Am I the only one (as a customer) that'll put clothing I don't want back to the proper place? If I see a shirt in the wrong section, I'll put it in the right one. I don't know... seems rude to not do that.
I work at Rue21 and I am required to "fragrance strip" customers, basically showing off our perfumes we have and we have to sell a certain amount perfume a day. I don't like it because I get sassy and rude people who don't pay attention to me when I speak to them. And then at the register I am required to ask for their email and people are just so rude.
I know exactly what you mean, I worked at sephora for about a year and a half and whenever we had "events" like an Urban Decay event or Bare Minerals it basically means that we have to sell only that brand to every customer no matter what or we WILL get scolded and it feels so shitty...like I knew in my soul that the Bareskin foundation was crap and wouldn't be good for their skin type but I had to tell people it was amazing in order to keep my job...so messed up. I wanted to work there in order to help people feel their best and feel confident, not sell them something that isn't good. It just goes to show that you need to be super careful when shopping in retail stores, because employees are forced to sell things to customers they may not need or something that just isn't worth the money.
+LIJ4Productions you just have to be careful, especially on event days which are usually Saturday's, a lot of people are genuine or want to be genuine, you just have to feel them out and see if their recommendations are coming from an honest good place or if they actually seem existed and knowledgable about the products they are showing you :) otherwise just going any day during the week haha
I too worked at Sephora...in Paris (France). Same shit, same story! At mine, we were not alowed to give away samples if the customer hadn't buy something first...and if the customer did already make a purchase, we were not alowed to give more than 2 or 3 samples...not even the best ones! We had each day a amount of sale €€€ that we needed to reach! It was a freaking competition between sales associates!!!! The cashiers would steal your "customers" and put their name in the receipt!!! Some of the S.A did not know what the heck they were talking about regarding the products...they would sell you dog shit in a luxury jar if that's what we had to push that day! I personally would always be truthful to the customers and whisper to them "this is what I'm supposed to sell but this is what you need! And trust me you don't need to buy this other product, save your money!!" but guess what, they would come back and ask for me again and again :-D et voilà!!!!!!!!
so that explains why I'm never asking an employee to help me out with a make-up choice ever again. When I first started getting into makeup I was pretty young, like 15-16. This lady I asked for help offered me urban decay... did she notice my age? I ended up spending way too much money that day, and had an extremely pissed father. She lured me in good. But that's like really messed up. And now I find this out years later... like wtf.
I hate that victoria secret has that system where they ask you who helped you. I was in US with a friend this year and we had like 5 people from the same store asking us "can I help you with anything today" and they were asking us soon many times. Then when we finally bought something they asked us who helped us and we could only choose 1. But I find victoria secret workers sooo salesly and that makes sense because they have that system, but it was very annoying for us who are not used to that
I hate that.. when they're constantly asking if I need help, I leave.. I usually tell workers that if I need help, I'll go look for them.. best buy can get annoying..
Where I work (Big Y, it's a grocery store) customers are able to talk to the manager if they really enjoyed their experience and tell them about it and then the managers make a board and put all of the nice things up each month and looking at them and seeing your name and the nice things they said just make me so happy. It always helps me to push on through work even if I'm having an off day.
I stood in line just to purchase a VS gift card and the cashier at the register hands it to me and asks if anyone helped me with it today . Most confusing day of my life.
Yeah, I wish it was that easy. You have to stay in the Green for each segment. If you fall behind in either the segment sails or spa and you get less hours to work. Like if you are behind, they won’t schedule you.
I’ve been working at VS for 2 years now & ive never heard of “the green zone” 😂 so whatever that is we don’t have that anymore. We still have SPAHS like she was talking about where they would LIKE you to make but if you don’t, it’s not like you get in trouble or something
I applied to work at Victoria's Secret and I did an amazing interview in my opinion, and the interviewee told me they aren't looking for anyone who doesn't have a "mannequin type body" and I still cry about it all the time it made my self esteem plummet
+Maddy c aw thats so heartbreaking! I know at my store they are actually starting to hire bigger people because they are trying to get the image across that they are not only for model figured bodies. Don't be upset that store is just stupid
+Morgan I 'love' how they change their way 180 degrees not because it's humane or the right thing to do but because they're scared the customer trends have changed and they can be boycotted.
I live in NY. I used to work at Toys R Us. We had to work 6 hours minimum to get a half hour break. I remember one day I worked a double. I worked from 10am to 9:45pm. I worked 11 hours and 45 minutes, so I only got one half hour break instead of two because it wasn't twelve hours. And being paid $8.75, I was over it. That happened a few times, then my boss told me I was never gonna do anything with my life since I was always working so I quit.
That's heartbreaking. Honestly, all those bosses who dare to say such things to employees are going to hell. I never worked in retail in USA and never will (I hope) because I see what kind of shitty job it is. Most of the time when I come to the store to buy something I end up picking items from the floor thrown by another customers.
