Honestly, if you work in customer service and HAVEN'T ever cried, either at work or after work when you got home, you don't work in customer service. At our workplace the most chipper, can-do staff member we have EVER had cried a few times.

LordofFullmetal I work at vets office and I cried because I client screamed at me for 10 minutes saying that I am the reason that their dog died while under anesthesia for surgery. They would also call ask to speak to me and do the same thing every time they come in now they scream at me about how I am a dog killer and shouldn’t be employed.

I've never understood the "be nice to the customer even for they are horrible", ymmm no, act like a proper adult. Your kids see that and that sets an example. I much rather lose our business then be bullied. You don't have to be rude back, but you can politely to ask them to act appropriately.

I know this is an older comments but I personally am nice to rude customers because it pisses them off even more and it's amusing to me, it also makes them look like even bigger assholes to those witnessing everything. Also helps covers my ass if they go to the manager trying to report me for some bs claim and makes them look like an even bigger asshat

I've worked in customer service, whether food, retail, or career jobs, since I was 17, I'm 40 now. I do my utmost to be very respectful and friendly to customers, but at 40, with TWO degrees, I don't take shit from ANY customer whatsoever. I WILL and DO get an attitude back. But only if they're rude and condescending first. I had one customer who acted like I was an idiot, I flat out told this person 'you know, just because I'm currently working here, does not mean I don't have education. I HAVE gone and finished college. Thx.' Trust me, I might work in customer service and do my best to be an excellent customer helper, but I can be just as bitchy back. The pay we get is NOT worth the problems we encounter.

I work as a check in agent for a US airline in Spain. Most passengers are American. Surprisingly my experience is very different from all the videos about terrible customers I've seen. As if they were actually from a different country. They don't do shady things to screw you and most of them are well behaved. They almost never complain. I had that passenger who wanted to have his baggage checked all the way through, which was not possible. He had already given me an attitude ("but on our way in it was checked all the way"...) So I basically told him I was not making the rules. Like I don't care if you're flying in business class or insist or whatever. Sometimes you just have to tell things in a clear way so that they won't insist. When you feel that you are the one in control, that no one is gonna tell you how you are supposed to do your job, everything works so much better. If you wanna put a claim please do (it only happened to me twice and they were not from the US). I don't care since I'm following the policy of the company 😘

"The pay we get is not worth the problems we encounter" Damn i need to remember that. I pride myself in having excellent customer service but the people i work with have told me so many times "youre so sweet to people that turn around and treat u like shit." The amount of people that treat me like i'm completely stupid or dont deserve respect because im a pretty young girl... Good lord. And nobody has manners. It is so rare to hear a please or a thank you from people. Most people just walk up and say "I want..." Or even worse, "Give me..." Like where is the home training? Nah, i'm SO over it. People need to learn if you want respect, they have to respect others first

I just had a customer have a mental break down on me today to which she got professionally and politely made to shut the heck up and listen... I work in cosmetics in a department store and this lady and her friend come storming up to me looking furious. I ask them if I can help to they replied yeah no ones working in this store right now and I need YOU to find me a “winter white pair of slacks”. ( mind you 3 other people where in my department alone and another 12 where on the sales floor) I told her I’m sorry that I had not seen any since we are going into winter (many of the brands we carry only send us white pants in the spring). I then tried to explain I could take her to the woman’s department and have an associate there check our online ordering system to see if any where in stock on it. I work cosmetics and don’t know our clothing that well so I would have no idea what to even search for in our ordering system to find anything like she’s describing. OF COURSE I HAD TO BE CHEWED OUT FOR IT. Customer replies “why can’t you do it you’re right here? I need help and I need it now what are you too lazy?” Again I tried to explain I don’t work in clothing and wouldn’t be able to help her that much. Then it went into “how dare you not carry winter white pants in the winter time!! This is the worst store ever” Okay well I can’t control our stock. Finally after 20 mins of trying to help her find these white pants ( which she didn’t even know her size, or the style of pant she wanted) in our ordering system with no luck because I had no specifics to go off, “just white winter slacks” she finally yells at me again.. “do you even know what the hell you are doing?” I looked at her dead in the eye and go “no mam I really don’t, I told you I wasn’t going to be of much help and tried to get you to the right department to better assist you but you insisted I did it instead.” Customer looks confused and a bit embarrassed.. “ would you like me to walk you over to the woman who’s in charge of woman’s clothing?” She nods and can’t even make a sentence. needless to say she stayed pretty quite afterwards and realized I wasn’t trying to be “lazy and not help her” you came to cosmetics to look for pants... 🙄 or just to harass someone because our store didn’t cater to your sense of fashion.

