Max's car was ALSO a Pursuit special. Its funny cause it was mentioned on the police radio as a Pursuit Special after Max stole it. Its mentioned in the original press kit for the first and second movie as being a Pursuit Special. But one random character in part 2 calls it a Interceptor once and that is all anyone calls it now.

This car is a replica from the first chase in the first Mad Max movie. The details are spot on. There was another one in the garage in the movie, but it had lights on the roof. What's interesting to note is that from what I can see, it's a '71/72 model. Besides the compliance plates (In Australia, they have two plates attached to somewhere on the body. With these it was on the firewall. One lists the specs of the car, as factory codes. The other lists the Australian design rules it complies with, as well as the month/year it was built) there are only two other ways to tell the difference between the early (1971-72) and late (1973-74) HQ Series Holden. One is the speedometer is in miles an hour in the early build, and the front flashers and park light are combined behind the one lens. A design rule change for January 1st, 1973 required the speedometer to be in kilometres per hour, and the front flashers to have orange lenses. They also had to be separate from the park lights

And THIS car wasn't built for the US, THIS is Australian... mate... and kicks Yank Tank ass all day and night...
We build BETTER cars and better engines. I admit your V8 gearbox and diff combinations are usable to a certain extent. But the rest is garbage for garage. Your garage, not mine... no Yank Tank has graced my garage and it never will. MAAAATE

A black 'Pursuit Special' Holden Monaro, stolen by the Nightrider, is one of the first vehicles to appear in the film. It manages to evade MFP recapture efforts until the arrival of Max Rockatansky
in the pursuit. While attempting to outrun Max, the Nightrider does not
react in time to avoid wreckage on the road and crashes at high speeds,
killing himself and his girlfriend, as well as destroying the Monaro.

Folks, The rollover chassis of the 1973 GMH Monaro was identical to the rollover chassis of the GM Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am, which was featured in the Smoky And The Bandit movies. In the early 1980''s there was a New Zealand company which would build a replica Smoky And The Banded Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am movie car using a donated GMH Holden Monaro rollover chassis. The owner of the company let me drive one of these amazing replica Smoky And The Banded Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am movie cars, and it had an identical engine, manual transmission and interior using a fiberglass body to the original movie car. The owner of the company used to be the detailer for the original George Barris Batmobile in the USA.🤠

However, I'd REALLY like to have dual wheels on the rear. Do you know ANYPLACE that will build me a set of four 15" REAL dually rims with a 5x4.5" lug pattern?

The Original HQ MFP Monaro used in Mad Max was Originally a Standard 6Cyl HQ Monaro Owned By GM-Holden Salmon street, Port Melbourne. Was owned by the Maker of the Car. Was originally Gold and a 202 6Cyl Red Motor with Factory 4 Speed when GMH owned it then later on it ended up to be the MFP Monaro for Mad Max. Ironic that GM-Holden was the First Owner on the Most Famous HQ Monaro of all time.