Paige Sullivan I used to work for a pretty big electronics chain, but because i was under 18 when i worked there i did not qualify for the local minimum wage and i honestly made 3.50$ an hour... saturday i worked for 8 hours (10:00-18:00) and i got half an hour brake at 12:00. Sunday i worked for 6 hours (12:00-18:00) and then i had no brakes. Plus we always needed at least another half hour to count the cash registers. So as a 16 y/o i was making 8+ hour days with honetly 1 half hour brake. I'm so glad i'm not working there anymore. Now i make 5$ an hour (i'm 17 now so atill no minimum wage for me... ) but i have 20 min brake every 2 hours ^-^
@@shikkithefirst5393 Boo hoo. I've worked all day with a 30 min break. Fucking crybabies. That is why you whiny bitches will never have a good job. Shit poor employees.
If I have sales person go out of their way to help me, I always tell their manager how awesome that person was. It does help when evaluation time comes around.
I totally know what you mean about feeling like you're conning people and you didn't like selling things you were 100% in love with. This is why I could never work for a retail. Thanks for the video because I love VS and have thought about applying there various times but for now I'll stick to my cafe job. (: love your videos btw
Somehow it can work, but that is if you have your own shop. Then you can say you hate or love an item. My mom never left the board/card game shop without a game, just because she could always count on the professional and honest opinion of the salesperson. He was really energetic and enthusiastic, but also upfront if a game was boring.
I took a retail course when I was younger & the teacher told us that "it doesn't matter if your customer can't put food on the table that night, you SELL them the item" I was mortified.
YES. I totally understand what you were getting at towards the end of your video. Something similar I could compare it to would be when I worked at Marshall's (also affiliated with Tjmaxx and HomeGoods) they'd pressure us to get people to open up their store credit card and if they didn't say yes, the employee's would be the ones scolded for it. They even had charts to pretty much publicly track (in the break room) who was able to get the most credit card openings. Honestly NO ONE really wants a credit card, especially a store one. I know VS also has their Angel cards or whatever (I go there with my gf occasionally) it's just super annoying. I probably would've also stayed in retail for a while longer if it hadn't been for stupid business "tactics" like that
+Shamique Etienne EXACTLY! It's like what Clancy said in her video, like you kind of feel guilty and you almost feel like you're doing something wrong. And say you do get the customer to open a credit card or whatever, you want to be like OMFG please DON'T do this 😂 it's a fcking joke tbh. But you can't say that /:
Nordstrom Rack is the same. There's a white board in the back where everyone can see how many credit cards you've opened and the percentages of how many email receipts you sent (they don't want you to print receipts for customers). It's ridiculous.
That's interesting, the Marshalls in Canada or Winners where I used to work at doesn't have a store credit card but we have a loyalty card. And same thing with the tracking record in the breakeroom, except it was for C.I.P.
I completely agree with you about that last part about the morality aspect about being pressured to push products that you don't even believe in. That's what drove me away from marketing and sales-oriented jobs in the first place. Good on you for speaking out about it.
I love Sephora, Ulta, Victoria's Secret, make up, and I worked a little at these places and I found working in cosmetics and around women is not for me. You can love make up but it doesn't mean its a job meant for you. Working around a bunch of women, there's going to be cattiness, jealousy, stealing sales, it's crazy! That's why I went to college so I can get me a real career where I can work around a diverse group of people.
Its been 2 years since you made this comment. Still feel like a career job is better? Its bad too... people purposely train you half-ass so they can keep their spot. You always have a momma bear at the job who ''knows everything"
+Maddy Harvey shit that would be amazing I'm getting paid 10.50 at McDonald's rn doing everything carrying heavy things cleaning taking orders putting the meals together in the bags and trays and restocking and handling money and keeping the lines going
I worked in retail for 6 years and I will never go back. Like you, I had no idea what people were really like until I worked in a retail environment. I saw grannys scratching people for mink blankets and people sprinting for $2 towels. I love online shopping.
+beautybyk sorry to dissapoint you, it's like that in every store, that's what retail is,every store is pushing forward their brand or their most popular (not neccesary most sellable product)it's up to you as a seller or customer how will you take it, just a sad reality really.
+beautybyk yep, pretty much,i work in retail and belive me if u have some human logic you treat customers as u want to be treated, not pushing every product in their hands, and at the same time being very careful your manager doesn't caught you;D it is stressful and very little people can handle it. I wish we would be paid more for what we doing but in my country this job is actually one of the less paid. sucks.
Once I went to Aeropostale and was looking at their rollerball perfumes and the lady working there told me not to get it be have e rollerball smells completely different and awful compared to the normal perfume aha
You're so much more articulate when it comes to telling stories than a lot of other TH-camrs. I can see why you got so many views, you don't digress and your thoughts were really organized.