i worked as a lifeguard for 4 years and i cant tell you how many times moms yelled at me for saving their kid from drowning. like i told a mom hey your kid cant swim i just had to save him and she LITERALLY got yelled at me for not letting her kid in the deep end alone without a life jacket...?????????????????????

    • @delaneysingletary7350
      @delaneysingletary7350 5 ปีที่แล้ว +21

okay, I know this is like two years later, but I was lifeguarding recently and this mom literally ran over to my coworker, yelling at him to jump in and save her son, who was neither struggling to swim, nor was he drowning or anywhere near. He essentially had to jump into the pool to pull a kid out, simply because the mom thought her son "looked" too tired to make it all the way across. and then she got mad at him (my coworker) for 'not noticing before" the child was directly in his line of sight, like lady, don't you think if he needed to be saved, it would have happened? she literally speed-walked around an olympic size pool just to yell at a lifeguard.

    • @ZestyAqua
      @ZestyAqua 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Mariah Back Yes, 2 yrs later but, you did your job kudos for that now, nature can eliminate the ones in society we can do without since your skillset is actually more important than others sense of superiority & entitlement.
I've noticed I'm not good at direct face to face customer service. Once had a man throw an old fashioned phone at me in a hospital when I was volunteering. Horny men hitting on me at Gymboree with their pregnant women by them. A man who screamed at me when working the counter at Dollar Rent a Car in Nashville the airport location. Luckily, I was rather loved by the other staff including a security guard TSA agent strip searched him. It was worth it for that moment. Finally, I ducked down into callcenters more and jobs with less exposure to the public.
Sadly, office cattiness and politics opens a new level of frustration we have to deal with- female coworkers can be cutthroat. I was flashed by a guy at one job - raped by another coworker at another job yet, the females I found more devastating if that makes any sense?
I have so many Worker Warrior stories I could make a series myself. God forbid we make a livable wage & other humans treat people with respect especially in the service industry. Hate for that to happen.
Point in my COMMENT ESSAY we have the skills we worked hard to develop nothing was just handed to us. I try to think of Bob Ross "Happy Trees" when customers or coworkers cause stress. Doesn't always work but, I try. As for this TH-camr she has brains, kindness and is beautiful from the inside out. Like the cussing it is the Salty bitch side you need to push thru life.
We are Worker Warriors yes, wage slaves (it's real) but, the fact we built these skills is truly impressive.

I used to work at ulta and one time this woman and two kids walked in , and it was not very busy that day . She had about a 4 year old son and a 12 or 13 year old daughter. So this lady wants to go look in the hair care section, but her son didn't want to go over there , he wanted to stay in the front of the store idk y ?? So she says "ma'am would you mind watching my son while I go over here "!!! I say sure ?? The kid is just minding his own business lookin at the eyeshadows , and then I loose track of him , so I go and look for him and what do I see ? He was pumping out a $60 YSL foundation onto the floor , and a little bit hit on his shoes !!!! Then I bring him to his mom everything is cool you know , I start to clean the mess , and about 5 minutes later she comes over and says "why would you spill a bottle of foundation onto my sons shoes?" I said "ma'am I didn't I'm sorry but I found your son pumping it out into the floor " ! And she says "well I hope you get fired " and then just walks right out of the store ??! You're not liable for that, and if something actually happened to that kid, even if it isn't your fault, she could sue the hell out of your company, so be careful. I worked in a cafe and I didn't even agree to watch people's belongings (laptop, bag, etc.) when they went to the bathroom. If someone comes up and takes their shit and I don't see them or can't stop them I'm not paying for their shit. I have a job to do and watching belongings or kids isn't it.

