Great video, but you did do a small mistake. the wind direction is supposed to be where it comes from not where it goes, so you entered the opposite clock number for that. the reason the shots still hit is the atragmx told you to adjust right and you instinctively adjusted left. just wanted to point that out...
You're wrong. The atragmx says R, as in you have to adjust for the wind going R and move the scale LEFT. I've tried it in the virtual arsenal. Adjusting POSITIVELY for the RIGHT is way off. Adjusting NEGATIVELY for the RIGHT is correct.
No wind direction is input wrong in the video. At 4:10 after he puts in the wind value in the Atrag as 4 oclock (wrong) it shows a POSITIVE windage correction needs to be made. However he actually sets the scope with a NEGATIVE (correct) windage. If he had set the wind in the Atrag correctly to 10 oclock (not 4) the windage would have calculated the NEGATIVE value that he actually used and been correct.
Two things you need to remember. 1: the wind arrow points in the direction the wind is GOING not coming from and the Atrag is OPPOSITE it wants to know where the wind is COMING from not going (I know, annoying)
2: For scope windage adjustnemt
- NEGATIVE clicks move the crosshair left of target (ie compensating for wind from the left)
+POSITIVE clicks move the crosshair right of target (ie compensating for wind from the right.
Great video and I've got a little suggestion to improve its accuracy. The reason your having to flip the wind value the Atrag calculates from + to - when you set the scope is because your setting the wind backwards in the Atrag. Wind direction should be 10 (not 4). This will make the Atrag calculate the correct value and you won't have to flip it when setting the scope. Hope that makes sense

Two Errors:
1. When you input wind speed, in the box labeled "1" is the "low" wind speed and "2" is the "high" wind speed, which means the minimum and maximum of the wind speed if it fluctuates
2. The "Update" button is not needed, as the values in the "abs" column is already the correct value.
When you click "update", the value in abs would be put into "Cur", meaning current scope setting, which is just to save your scope setting after you have taken the shot. When you move on to a new target and calculate the adjustment needed, the "Rel"(relative) column would display the amount of adjustment needed from you "Current scope setting" to get to the "Absolute scope setting". This feature is needed only for real life, when there isn't an indicator showing your current scope setting, and you can just follow the "rel" column and turn the knob accordingly.
Doing something that is not needed is not exactly an error.
I have a suggestion for you. Ive been playing a custom scenario called Clandestine Sunrise. Its an old one but supposed to be one of the best out there. It has Zeus so you can customize it further to make a nice story out of it. Might result in a cool video

Hey mate great video however, I am still a bit confused with all the wind settings? Which wind readings do I need to measure and input into the atrag to ensure an accurate shot?
How would you adjust for wind on the fly with the range card? I play with a milsim unit and I play as a Designated Marksman. Our rules make it where only actual snipers have an Atrag, and I hear they don't even work anymore. So all I have is a Kestral, vector 21, and a range card. The range card has stuff for wind, but only if it is 4 mps. so lets say I had a target at 600m with a wind blowing east to west at .8 m/s. and for a 4 m/s wind it says adjust 1.2. How would I adjust roughly?

But I wonder what do you do when the target is on a different elevation and angle from you, because that matters a lot. If youre shooting at a target at 800m on an airfield and another target on the same distance but on a hill, your bullet will hit ether below or above it, simply because the elevation difference and the way a bullets trajectory curves.
How do you make adjustments in the hundredths area? (example: 11.55, the last 5) I can only adjust the tenths place. (the 1st 5)

I have a problem with THE menu sometime THE circkle stays and i cant schoot anymore
When i press tab+r the vector only gives me the azimuth, i can't seem to get it to give me range. (yes I connected it to the DAGR, and yes the keybinds for the vector angle and range are tab and r respectively)

Hi fairTX, this map looks fantastic, infinitely better to the standard zargabad. I'm looking for maps to make some missions on for a LAN party I'm organising, and this map you played on is perfectly. Apparently it's a map/scenario you were working on a while back? I don't know if you've ever finished it, if you have I haven't been able to find it yet, if you haven't you can know that you have someone who'd eagerly play on such a map, finished or unfinished, it looks great as it is, some great additions I noticed.
I am glad your doing all that as a sniper... by the time you get done, I have moved on to the next town.
Chris Waldrop well this kind of sniping is for enemy’s not prepared. If they are in combat they will move around before you get a shot. There is also a stra where you write down the scope alignments in real life so when an Enemy takes cover there you just change scope alignment.