I work at sephora and once a man asked to speak to my manager and said very nice things about me so I know how it feels! I love people who take the time to make you feel appreciated even if it's a simple thank you ☺️!
+Non Dan in New York a studio room with a sink and toilet would be about 3,000 a month . Cost of living here is insane. It's hard to be able to survive with 10 an hr
I really love your personality! And I know what you mean when you said your co-workers weren't like you. I notice that a lot when I work with a bunch of people at once and sometimes I feel like I don't click with people that well, but it's hard to put my finger on why. Also, before you even said that you hated selling things you didn't like.. I was thinking the exact same thing when I pictured myself working in retail! I could never force things upon people just to make sales.
The title says " Working at Victoria's Secret | My Experience " which means she talks about it from HER point of view. Also, there is no point like what ? What do you mean straight to the point it's a job like any other job 💁🏽 and if she wasn't kind and funny or gave details in her description , it would make it really boring to watch. So please, if you don't know how to make a successful TH-cam video like her , don't comment 😊.
+DrawnUniverse 5+ hours (not just 5=___ it includes longer shifts) you get a lunch most likely (half hour) and two 15's depending on how many hours. I work 9 hours and can get either an hour OR half hour lunch (my choice) and two 15's during the whole day. Obviously if you work 5 hours you aren't going to take a lunch and then 2 breaks in that short amount of time.
Whenever i go thru the underwear or the bras i make sure to do as less damage as possible because i know the workers have to fold everything after their shift is done. I do that everywhere. It takes sooo long and its such a boring task, easy but boring if you have to fold 100+ pairs of undies.
The first time part of the video where she talked about interview with interview questions make me nervous. It make me feel like as if I was in interview and was expect to answer the questions but I would go blanked headed.
Good for you for realizing morals matter in a job! It's best to learn that early on. I fully agree with you. It's way better to "sell/represent" products you love. Retail takes a certain tough skinned person. Thanks for your honesty here!
everything you said is true!! yesss girl, I know your pain. That is why i left retail, I hated lying to people and dealing with people who were so obsessed with cheap fashion/ materialism
I work in retail and I feel the exact same way! It should never be a competition of how much each worker sells. I wish it would be a little bit more geared towards integrity and helping people when they genuinely need assistance and not feeling like you have to shove options down their throat. So glad I read this experience and can relate!
I used to work at VS too and I felt the same way. The sales pressure was disgusting and you were basically told to harass people until they bought. They would constantly tell us that if someone left without a bag, we failed! HORRIBLE! Also, they also tried to make us pray on women for lack of breasts and sell them the bombshell or a push up to make them fell like a "woman". Gross! So glad I left!
I loath this company. I use to love shopping there. When I had my child 2 years ago, I was shopping for a non nursing bra for a date night with my partner, and was nursing my 4 month old. She was in a wrap and couldn’t even see anything, but was told to leave because it was making shoppers uncomfortable. Like what?! You are surrounded by breasts and don’t like someone using them for what they are meant for? Them asking me to leave for feeding my child and their products are still tested on animals.
Jennifer No Vaxx lol I love you threw in the “animal testing” as if that bothered you prior to he breast situation. Girl shut up you don’t care they test on animals lol
We had this conversation in English class, and came up with the idea that everyone should have experience in working in retail, like if everyone did, we wouldn't have those crazy customers!
This is the first video I've seen from u and think u clearly make ur videos so much fun no matter what it is. I've subscribed and can't wait to see more 😊

i just started working there , can't believe how stressful it is bc they hired me and threw me on the floor and idk what the fuck I'm doing and what I'm selling and this one girl was bossing me around and she wasn't even the boss , its frustrating yeah their hours suck
ahh thank you for this video! I personally love working in retail and I have an interview for Victoria's Secret next week so I really appreciate the tips in this video + you are such a sweet person xxx
Emma Green do you seriously feel the need to correct me on a lot? my space bar is fucked up and doesn't actually space sometimes, its not like i misspelled the word, its just a damn space omg
OMG girl I feel you, like really. I worked for VS for 2 years (Puerto Rico) and I HATED IT! I saw myself in everything you said, it was hilarious, I was laughing the whole video. Thanks for that and sorry for your horrible experience.
Okay wait I watched this like 3 years ago....... and then I recently found your news vlogs/videos whatever you wanna call them... I am COMPLETELY shook
Right? I’ve been watching her for months now but totally forgot about this. I actually never connected the dots until this popped up in my recommended!
Hey 👋 I'm a new subscriber. You're pretty cool. I like how real you are. I can totally relate with retail and feeling morally disgusted with pushing ppl to spend money they probably don't have, on products they don't need. If they (company) want to motivate you (to upsell), commission helps. But it also creates an awkward relationship with the customer. Takes caring about what they need out, and puts sort of aggressiveness toward their pocket book between you. I think ppl who have less empathy are better sales ppl. Anyway, don't be shy to say how you really feel! Keep doin you..and I hope you enjoyed my little rant! 😁
I worked for VS for 3 years and had managers who would get mad for wanting to take an hour break for 9 hour shifts (the law basically). I've never ever had two 15's in one day, even when working well beyond 6 hours.