I moved to another country, with a different language than my mother tongue, and got my first job three months ago. People are soooo rude and you didn't realise that 100% till you work in retail. Like, I am alone, most days with personal problems, working in a new place with people speaking another language and I know is not their problem but be kind is free. You never know what a person is going through!. My second week at work I was crying too, and there are way too many times after the first "big cry" when you have like the first rude stupid human where you want to cry again but you just have to learn and keep going. Is really hard sometimes and I don't get people really. Now, when I go into any shop I'm even more nice than I was before working in retail.
I truly believe that most of the people being so disrespectful have never worked with customers, or may they be so old that they don't remember. Because in my case old ladies are always the rudest ones.

I love story times!! Tell us more about work, what your jobs have been, any party incidence, family stuff, anything!!
My worst customer experience was when I was a barista at a Starbucks that was in a Safeway grocery store. Our espresso machine was broken one day, and we were telling customers that we may not be able to make their espresso drink, but we'd happily make them a cold drink or something. One customer was so MAD at this he yelled at us. He then found the Safeway manager and told him that my coworker and I should be fired. Because the machine didn't work. That machine that we weren't responsible for fixing. Yeah.
Also at that job, since it was in a grocery store, people could buy food at our till. A woman once came up to the till to buy a bag of sunflower seeds that she had already opened and was eating. She pulled the money out of her bra to pay me. IN CHANGE. IT WAS WARM. SHE PAID ME WITH WARM BOOB COINS.

At the very fucking least though, put it in a small coin purse or something, not direct money-to-breast contact. When I visited her and saw her pull the money out of her shirt at the store, I just flushed and looked away.

I think the weirdest one I had was a lady went and got my manager because she thought I was too young to be working, I was 19 at the time but she was convinced I was like 12 or something. She kicked up a huge fuss about it - I did not have ID on me at the time (didn't think I would need it to work) but she eventually left when she realised she was not getting anywhere. We also often had people switching prices on stuff to try to get it cheaper and then arguing that it was the right price... when the barcode clearly showed a different item... sigh.

UGHHHH I think the "customer is always right" thing has turned so many (American, at least) customers into entitled psychos. I worked at a very famous coffee chain where we all wore green aprons for 2+ years, and so many customers were a NIGHTMARE. One morning, when we were one person short because someone had called in sick and when one of the espresso machines had broken down, we were getting out drinks slower than normal. Mind you, I was still running around like my hair was on fire so that people wouldn't wait too long. Seriously, I was a blur. No one had complained until Linda. F*cking Linda. This woman loudly complains that we are making her late. I apologize that she is waiting. She then DEMANDS THAT HER DRINK BE MADE BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE'S. Before people who had been waiting patiently! Inside, I was like, "Oh hell no." I apologized again but said I couldn't make hers first because that wouldn't be fair to the other people waiting. (After Linda left, another woman came up to say that I handled the situation very well.) Anyway, she ended up getting a refund at the register so she could leave, but by then she'd spent so long complaining that I got to her drink. So she got a refund AND got her drink for free, then left.
I seriously hate the rampant entitlement that people have when it comes to customer service. I hate that service workers are expected to smile while being treated like garbage. It's quite frankly dehumanizing. I honestly wish that every single person were conscripted into customer service for like 2 years--kind of like having to serve in the army--before being allowed to go to college or get another job. Because maybe then they might realize that it is completely ridiculous to SCREAM AT SOMEONE over a damn cheese pizza or a latte.