What's the button to open the scope adjustment menu? (the one with the 2 knob)
Hi. 2022 now happy new year. i folloed your step identical. after an hour of testing. if I take your date I need to subtract one click from distance and for side if on the calculator it says 0.20L i need to put 0.10R (half of the calculator and instead of L, R to be bulleye (target 300m up to 1100m same thing........... what i do wrong????
EDIT: ok after reading the comments, I modify the wind to where is come from, that set. but distance have tendency to be always I tiny bit to high

In the Atrag, you have an option in the target tap to adjust latitude and inclination angle. I was wondering what those were used for, when/if I would use them, and how I would find the calculation?
Latitude is real world latitude to counteract the coriolis effect, aka, the spin of the earth. Each map had a real world counterpart, thus use this link for all of the latitudes. github.com/acemod/ACE3/blob/master/addons/common/functions/fnc_getMapData.sqf
Being I am still learning marksmanship for my ARMA unit I can't answer the inclination angle specifically, I would assume it has to do with shooting up and down hills. But I don't know sorry.

Thanks for the tutorial! What I noticed is that even when I select the correct ammo, for instance 7.62x51 mk.118 of M993 it still on some guns doesn't get the correct elevation. You have any idea why this could be. Some ammo like 50bmg hit exactly where they should.
probably because the custom ammunition in mods doesn't always perform all that well, that's a very picky topic, i tend to test it and then use what performs best
5:22 coriolis effect is not exist? You are shooting without horizontal correction at 600m?

My biggest problem with ace is the moving. Like if my target moves away I can't shoot them anymore because I'll have to re calibrate. Is that as big a problem or no?
it all depends on the wind, if it's blowing over 2m/s, you will have to adjust. otherwise, the target probably wont move too far so you should be fine

@2:32 isn't the wind direction coming from 12 not 6? Not that it matters as the wind value is 0%

Use the range card. It auto configures for your rifle/scope combo. I just found this out and it has helped me tremendously.
It doesn't seem like the atrag even works anymore? There's a lot of things just straight up missing on it.
You can in todays version of RHS configure that you rebolt manualy

So... My DAGR Wont update the Atrag after i use the vector to detect the range. I also have a different setup on my atrag. The bottom section is different... Any idea why?

I'm doing all of these stages with the m24 with the same caliber as in the video and tried with most of the rifle scopes but the bullet hits like a "mile" away anyway, it cal land at the bottom of my scope to the second mils from the center, wtf am I doing wrong?
Hm, gotta make sure to test how different guns work with ACE3. Because guns from some mods do not perform all that well with ACE sniping equipment. Sorry for the late comment
The scope adjustments you make are not equal to meters. If you sniped in Arma 3 vanilla just forget everything you know because the ACE mod is as realistic as it gets. The scope adjustments (either elevation or wind) are MOA adjustments. Those numbers do not equal to meters. So thats why you need to know the rifle, scope and bullet youre using. The scopes in ACE3 are for some weird reason 1/10 MOA adjustments scopes. So for every 0.1 click you are making a 0.10 MOA.. 10 "mini clicks" are 1 MOA. In real life scopes usually are 1/4 and 1/8 MOA Adjustments.. A very important thing to know is the reticle youre using (MRAD or Mildot) as the measurements for shooting slightly vary. The best thing you can do is learn the basics withouth any of that fancy equipment. From 1 to 300 meters its going to be easy to shoot. Beyond that is where it gets more difficult. Grab a range card and understand your ballistics.. See how much your round drops at certain ranges and adjust for windage by shooting and shooting over and over till you have a basic feeling of where the bullet will land. Then proceed to use the Kestrel, Atrax and Dagr.
So in a nutshell.. If you want to snipe somebody with a M24 shooting 7.62x51 M118L at 350 meters away you DONT adjust your elevation to 3.5 moa.. You check your bullet chart and try to remember values for basic ranges from 100 meters to 500 meters. In this case asuming you have windage coming towards you, just adjust to 1.7 - 1.8 (value for 350 meters drop) and aim for where you want your bullet to hit. Done.
basically, sniping in ace 3 is a fucking pain in the asssss
@@jordanssfor Sniping in ACE takes some time to set up right which is what I like. It feels realistic, and I usually play the middle ground between all-out sniper and basic rifleman by being a Marksman. I found that I managed to score most hits with my G3A3 (my go-to marksman weapon) by memorizing range values from my range card and adjusting windage accordingly to how off center I hit. The unit I Play with doesnt provide marksmen with the fancy sniper stuff which sometimes sucks but often times makes The experience more enjoyable.