True! I also felt like I was almost doing something wrong when I worked in retail! I also had something similar to SPA and it scared you into overselling things to people who didn't need them...totally turned me off from retail jobs
One time i wanted to make a return at a VS that wasn't my usual store, it was all good until they asked me for my license! Im underage and don't drive! 😑
+Miranda Berentsen they only ask because it makes it easier to just take your information off of there instead of asking, your name, address, postal code, ect.
+rocknroll029749 sadly you can't use your school ID. I still don't drive, so I don't have one. I asked if I could give them my school ID and they said they couldn't because it didn't have enough information on it.
I totally agree with you on the sales and everything else. Omg, I hated going up to people and asking them, “Hi! Welcome! What are you shopping for today? How can I help you?” Because as a shopper, i don’t like to be bothered. Usually I have an idea of what I’m trying to buy and I remember my store manager used to push that on us.
What I don't understand is WHY some are taught to measure for bra size the way they do (ex: they measure under the armpit above the bust, but I've NEVER seen anyone wear a bra upside down before). Then all these weird "subtract 2, 3, blah blah" ... No, girl, you're making it much more complicated for yourself. When I started handmaking garments is when I learned the proper way. Chest-underbust= cup size, A=1, B=2, C=3, etc for your guideline, and your underbust IS your band size (32D means 32" underbust with a 4" difference between the underbust and actual bust). Of course this is just a guide since companies vary but it's boobs and not rocket science, so let's not try to make it complicated.
One word. Aritzia. You've described a ton of what I felt working there. Yes there were some nice customers (very few mind you), but most of my experience especially when dealing with management was high stress, all about numbers, stroking peoples egos, and anxiety driven work tactics. The girls were stressed unless they were the top earner and top earners got the best shifts which created more sales....no surprise there as this is not a NEW theory or way for sales to be handled. But now I'm in a REAL sales role which is more about humanity, customer service and listening to peoples needs rather than pushing them into a behaviour or ideal which wasn't theirs to begin with. NEVER AGAIN Aritzia!
I feel that way all the time. I hate selling products that I don't believe in but I just applied for another retail job....THIS TIME, I made sure that I liked what they were selling and that I would wear the clothes myself so that I can sell them with pride and meet my sales goals. I just took the whole process of choosing which store I wanted more seriously so that I could succeed as well as help other people in the best way I can. I won't have to lie to people anymore :)
I could never sell merchandise I don't believe in. $10 an hour not even going to pay the rent in California. i shop at VS and will take who helps me more serious now. I've always had a great experience.
everyone always says that when you work at VS yoou have to wear all black, but in both of the malls around me the some employees wear leggings and uggs like just really casual clothes so would that be the manager or
+xonanagirl PINK is a Victoria's Secret's clothing brand , and most stores are combined with a PINK and a VS. However , usually at more populous areas there will be a free standing store with just PINK products , no regular VS along with it.
I subscribed to you after watching this video, I like how honest you were and I completely agree with the whole SPA thing and not feeling so great at the end of the day. I recently quit my marketing job because of similar reasons and although the pay was great, I was not happy. Looking forward to watching more of your videos!
I had a very similar experience working at victoria's secret! worked there right after freshman year ended in the summer of 2013, then I also worked there during winter break cause they needed extra hands and i needed the money. it was super stressful, not fun (but my favorite was cash wrap!). i remember, like you the very first day they threw me on the floor in the front room and had me greet customers - of course that's were everyone comes in with their questions and I was just like .... uh i know zilch about the product haha. I learned eventually, but no one ever bothered to say: hey this is the Very Sexy and it differs from the Bombshell because XYZ. the worst was when i was working during the holidays (super busy time, endless lines and non-stop moving) and some guy bought a bra - i asked him if he wanted a gift box and he said yes, so i put the folded box in the bag. Then he said, aren't you going to wrap it? and I said of course i can wrap it. Folded it in tissue paper and placed it in the box. Five minutes later i get my manager on the headset saying she wants to talk to me. The guy complained about me and said i was very unprofessional and rude. It literally ruined my entire day, I felt so ashamed! I felt so bad because i didn't know i was coming across like that, and i was so embarassed that my manager had to talk to me about it (probably not a big deal but i always HATED getting reprimanded, even in high school when the teacher would say "stop talking!") Anyways, it was a good learning experience, but definitely not a fun one. We also got a TON of shrink at my store since it was a big downtown location. Also such a weird situation and very difficult to handle! i probably did 2 shrink returns a day and each time i had to walk this line between letting them get away with it and making it difficult/uncomfortable for them to do so
Pretty much my story, that was why I quitted the hotel reception. Wasn't comfortable counting money, being pressured, bad hours etc Thanks for a very open and interesting talk! :)
My experience working at VS. 10 dollars an hour, 30 percent off at VS, BBW, Limited, and another store we didn't have. Free bras, panties, perfumes, ETC. No on call. My coworkers were my family, I LOVED them. Back stock and panty bar was the spawn of Satan, as were shipment mornings when you have to come in at 3:00 am. Floor sets were the bomb, it would be a big potluck and we'd wear PJS. As far as feeling bad for selling to customers, you were doing it wrong. You tell the customer about the sales, ask them what you can help them find and then build a wardrobe for them. It's ultimately their decision to buy the matching panty when maybe they just came in for a bra.