This one happened to me recently, actually. I was working in the photo department at my store, and I was right in the middle of helping a lady at the computer, helping her get her photos uploaded and all that fun stuff so she could get prints. I could see it was getting a bit busy, but we did have a lot of people on shift so I wasn't worried about it. Eventually our front cashier calls for another cashier to help with the line, and not two seconds later a lady came up to me and was like "Can you ring me up over here?" and, maybe I didn't word things the best, but I said "I can, but they are calling someone up to the second register so it will go faster. But if you want to wait a second-" then she cuts me off and says in a really snappy tone "If you don't want to help me that's fine, I'll just go back." and I tried to explain myself but she cut me off and, in that same attitude, said it was fine. And it's like, first of all, I can't just drop everything with another customer just to ring someone up, that would be rude. And because of that it would be a lot faster for her to just go back and let the second register person help her. But she acted as though I was standing there doing nothing and I had said that.

Keep in mind that the shelves were about 5 feet in height so even I could see into other aisles. So I asked him if he was finding everything alright. He shook his head and said fuck you. He proceeded to go off on a rant about how we were paid $20 per hour (lol I wish) to stalk and treat customers like thieves. Ironically, he yelled at another coworker on his way out that he made more money than all of us combined. All because I asked him if he needed help after he walked into the aisle TOWARDS me!

I feel ya girl. I cashier at a grocery store and this one time I had like a 40 year old man yell at me for entering the amount of money he gave me into my register. He started mouthing off that our generation can't do math and has to use technology all the time and he was pissed. However, it is literally my job to put the tender into the machine because that is a necessary step for the till to open to get the change out. It was ridiculous.
We also are supposed to limit coupons to one per customer and none of us do. The system is set up in a way that if someone wants to buy more items than the limit on the coupon, they have to do 2 transactions (as if they were 2 different customers). I explained to a customer that we have to do 2 transactions in order to get the coupon price and he got so mad. It felt like his eyes were bulging out of his head. He was so peeved that he would have to slide his credit card twice even though the transaction would take 30 seconds or less. He absolutely refused to slide his card twice so he just left. like ???
Man, working in the service industry is just so fun! But I actually do really enjoy my job 90% of the time it's just that sometimes people are unbelievable.

I've had so many parties show up 1 or 2 hour late (Or even not show up at all) and act like it was our problem when their schedule was screwed up ( we have a strict schedule because parties are usually back to back ) that always pissed me off!! Oh, and I can relate to the whole 'setting up' thing, I hate when the mom comes in with freaking 10000 decorations for a 2 hour party for her little 3-year-old, by the time we set it all up it's late and everything set back and she get pissed at me and wants to kill me because she got her food 'too early' or what not when it was her who brought in a load of uneeded crap to a 2 hour party that a 3-year-old isn't even going to remember that set the whole schedule to flames! I can go on and on about working at a bowling alley as a party host but all I will say is don't work at one. Yeah, you get free bowling but if you like dealing with 20 nasty bratty kids/teens/parents for 3 hours at a time, this sure is the job for you!

I have worked in retail stores for about 7 years and 2 years in to I stopped accepting the line that "you just have to deal with difficult people." In the sense that you must let people yell at you, or otherwise speak to you in a way that would be inappropriate to do so to a stranger. I may work in this place you are stepping in to, but as far as you are concerned I am a stranger to you. When people have raised their voice at me I tell them that if they have done that to get their way in the past then they will be surprised at the outcome this time. I have had people apologize to me following this because people know that when they yell at service people who have not yelled at them, they are doing something wrong.

