Thank you for this, you made it simple to follow. I am following the Second Printing on Gamefound to see if it would be worth a purchase. In your advice you would start with the base game (Knave Pledge) or go for the Queens Pledge for twice the cost: Queen Includes- League of Dungeoneers core game - The Ancient Lands expansion (1 book, 22 dungeon tiles and 22 cards) - The Compansions Expansion (1 book, 46 cards) - 96 Metal coins with a faux leather pouch - 71 Spells and Prayers cards - LoD Dice tray - Dice bag - Neoprene world map - 15 Open plastic doors (supplied unpainted) - 10 Closed plastic doors (supplied unpainted) - 691 Sleeves (enough for all cards)
Hello Mr 3098! I went big on the first edition as to seemed to offer a lot of “stuff” for a decent price. I we not disappointed. I also upped for the 2nd edition upgrade kit and the expansion, so I’ll probably do another video on dungeoneers once that is out. Enjoy!, - Paul
I have backed the reprint along with the expansion having not been in the position financially to back the first campaign (stretch pay allowed me to back the king plegde). I am so impressed that this isnthe work of an independent guy, who has a life and day job but has managed to create such a fantastic world, system, game and product. The sheer work and time this must have taken astounds me. More coverage please Paul 😊 Love your content and style Paul, i have subbed and look forward to working my way through your content. Love your game atabke by the way. Greetings from over the pond.
Hello Nick!! First, thank you so much for the kind comments. Keeps me going! Regarding Dungeoneers, yes I was also amazed and deeply impressed that the entire package really stems from one guy. I was also impressed with the reaction I got from the community on my videos. Wow! So I pledged for the 2nd edition update kit and the new campaign module. I expect to release something when those come… whenever that is! Take care…, and Long Live the King! - Paul
Great video! You went through many mechanics in a very dynamic fashion. I am considering in getting into the late pledges of the 2nd KS, but we'll see. I still have Gloomhaven and The Crimson Scales to go through... Looking forward to more videos!
Thanks for the good video. A couple points of clarification: 1. First door of a dungeon is never locked or trapped. I do not remember exactly where it is in the rules, but I think I also remember it from one of Michael’s tutorial videos. 2. I am pretty sure the heroes only get one initiative token for Perfect Hearing no matter how many have that talent. I think this is implied where the rules mention that if both the enemies and the heroes have Perfect Hearing, then they cancel each other out - no mention of how many enemies or heroes have Perfect Hearing. EDIT: Oops! It seems you forgot that the Longbow ignores 1 point of Armour. But, of course, that last enemy did not stand a chance anyway! :)
Hello Mr Old !! I am sure you are right on all counts, but I could not find either in the book. The trap was an honest roll, but it served good purpose as a demonstration. I am also aware of the perfect hearing limitation, but when I read the rule it does not come out and say that it is a one bonus limit, so I went with the rule as written, not that it bothers me much to house rule things, especially in a fantasy game. I figure that as long as I am consistent, then I am not in too bad a shape. Thanks for your comment! - Paul, the Elder One.
My copy arrived a few days ago. There definitely is a lot of content in the box and I look forward to diving into it! I sold on my copy of Isofarian Guard because there is no eay that I would have enough time to play that and LoD.
Hello Mr Hax, When I got my copy I was really impressed with the sheer density of it. It’s a deceptively heavy box for its size! If you are an ‘Ole D&D guy like me, I think you will like this one. Enjoy!! - Paul
Hello! Just wandering how you now feel about the game? Do you play regularly, do you still play it at all? Always interested in hindsight views? I have the ‘all-in’ on the second printing coming any day now and can’t decide whether to keep this or sell on? It looks like a real ‘love letter’ to old school D&D but does it still hold up against more modern games… or will it end up on my pile of shame…
Hello Mr Flipz! No I have not played lately; I’ve been doing my Gettysburg thing which is always a good thing for me. But the v2 upgrade is coming out soon and I expect to revisit once I have it. - Paul
It's refreshing that your not limited to military wargames. I was a Guild leader in Everquest II for seven years and had three avatars with mythical weapons and fabled raid armor.