Hi . Im trying to turn off the movement on the optical crosshairs after i run a few meters. I dont know where to find this. I have stamina turned off in the MP lobby parameters and fatigue is also disabled in the configuration addons ACE Advancet Fatigue . You know how to change it

Hey for some reason I can't keep my scope still after taking a shot so I can see where the bullet goes, it reloads once shot has been fired
And for some reason the kestrel and the atragmx doesn't show up at all
My key bindings that I set to the equipment are clear
Keep holding left mouse button after the shot (dont just click). As for kestrel and atrag, drop them from the inventory and pick them up again.

When i try to zero the scope it does not allow me to use the wind adjustments too, it uses the default arma zeroing...any suggestions?
yep, not all scopes are compatible with ACE3. for some mods there are also compatibility patches on the workshop
No no no it is not set any buttons for the wind adjustments. You must set it in the settings
How do I open both of the equipments, if I open another one it makes the other one disappear.
if you hover over the thing to configure it, wait for a while and you will see another option for show, this will place it on your screen but you can't interact with it while it's ont he screen that way.

@ Yeah it is important but I only know one way of finding out, I think it was in the video as well. You need to connect your vector 21 rangefinder to the computer thingy that gives you your solution, then use the rangefinder to designate the target (tab+t I think) and it should automatically give you the elevation. Alternatively some basic geometry and a map should allow you to deduct the elevation from the difference in measured range from your range finder and distance on the map. And I guess you can also just read elevation on the map and make an estimate based on that.

well you need to check your keybinding for 'open kestrel' (i think that's how its called) and not 'show kestrel', because the latter only brings it up for a quick check.

I accidentally deleted a file from the GunList. Any quick tips to restore it?
You can reset the AtragMX to default by typing the following command into the debug screen:
call ace_atragmx_fnc_clear_user_data
This will restore all the default guns of the Atrag, but it will also wipe out any custom gun that you may have set.

You need to use a scope compatible with Ace. All of the RHS ones I've tried are compatible.

fairTX props, AI, player items. I can't seem to edit what my player would have so I just end up playing as one of the npc snipers and I can't edit the items they have as well.
What can I do if the ammunition I'm using ( .50 BMG M33 ) isn't on the list ?
try to experiment with different ammo types, like 12.7x99 because that's .50cal. your other option is to test the range and knobs manually and them write them down for yourself
I could also teach you to do it by hand, the only fashioned way with paper, pencil and a range card xD.
@@Skyried I'm down to learn that way. don't mind this way (also the best for my spotter) but If I can eliminate some key binds (so im not sitting up on accident or ffs throwing a grenade lol) thatd be a plus.. last thing I wanna do is get my guys killed or need them to set up a rescue team to pull me out.. our milsim units been doing great lately so if I can add an element with your help better understanding how to do these adjustments via pen n paper id greatly appreciate the help and ur time .

Where's the ACE3-RHS Compatibility patch? Why was it removed?
No idea, but it's not the first time. As the mods are progressing with updates, a lot of compatibility patches stop working. It will probably be back soon.