She kept talking about me in front of me as if I couldn't hear her calling me a bitch and trash and how she wasn't going to tip me and my f a v o r i t e: told one of her 8 year old guests to mash cake in the carpet. Her family kept checking in on me for the whole party. They were so sweet "you're doing a great job sweetie" and all that. This is going to be a long comment as I have a lot to say about this particular situation, so I’m sorry in advance. When I was just turning 17 I got a job at a local small business around 7 minutes from my home. Just for context’s sake, a family member of mine is the manager of this particular location. I think it was about six months into me working there when I had the most horrendous woman call me on the phone. I also have to add that I am alone in the shop during many if not all of my shifts (the only times when I work with someone else is during an opening shift while my family member sorts the store and gets products ready. I have only worked about three of those as we typically have two employees that exclusively open the shop). This was one day when I was completely alone or else I would have shoved the phone straight at my manager to deal with. It was around 6pm when she called. At first she was deceptively kind to me, being polite, asking me about what options we had in the store as she had never ordered from us before, and if we could have them delivered locally to her daughter as she did not live in the state. She told me that she had been referred to us through the hotel her daughter was staying at. I said, of course, I’d be happy to do that for you, but you need to purchase at least a dozen and prepay for them over the phone. She agreed and then asked me if she could change the sprinkles on one of the food items. I said I would have to call my manager as it was a special order. She said okay, gave me her phone number, I checked with my manager and it was all good. I call her back and this is when shit hit the fan. She asks me about what boxes we have to keep the food in and I reply “Oh, we have boxes of 1,2,4,6, and 12. Any increment you’d like.” This woman takes my answer as though my previous answer of “You would need to purchase at least a dozen.” was me trying to scam her. I proceeded to spend about fifteen minutes on the phone with her before she said “listen here, I don’t trust you to give me the proper numbers and prices so give me your manager’s number.” I declined as we are not permitted to release that information. Oh boy... did this bitch have a meltdown. She began insulting my character personally over something that was out of my control. She demanded to know my name and when I offered it she replied by saying “oh, well I know you don’t want to bother with me so I don’t need it.” Im sorry, but what the fuck? She was shouting at me, demanding me to tell her my name and when I offered she declined and pretty much said she’d call my manager and get me fired. She then proceeds to yell that she’s calling the hotel back to tell them how horrendous I’m being to her so she can get the numbers of other businesses in the area who offer the same services. She hangs up and I’m fine for a half hour. Then I hear the phone ring, look at the caller ID and sure enough, it’s her again. I picked up the phone acting like I don’t know who’s calling and give the same happy go lucky answer just to piss her off. I hear her sigh, say her name, and go “Unfortunately no other businesses are willing to offer their services as I have waited too long to order the food items for my daughter.” I say I’m sorry to hear that. She scoffs and replies “I’m sure you are. I bet you were ready to get rid of me.” Honestly lady, you hit it right on the nose. I don’t want to deal with you, but I do my best to be polite to everyone no matter how rude they are to me. At this point two kind customers walk in and I cannot serve them. It is company policy to deal with whatever customer you are working with before others (this rule becomes null if a line starts in the store and you are working on a phone order. In this case, you take their number and call them back when the situation has been resolved). The woman proceeds to order, fight me every step of the way, calling me a scammer, a bitch, a liar, a thief, etc. There are moments when I can feel the tears coming. I knew it was going to happen. When the order was finished the woman hangs up after yelling one final slur my way. I turn off the phone, place it on the charger and begin to serve the two customers in front of me. About 8 minutes have passed since they walked in. I feel terrible, but I couldn’t do anything. One of them tries to make a joke as he heard most of what was going on. They’re both extremely kind saying some people are just assholes. I break down. I don’t have anywhere to go or anyone to cover me while I cry in the back. I spent thirty minutes being harassed by a woman in another state, being met with names, slurs, and just rude comments in general. I’m crying in front of customers as I serve them at the counter. Try as I may, I can’t stop the tears. They were so sympathetic towards me. God help me if it had been one of the rude customers I would get from time to time. I called my manager/family member after they left saying she was probably going to get an angry call about me the next day. She pretty much dismissed it as she knows personally and work wise that I always try and be as kind as possible towards people. My shift the next day rolls around. My coworker and I swap shifts and talk for like five minutes before she leaves. I ask her if our manager said anything about the woman to her. She replied “Oh yeah, what was that bitch’s problem? *My family member* told me that she was screaming at you.” I retold her the story and asked if the woman called that morning. “Oh, no. People like that don’t call back. They want you to think that you’re going to be chewed out when in reality they know that they’re in the wrong. Believe me, if she had called back, *Family member* would have had a few words to say on behalf of you. She was harassing an employee and demanding services we cannot offer. That’s not your responsibility.” That was the worst night working there I had ever had. I had terrible customers at that place before, but none have personally attacked me and called out my character. That’s what broke me.