Lucky, we got some free stuff but then they started charging us for sets. Perfumes were smaller, but no on calls how?! Ohhhh inventory was terrriible lol
Omg you've changed so much I just watched ur reporter video and like wow ur so different but not in a bad way at all!! I can't believe how much your life is changing
Omg, finally someone who knows what its like. I hated that it was always about the money/sales, Wish It was truely about helping customers. Definitely taught me a lot working at VS
When you said how you'd feel guilty about selling customers things they dont need I resonated with that so well. Sometimes at work I sell things to people who are clueless or have no idea and seem to just say yes to anything, and it makes me feel suuuper guilty going home for the day. They're always watching our numbers and if we dont sell too well, its just...you risk losing your job. I wish it were different lmao
Am I the only one (as a customer) that'll put clothing I don't want back to the proper place? If I see a shirt in the wrong section, I'll put it in the right one. I don't know... seems rude to not do that.
Same!
I also like picking up clothing that's fallen on the ground. I just always feel bad for seeing it and not doing anything about it.
+Rocky Z me too!
Me too !!!! 😄
Miss Vendetta OMGGGGG SAMEEEE. i thought I was the only humane person in the mall at the time 😂
Now I understand why those girls in VS are constantly after me the second in the door....
I really hate that so much!!!
+Kourttneex3 almost anytime a sales associate harasses you in a store it's the manager forcing them to sadly :(
Brittany Clark NOOOOO :(
I work at Rue21 and I am required to "fragrance strip" customers, basically showing off our perfumes we have and we have to sell a certain amount perfume a day. I don't like it because I get sassy and rude people who don't pay attention to me when I speak to them. And then at the register I am required to ask for their email and people are just so rude.
+Kertney I work at Rue too and I wish people would understand that we have to ask for info and push fragrances!
I have no problem wearing all black everyday.
Same
Almost every time I go shopping , I wear all black and people ask if I work in the store. Especially in old navy and jcpenney

That's the tea, sis!🐸☕☕
I currently work at starbucks lol I recently just applied to Victoria's secret. wearing all black won't bother me I love black
Its Neka same I work at Starbucks I just got the Victoria secret job as well
I know it’s too late but what happened ? Did you get the job ?
me now but i work at vs
+Shelovescouture well thanks for that. now i know not to completly trust them when buying gifts for my gf
And now I find this out years later... like wtf.
thank you for posting this. Now I know to not let my daughter get lured in when she starts makeup lol. very helpful
lol I would have LOVED the all black dress code though
Same I love black
+Sonia I already live the all black dress code tbh
+May A same tbh

I hate that victoria secret has that system where they ask you who helped you. I was in US with a friend this year and we had like 5 people from the same store asking us "can I help you with anything today" and they were asking us soon many times. Then when we finally bought something they asked us who helped us and we could only choose 1. But I find victoria secret workers sooo salesly and that makes sense because they have that system, but it was very annoying for us who are not used to that
I hate that.. when they're constantly asking if I need help, I leave.. I usually tell workers that if I need help, I'll go look for them.. best buy can get annoying..
If the cashier asks if i got help i just say no tbh
It's hard for me to find someone to help me when I go lol
That’s why I lie and say myself 😂😂😂😂😂
Rated R Sports Cards & Games the workers hate it even more than you do trust me but they get in trouble if they don’t ask
Where I work (Big Y, it's a grocery store) customers are able to talk to the manager if they really enjoyed their experience and tell them about it and then the managers make a board and put all of the nice things up each month and looking at them and seeing your name and the nice things they said just make me so happy. It always helps me to push on through work even if I'm having an off day.
that's so sweet :)
I work at one too! Same thing at my location, it's super lovely!
+Lindsey Milton That is a so much better business tactic than to just track sales!!
This has been on my suggestions forever this better be fucking good😂
Ok it was good you've gained a new subscriber xx

Lol!! Yes

I stood in line just to purchase a VS gift card and the cashier at the register hands it to me and asks if anyone helped me with it today . Most confusing day of my life.
