stupid. If you did a text box, IO could wipe its hands if someone sent something genuinely hurtful. You could list as your reason "Hi, I hope this doesn't freak you out to much, I just wanted to see what would happen" or you could reference lighthearted beef you had with your friends "For always beating me in Mario Kart" or "that time he stole my cookie".
Why is it always London weird marketing campaigns happen in? This wasn't a bad marketing campaign, but for the release of the Empire Strikes Back, stormtroopers were "released" onto London to take photos with citizens and hand out Empire Day merch- on the actual obscure holiday of Empire Day/Commonwealth Day. Although I feel like anyone who'd be offended by such a blatant comparison between the Galactic Empire and the British Empire would have already been by the accents of the Imperials.

You should also do Activision. To promote one of their call of duty games, they made a fake news outlet about a terrorist attack! It looked so realistic that other news outlets started talking about it. It got so out of hand that when the FBI went to defuse the bomb, they found something stranger, no! Even dumber than a bomb! Rate your Mate is exactly what it says it is, it was literally just a part of the late original playstation magazines where you could rate images of women from 1 to 10, and these weren't just models or anything in cosplay oh no these were real people shamefully plastering themselves on the magazine.

Fire emblem's had some *weird* ads before awakening came around and they decided to actually try, but by far and away one of them is easily a contender for "worst game and ever", the American live action ad for Fire Emblem Rekka no Ken (which has no subtitle in the west. Ya know, to be confusing, so we have to call it Fire Emblem 7).
Most bad game ads just tell you nothing about the game or vaguely point you in the wrong direction, usually because they're made by non-gamers who are working with at most 2 minutes of provided footage and 2 sentences of summary.
But the fire emblem ad is *something else*. Aside from the hammy acting, the most hilarious name mispronouncing they could have possibly chosen, and the hilariously bad costuming, the plot of the ad is that one character Killed their friend and ally Dorcas (or, as they say, Dork-Ass), and then everyone else laughs about it. And it ends with the tagline "Build an army. Trust no one. Fire Emblem."
    Which.
    Just.
Not only is "trust no one" *literally antithetical* to fire emblem as a series, but more so then any other entry, Fire Emblem 7 is *ABOUT TRUSTING STRANGERS.*
Deadass, there are more enemy units you recruit in this game then any other, more times allies come in to help you then any other, more times that the enemies lose BECAUSE they betrayed their allies then any other, hell, Legalt, Nino and Jaffar "betraying" the black fang to save it from the inner corruption of Sonia and Nergal is *literally* a major plot point of the whole game, as is how Zepheal's *mistrust* of the world and his allies lead to him becoming the main villian of FE6. (oh yea, this is a prequel, and also FE6 never came to the west. Translation everybody!)
Time and time and time again in THIS GAME SPECIFICALLY is trust reinforced as a good thing. Is betrayal reinforced as horrible and bad. Hell, units becoming better friends is **"literally a game mechanic*** that makes them ***better at fighting***.
The ad is so antithetical to the very core concept of the game itself that it's downright hilarious.
Like, if it was used for ANY other fire emblem, maybe, MAYBE it could be merely *inappropriate.* Maybe if it was used for any other fire emblem, you could somehow find some minor justification for how the tagline got that mangled.
But it's literally the ad for *the most trust based fire emblem story.*
Also isn't two considered far worse than absolution?

Naming your baby Turok is like naming your baby Dovahkiin. Which is what did happen, because Bethesda was doing a campaign where if a parent gives birth to a child with the Dovahkiin name on 11/11/11 (Skyrim's release date), they would get all of Bethesda's past, present, and future games free. And that is exactly what happened that day when a mother gave birth to a kid and giving the boy the name of Dovahkiin.