Same thing happened to me at my job. Was trying to help a customer who wanted something we didn't sell and she just lost it on me. And I had to continue to help her look up this item on the computer as she continued to be mean to me. My manager found me later and I just started crying. I don't understand how some people can just yell at someone over the stupidest things.

I worked at a boat ramp this summer and also a restaurant/music venue in the mountains... The boat ramp made me lose faith in humanity.. The music venue was mostly cool, dead head kind of place but the people who also worked there were the ones making me cry lol. I'm too sensitive to work anywhere really.

I have PTSD, triggered by yelling. (My parents are trash and they abused me) I worked register in a craft store, I requested to not work register and work floor but I got register. I got maybe 30 min of training and all of that didn’t retain because of anxiety. So I was figuring it out day by day. I was on my third day of register when this old lady comes up, she was buying maybe three things and had her granddaughter with her. I ring her up and the register starts having errors ( this happens a lot) I couldn’t give her the exact change. I explain to her the problem and if she has some change I can exchange for her 5, the register at this point has locked and I can’t access it. I can complete her transaction if she gives me change and we have a drawer we put exchanges in that I was going to put the money in. She screams in my face that I’m stupid, I can’t do math and I don’t deserve this job. She tells me that I’m not going to last in retail and blah blah blah... her granddaughter stood up for me and said She couldn’t do this. She starts yelling at her granddaughter saying yes you can you are smart this girl isn’t smart. I lost it and don’t really remember much from there. I know my boyfriends mother had to come in the store and get me, she brought me to the hospital after. So thanks old lady I had to be hospitalized for 3 days after that bullshit.

I work in retail and anytime a customer is gets out of hand. I deny them service. I haven’t been fired yet for doing it. But If i try to help and they still don’t calm down. I tell them I don’t feel comfortable or safe serving them and direct them to another cashier or self check out. I’m not dealing with verbal abuse just because I’m a cashier. I refuse

One time when I was a cashier at a grocery store .. this store had a points type system so you have to type in their member number ... and I had this customer (who was an older man .. maybe in about his 70s) and I was polite and asked him his number and he mumbled it so I didn't understand him .. and when I asked him very politely to repeat it .. he literally yelled at me and called me deaf .. so I just typed in a random number and rang him through as fast as I could .. luckily my supervisor was near by and over heard it and made sure I was okay .. one of the worst experiences I've had working in retail

im not a very brave person when it comes to confronting a costumer. the other day a lady in drive through asked if we had rootbeer, and without giving me two seconds to answer she yelled “HELLO!!” in the headset. just about busted my eardrum. when she pulled up i gave her the nastiest look i could through the glass, but once i opened it i would snap back into costumer service mode lmao

So my sister and I were forced to go to a party with a stepmom that most likely hates us and the party was for a child that we did not know and it was at a bouncy-house-place-thing.
We were miserable and had headaches and literally just wanted to leave. Then we saw an employee working there who’s name was Tony. He seemed as freaking miserable as we were and I’m sure we would’ve spoken to him to pass time if we weren’t so awkward.
My sister and I still think about Tony and we hope that he found a better job

I'm studying to become a funeral director. If I'm anywhere and someone's having a hard time with kids, I'll ask the person "you want some help?" and if they say yes, I'll go to the kid and say "Hey. You know why you shouldn't do that?" Then tell them some lie about how someone died doing what they're doing and say "I worked on them. Wanna see?" then show them a picture of some horribly maimed corpse (that I Googled a few minutes ago). That should do it.

This makes me feel that I am not alone. Thank you. Words really indeed hurt more than a physical pain.
I was working late night last night and there were A Black American and his Filipina GF who ordered fries and chicken for a take out. They asked me to put a ketchup on it and I said yes. When the fries are already cooked, I noticed that there's no ketchup left. So I put mayo mustard (which is also a great sauce) instead of ketchup. I put our spicy tomato based sauce as an aternative also. The man opened it and sighed heavily, he shouted "THIS IS NOT A KETCHUP" as he points at the spicy tomato based sauce. I said, "that's a tomato sauce sir." then he shouted again, "SHE'S LYING TO US" and there were still customers, eating. And i feel belittled, they walked out and the man was pissed as hell.
I cant sleep the whole night because I feel so bad about it. I know that its my fault because i put a different sauce and didnt inform them. I feel bad.