The green zone thing sounds like primary school behaviour charts from like 3rd grade haha
Ella Lucy OMG YES I CAN RELATE
Ella Lucy lol yes
Omg yes
Yeah, I wish it was that easy. You have to stay in the Green for each segment. If you fall behind in either the segment sails or spa and you get less hours to work. Like if you are behind, they won’t schedule you.
I’ve been working at VS for 2 years now & ive never heard of “the green zone” 😂 so whatever that is we don’t have that anymore. We still have SPAHS like she was talking about where they would LIKE you to make but if you don’t, it’s not like you get in trouble or something
You look like louisa from Jane the virgin!! So pretty
Omg she kinda does 😂
Omg she does look like a younger version of her. Her face expressions are similar as well.
+Nina Nguyen Omg YES SHE DOES HOLY CRAP !!!!
Ikr
+Nina Nguyen oh my god she does
I applied to work at Victoria's Secret and I did an amazing interview in my opinion, and the interviewee told me they aren't looking for anyone who doesn't have a "mannequin type body" and I still cry about it all the time it made my self esteem plummet
+Shamique Etienne I did report it, they told me they were sorry for the inconvenience but the job had been taken and have a nice day.
Message the company!
+Maddy c aw thats so heartbreaking! I know at my store they are actually starting to hire bigger people because they are trying to get the image across that they are not only for model figured bodies. Don't be upset that store is just stupid
Thank you all for such sweet messages
+Morgan I 'love' how they change their way 180 degrees not because it's humane or the right thing to do but because they're scared the customer trends have changed and they can be boycotted.
thats cool this is the first ever vid im watching from u and imma be subcribing😊
+jamilah wahab yay! :)

+jamilah wahab SAME :D
Same! I love how she presents and talks to the camera.
Paige Sullivan lol i work for Toys and Victorias now..
I worked at a skating rink, I’d work 10 am- midnight and we didn’t get any breaks, I was in pain by the time I sat in the car
Youre so pretty!! It's interesting to see how other people feel about retail, I feel the same lol
+Meg Cat MEGGGGG
I love you so much Meg!!
Love you meggggg
I agree!
Omg I love you❤❤
I totally know what you mean about feeling like you're conning people and you didn't like selling things you were 100% in love with.
I took a retail course when I was younger & the teacher told us that "it doesn't matter if your customer can't put food on the table that night, you SELL them the item"
I was mortified.
I probably would've also stayed in retail for a while longer if it hadn't been for stupid business "tactics" like that
I used to work at Marshalls too and I know exactly what you mean!!! But I gave 0 fucks and sold 0 credit cards lol
+MsPinkLaugh hahah i feel you! I could honestly care less too. LIKE PLEASE FIRE ME. lmao
MusicandDancing4Ever yes girl! 🙌🏻
Retail sucks but I worked at Ulta for 6 months and it was the sweetest, most supportive group of girls ever!
MusicandDancing4Ever Overpriced stores!!!
Its been 2 years since you made this comment. Still feel like a career job is better? Its bad too... people purposely train you half-ass so they can keep their spot. You always have a momma bear at the job who ''knows everything"
I always wondered why they ask me who helped me today. I normally forget her name. Now I will make sure I don't!
I'd rather wear all black than white. worked at VS'S sister store Bath and Body Works and I wished we wore black!
yes omg!! i work at VS now and it is literally my life
gabby salzillo for work un victorias secret You have yo be tall?
gabby salzillo congrats lol
Polilla no that's to be a model
Polilla no there’s a difference between working at the store and actually modeling
lmfao "$10 an hour which is pretty much minimum wage"? LOL, I make $7.50 doing hard physical labor.
Move to Canada. Our minimum wage is 11.80 and Macdonalds workers get seventeen an hour.
+Maddy Harvey Bye mom! I'm moving up north to flip burgers for the rest of my life! LOL ^3^
+Maddy Harvey shit that would be amazing I'm getting paid 10.50 at McDonald's rn doing everything carrying heavy things cleaning taking orders putting the meals together in the bags and trays and restocking and handling money and keeping the lines going
Minimum wage for students is higher than normal minimum wage at least that's how it is in Tennessee
I think minimum wage depends on the cost of living in your state. The cost of living in her state is probably higher so the minimum wage is too.
I worked in retail for 6 years and I will never go back. Like you, I had no idea what people were really like until I worked in a retail environment. I saw grannys scratching people for mink blankets and people sprinting for $2 towels. I love online shopping.
hi Clancy! im new and I love you already 😭😍😍
+Angel Dizon Yay!! I love you too
+Clancy Burke your so pretty!!!

wow I wouldn't want to work somewhere where they tell me/force me to say a product is good when it's not.
+beautybyk sorry to dissapoint you, it's like that in every store, that's what retail is,every store is pushing forward their brand or their most popular (not neccesary most sellable product)it's up to you as a seller or customer how will you take it, just a sad reality really.