Hi again. Yeah, I DM’d a couple groups over ten years or so back in college and after. Those were the days, indeed. I grew up in SE Wisconsin, less than an hour from Lake Geneva, so I was into D&D pretty early on. My first Gencon was at the Lake Geneva Playboy Club. And yes.., they had ‘bunnies’, hands down the best costumes at the con. 😛. - Paul
I want to like it… the idea seems so amazing. I think it’s just a little bogged down for me though. If there was a slighter lighter rule set in there to speed along combat I think it would tick more boxes for me. Thanks for the demo.
Hi Jason. Yes, I felt the same about the game’s pace. It models D&D so well it also models the play time. My dungeon group years ago would take an entire session to do one dungeon, and this one is no different. - Paul
Great video. I’ve just unboxed the game which took forever to arrive here in the uk. Nice to see standees in games again. I’m bored of box loads of minis. Can also use them in a mix with league of dungeoneers Minorest of points … you spelt strategy wrong in your titles
Hello Neil!! Thanks for commenting. First, I beg to differ about the misspelling - “Strategery” is a word invented by President George “Dubya” Bush. Google it and be enlightened! I strongly agree about the standees. I go this route whenever given the option; I’m avoiding buying tons of oversized plastic figures whenever possible. I never paint them, so they just make games 50%++ more expensive for no good reason. At first I thought you misspelled ‘misspelled’, but I looked it up and found ‘spelt’ is a British word. No such word on this side of the pond, I’m afraid. Happy Independence Day 🦅🇺🇸🦅. - Paul
@@theoakenknight1748 haha I happily stand corrected. I have heard of the Dubya version 😇 I have a backlog of minis to paint that will take me a lifetime probably. So more standees the better from now on Happy Independence Day …. We’re the best of friends now 😇
Im really torn about this one. I am an old school gamer and played ad&d back in the da6 and WH quest, so it attracts me (as a solo gamer). However my pile of shame is big and I have only just started a gloomhaven campaign and also have oathsworn sitting there I played along with some other games AND stalker and elder scrolls on game found awaiting delivery. I just worry I’ll never have time to play them all snd I’m sucked into FOMO, this is why I think I probably need to pass despite temptation. I have just over a week to make up my mind 😂
Hi Jon! I feel your pain. I have both Stalker allergy and Elder Scrolls on order as well. Since I already have the 1st edition of LoD, I was able to escape with ordering only the update kit and the expansion - as if LoD needs an expansion! But if you want the D&D experience in a solo-friendly format…, here it is. Best of luck making your saving roll, but I fear you are doomed! - P
Is there an app for this? I don't think I have seen so many charts, draws and rolls needed just to move into a room, and so much calculating just to do 1 attack. 🤨
Hi KC. I am not aware of any app that would help. The game plays a lot like good ole D&D, except there’s no DM to do the due rolls for you. I am still in awe that this is a one man project. - Paul
Hey there, couldn't find an email of you right now. Would you be interested in a behind the scenes video of developing a card game of a review of our game before we launch our campaign?
Hello Simon. I took a peek at the card game you posted on your channel. Multiplayer card games would be tough for me to review; about 90% of that I do is solitaire, so I don’t think your design would be a good match for me. But it looks interesting, so keep at it! - Paul
Hello Phalanxia! Guilty as charged…, about being left handed. Not sure what to do about the “honest dice”; I roll in a dice tower, and it would be hard to keep moving the camera to do a “reveal”. And yes…, I made the tower myself. Guess you’ll just have to trust me…, silly you! 🤪. - Paul
Hi Mr Copper! I’m afraid ‘strategery’ is a word; it goes back to George “Dubya” Bush who was famous for inventing new words. Google it! 🤗. I wonder if one can be ‘strateregic’ while executing their strategery? 😵💫 - Paul

Thanks David! I think you will be happy with it. I gotta say…, the box is deceptively heavy for its size. Lots of good stuff inside! - Paul