I work in fast food and some of the most annoying common occurrences are
    1. complaining about prices, as if I can do anything about it, or being convinced that their total is wrong so I literally have to do math for them because they're convinced I'm the dumb one
    2. getting mad at me for asking them necessary questions, like what side and drink they want with their combo
    3. changing their order AFTER THEY PAY Not as bad if they're just adding something and can do a separate transaction, but people tell me they don't want things they've already paid for and force me to get both managers involved to issue them a refund.
    4. trying to use random coupons they found on google images that are 5 years old and not understanding why the coupon isn't in our system

I work in tech support, and like tech support for most companies, you have to do certain troubleshooting before you can replace a unit. So, I had one caller who absolutely refused to do any troubleshooting and demanded a replacement. Thing is, I'm not allowed to do that. So, I explained we needed to troubleshoot before we could do a warranty replacement. Customer calls me a bunch of nasty names, accused me of being lazy, and starts screaming at me to get him a replacement right now or else (and lists off a bunch of highly unlikely threats such as calling the CEO to personally have me fired). So, I explained again that to do what he wanted, we would have to troubleshoot. If he did not want to troubleshoot, I could always reach out to a senior technician who may be able to help him. Again, the guy screamed a bunch of personal insults and threats at me, refused to be transferred, and made his demand again. Well, at that point, since he was both abusive and refusing to be transferred, I moved on to the abusive caller script. At that point, the guy spewed a bunch of profanity and disconnected.
The funny (?) part was the guy's issue was really simple. He just had a setting wrong. If he had been willing to troubleshoot, I could have fixed his problem in under 2 minutes. Instead, he wasted 20 minutes screaming profanity and insults at me and hung up without resolving his issue.

during the summers I am a swim instructor and lifeguard at a high school pool, and there was this one student I had that was honestly, the worst. and I only had her for like 3 days as apposed to the normal 2 week/ 9 day session. though tbh it wasn't her fault so much as it was her family. the girl herself was super confident and talkative and could swim really well and I never had a problem with her not listening or messing around or anything. I knew the girl could swim pretty well, and I tend to ask the children their swim ability rather than the parents bc parents who pay someone to teach their child how to swim always overestimate their child's ability. she herself said she was comfortable enough to swim in the 7 ft (the deep end) and that she swims laps at her community pool so she's a relatively strong swimmer, all she wanted was to work on technique and strokes.
so we go through our first lesson without a hitch. its policy that if the student can swim across the pool (about 25 m) by themselves without stopping that it is up to the instructor whether or not to teach from inside the water, most like me tend do teach from outside bc being higher up we can see the swimmer better, and find the smaller things to fix. now my student was perfectly fine with me teaching from outside, her mom and grandma however were not. they even went so far as to lie and tell me, and my boss that she (the student) was anxious about swimming in the 7 ft. (she was not and I even asked her about it and she said she was perfectly fine and didn't know why they would say that bc she swims in deeper water all the time).
after that I had to get in with her, to please the mom. however, then mom confronted me on why we were working so much on strokes and not really doing laps with them???? like did she expect me to do laps as well??
that same day apparently the mom wanted to change lesson times for whatever reason. now I had a non-swimming child right after her daughter, so as I am holding the baby, working on getting them to kick and blow bubbles at the same time, this mom walks up to me and literally asks me if I have a class right after her daughter. like the baby in my arms that I ma holding in the water isn't enough of an answer. I flat out told her "um, yeah, as you can see I'm holding him." and this bihh hd the audacity to say "ohhhh, so he'll be here for the rest of the week?"
oh, did I also mention she signed up for lessons on the literal last week of them and then expected to be able to get extra accommodations bc she over scheduled her child?
this was long but it still pisses me off to this day, and I was sure relieved that they didn't come back for the rest of their lessons.