+Tia Lipovsek wow that is some messed up crap
+beautybyk yep, pretty much,i work in retail and belive me if u have some human logic you treat customers as u want to be treated, not pushing every product in their hands, and at the same time being very careful your manager doesn't caught you;D it is stressful and very little people can handle it. I wish we would be paid more for what we doing but in my country this job is actually one of the less paid. sucks.
But isnt that just retail in general?
Once I went to Aeropostale and was looking at their rollerball perfumes and the lady working there told me not to get it be have e rollerball smells completely different and awful compared to the normal perfume aha
How many underaged or teen girls come in and act too mature 😂
Actually I was thinking 10 year olds who act like little brats
FireBird0x0 ok, but every girl wears a bra 😂 I see what you mean but like it depends on ur size too no hate tho😁
Zoya Chaudry frfr though because they feel since they have a big butt or boobs there grow😬
Grown
I’m 17 and their bra’s just fit me the best. I didn’t realize shopping there when youre a teen ,put a label on you🙄😂
You're so much more articulate when it comes to telling stories than a lot of other TH-camrs. I can see why you got so many views, you don't digress and your thoughts were really organized.
I work at sephora and once a man asked to speak to my manager and said very nice things about me so I know how it feels! I love people who take the time to make you feel appreciated even if it's a simple thank you ☺️!
My aunt works at the American Girl Store and the moms are literally crazy. One wanted to return her doll because she said it was possessed😂
that's so good minimum wage in Indiana is $7.25 $10 is amazing lol
Right?! but cost of living, didn't she say she was in NY so honestly $10/hr doesn't go that far there unfortunately.
+Non Dan in New York a studio room with a sink and toilet would be about 3,000 a month . Cost of living here is insane. It's hard to be able to survive with 10 an hr
Exactly! I live in San Diego which is also crazy rent but not that crazy, I couldn't imagine!
Well, the cost of living in California balances out the minimum wage in crease always... so we never really get ahead. :/
Cinthya Anaya I live in Indiana!!
Try waiting tables. It's worse than retail. Trust me.
Alayna M holy crap yeah
Alayna M 1000xs yes
Yes!
retail is awful but I'm a server and that's where the real crazy people show up
I've worked on both and both are great and both are awful at the same time. It all depends on the enviroment you work at.
AHHHHH!!! I love your channel
You're beautiful but I wish you can just go straight to the point...I mean this can be a 5-minute video instead of a 13-minute one.
+kongma 13 mins is more fun!!!! ;)
Clancy Burke This is the first time I watch your videos, so I guess maybe if I know you better I would enjoy a longer video.
I like long videos
A A Not for newcomers, I guess.
If I work a day of 10 hours I get two 15 minute breaks what do you mean 5 hours equals half and hour AND two 15 minute ones?!
+DrawnUniverse at my work (grocery store) i work 8 hours on a Sunday and get two fifteen minute breaks and half an hour for lunch
omg larry
omg larry
omg larry
Aw I feel bad I sometimes forget their names when they ask who helped me out, but I'll really try to remember now ! I'd also be stressed
We had this conversation in English class, and came up with the idea that everyone should have experience in working in retail, like if everyone did, we wouldn't have those crazy customers!
where is $10 an hour minimum wage?? 😳 I wanna go there
+LuckyLondon62 I think she lives in new york, but the price of living can be so much more expensive so things even out:)
+LuckyLondon62 Washington's minimum wage is $947 per hour.
In Canada all minimum wages are above $10.30(:
Minimum wage is $12.25 in San Francisco and $9.00 everywhere else in California
+Amy Sandoval now it's $10 in California🙌🏼
OMG clancyyyyyy I remember watching your iPod touch unboxing back in 2012 hahah and now I found you again ❤️❤️❤️

Is $10 your minimum wage. In New Zealand it's $15.50
In the US it's $7.25
move to new zealand you will get $15.50 an hour
Yeah I can definitely make that happen with the $8.32 I make an hour

$10 an hour seems pretty nice! My two first jobs, one at a retirement community and the other as a cashier was $7 an hour.
i just started working there , can't believe how stressful it is bc they hired me and threw me on the floor and idk what the fuck I'm doing and what I'm selling
and this one girl was bossing me around and she wasn't even the boss , its frustrating
yeah their hours suck
ahh thank you for this video! I personally love working in retail and I have an interview for Victoria's Secret next week so I really appreciate the tips in this video + you are such a sweet person xxx
I did not know you worked at VS! Have you ever mentioned it before or am I crazy?
+Julia Corley I think she briefly did mention it a long time ago!
+Julia Corley she mentioned it in vlogs that summer quite alot
+callmebobb a lot*
Emma Green do you seriously feel the need to correct me on a lot? my space bar is fucked up and doesn't actually space sometimes, its not like i misspelled the word, its just a damn space omg
+callmebobb omg chill
OMG girl I feel you, like really. I worked for VS for 2 years (Puerto Rico) and I HATED IT! I saw myself in everything you said, it was hilarious, I was laughing the whole video. Thanks for that and sorry for your horrible experience.
Okay wait I watched this like 3 years ago....... and then I recently found your news vlogs/videos whatever you wanna call them... I am COMPLETELY shook
Right? I’ve been watching her for months now but totally forgot about this. I actually never connected the dots until this popped up in my recommended!
Holyy shitttt i rmr this video long ago and then i recently picked up on your anchor vids recently AND YOU THE SAME GIRL IM SHOOOK
Lmao, I knew I recognized her name from somewhere. I remember this video showing up in my recommendations like two years ago.
Those big shiny glittery high heels and the glittery body dress in the background is distracting and funny !!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Eghlima kohan lol true
Maybe shes a stripper now lol
I worked for VS for 3 years and had managers who would get mad for wanting to take an hour break for 9 hour shifts (the law basically).
I've never ever had two 15's in one day, even when working well beyond 6 hours.
This was SUPER eyeopening!!!!
True! I also felt like I was almost doing something wrong when I worked in retail! I also had something similar to SPA and it scared you into overselling things to people who didn't need them...totally turned me off from retail jobs
It's such a relief to know other people feel this way!
Clancy has grown up so much in 4 years. Such a beautiful interesting person.
One time i wanted to make a return at a VS that wasn't my usual store, it was all good until they asked me for my license! Im underage and don't drive! 😑
You should have some type of ID. I've had an ID since I was like, twelve. It's a new rule we have to follow!
+Miranda Berentsen they only ask because it makes it easier to just take your information off of there instead of asking, your name, address, postal code, ect.
Just use your school ID
If you go to the DMV, or whatever the license office is called where you live, you can get a non-drivers ID.
+rocknroll029749 sadly you can't use your school ID. I still don't drive, so I don't have one. I asked if I could give them my school ID and they said they couldn't because it didn't have enough information on it.
ah where I work you only get one thirty minute break for every 6 hours you work
+Hope Beard Same. :/ It's horrible.
I get 10 minutes... Unless it's like a 10 hour shift then 30 minutes unpaid
+Maddie Dunn my breaks are unpaid too but dang that's awful where you work?
+Hope Beard talk with a labor union. They could help you
Lol I have worked 14 hour days with not even a 5 minute break... Welcome to the life of a barista
Now a news reporter yessssss!!!!!
What's your job now? I always thought that being in retail would be okay for me but it's actually really stressful...
Watching in June 2018 lol 😆 omg I’ve never worked for retail other than at dollar tree ... but just for 2 months.
Working at VS in the mall brings me hell 😂😂😂 Shop lifters just always think they are slick 💀 "MAY I help you???!"
my sister works at victorious secret and she says its always the 13-15 year old girls that come in w/o parents 💀💀
everyone always says that when you work at VS yoou have to wear all black, but in both of the malls around me the some employees wear leggings and uggs like just really casual clothes so would that be the manager or
They probably have a free standing pink store when the associates and managers get to wear pink to help them sell it.
Coral Rodriguez what is a free standing store
+xonanagirl PINK is a Victoria's Secret's clothing brand , and most stores are combined with a PINK and a VS. However , usually at more populous areas there will be a free standing store with just PINK products , no regular VS along with it.
Alexis Fuhrey ohhh okay. it is a free standing store
I subscribed to you after watching this video, I like how honest you were and I completely agree with the whole SPA thing and not feeling so great at the end of the day. I recently quit my marketing job because of similar reasons and although the pay was great, I was not happy. Looking forward to watching more of your videos!
THIS IS HOW I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL !!! So funny, love it
I did not know that about SPA! From now on I will say a name if I got help
You hate retail, you should try fast food...
RIGHT
Retail.. Fast Food.. Public service
They all suck.
Working from home is the way to go!
Wasn't comfortable counting money, being pressured, bad hours etc
Thanks for a very open and interesting talk! :)
your personality is so nice and refreshing! Good job!!
I love you and your personality! After first 15 secs on me watching your videos I subscribed! Hahah
+Zazzling hahaha aww you're the best !
There wasnt a second interview when I applied, after the first interview I was hired.
Here have a medal😏
Amber Martin there were probably more people applying when she did it
Omg you've changed so much I just watched ur reporter video and like wow ur so different but not in a bad way at all!! I can't believe how much your life is changing
I love your videos! You're so cheerful and happy and really brighten my day! Keep it up!
Didn't know about spa, I will definitely mention names... I hate when people try to help me unless I ask them to help me.
I just found your channel!! You are gorgeous girl! I love watching these job hiring videos. We should collab sometime :)
+savannahandstuff Definitely! :)
+Clancy Burke Wanna do a collab ?
Working in retail I learned that when a client speaks to you like shit. Speak to them even shittier. ;)
My first day of working/ orientation at victoria's secret is tomorrow... any advice?
