It’s amazing how that powerhorse is a reverse engineered clone of the Honda. Every detail. Your side by side comparison is fantastic!
Does the powerhorse charge the battery when running? When you cycled through the control panel when it was running on ECO, voltage was a low 12.1V. It would be up around 13.5-14V if charging. Maybe it needs a higher rpm like standard mode?
The Duromax with dual fuel, at its price point, might still beat out the powerhorse.
I keep saying it - there seems to be new inverter gens every few weeks, and Gavin, you somehow manage to get them and give great reviews! Thank you

Thank you so much for this Gavin. I had a Honda7000 and it stopped working after just 1100 hours. So disappointed. They seem to not be able to handle heat but no error code flashing and Honda can't figure it out. I've read other folks having same issue. I use it for my small business so I need the lower decibels. I've decided to give the Powerhorse a try after my disappointment with Honda, some investigating, and your video. I wish I would have seen this 2 years ago! Let me know if you know anything about the Honda 7000 issue, please. So much appreciated. I hope your day is going as well as mine after seeing your video. Thank you for your help...truly

I live full time in a 2014 Keystone Sprinter 299ret (50 amp service) in a senior mobile home park. I own two gens for back up power: 1) A 2021 Honda EU3000is for lights, TV, internet and refrigerator and running at night during an outage. 2) A 2023 Yamaha EF4500ise, it will run the 15k btu RV a/c during a summer outage. The Yamaha will run the a/c, microwave and water heater in electric mode simultaneously. My plan was to sell both gens and get a new 2024 EU7000is. After reading your comment, I think I will just leave things as they are and avoid the Big Honda 7000. The reason I was considering a larger gen, I am in the market for a 2020 or newer Riverstone 39rkfb fifth wheel, it has three 15k a/c's. Thanks for posting. Cheers!

Just like the Honda, there is a small screw on the bottom of the carb to drain the float bowl making is simple to put away for storage. What is important is to always use Stabil in all gas that is stored for any length of time. In my boat I routinely fill it with premium gas, add Stabil and a bit of methyl hydrate to absorb water and it starts instantly even after a years storage. One cannot blame the equipment that won't start if you don't store things properly

Hi, Gavin, excellent video as always. In the beginning you said 6.6 gallon tank can run 16 hours at 25% load. By that we would use 1.5X that gallonage to run 24 hours. That is on a small load. That is 9,9 gallons, may as well say 10 gallons a day. If gas is $4/gallon it costs $40 a day to run. In a month of use one would spend $1200 in fuel at 25% load. In 1 or 2 months that gas use would buy a solar panel or two, an inverter'charger and a couple of lithium batteries I would think. The math on generator use seems like it is time to get a solar system doesn't it? Please give us your thoughts. Thanks, Gavin.

    • @GeneratorReviews
      @GeneratorReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

The math is true at today’s prices but we all know why gas prices are so high right now. I have used Solar, Wind and Solar battery Generator.
I’ll tell you there is no substitute for a gas Generator when it comes to running the whole house at night for several day especially during a power outage or hurricane.
The best option is to use all the resources together to get your power, no one power source is 100%.
I also think the maximum you’re gonna run off a backup generator maybe five days tops.

So I’m curious which one do you like better because I know you have the Honda fuel injected versus power horse, which is carburetor I’m going to assume that the fuel injected is more efficient but which ones more quieter I do love that it has the 50 amp circuit for your RV already prepped that’s awesome and a huge plus

What about the GEN Max? It looks like a really good generator for the money. Is that also one that you don’t need to generate is to use the 50 amp socket to power your RV again there’s no way the RV is using that much power but multiple people have said that they had issues after the first time running it, but we also know not everybody’s mechanically inclined and there’s always something that could be done different to make it work better or should’ve been done from the get-go?

Good day my friend. I just got me one of these Powerhorse 7500i to run the entire house to replace my older 5.5kv generator. I do have a transfer switch to connect the generator and isolate the commercial power side during an outage. Have been using it with my older Briggs and Straton 5.5 kv generator (noisy thing), for years running the entire house (less any air conditioners) without problems, connected from the generator's only 240v output which is 30A. This older generator was our life saver for over 4 months after Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico (where I live) back in 2017. With this new 7500i unit, my question is, should I continue to use the 240v/30A or, can I use the 50A to hook up the house? I'll be running the lights (all LED), the fridge, a small freezer, one LED TV and cable box, occasionally the microwave oven, once a day for about 1/2 hour the water heater, a coffee maker, (we have a gas range), the electric garage door opener, a laptop computer and the associated internet modem, and one 18,000 BTU mini-split inverter A/C . Will this generator be able to run this load out of the 30A and/or the 50A outlet?? Your advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. All the best and thanks, much obliged !!!

  • @eosjoe565

I'm not sure the compactness is an advantage for the Honda. If you've ever tried working on the Honda it is no picnic as everything is so tight. Even getting to the spark plug is near impossible with a standard wrench. I had to make a special tool by cutting off a motorcycle spark plug wrench. The problem is the case and frame rail block straight access. The PowerHorse has much more room around the internal components. Granted, getting to that fuel filter is going to be a bit tricky. Maintenance difficultly is one of those trade offs when you compare one of these quiet generators to an open frame unit.

@chrism8013 people like you are what's wrong with the world. You see things so black and white. I use my battery as an energy storage device to run 2 rv trailers off grid. There are days that there isn't sun and need a backup. So shut your mouth.

The Honda has more of a throttle body fuel injection (no needle, bowl or shutoff solenoid) whereas the PowerHorse has a true carburetor with needle, bowl and shutoff solenoid.

One HUGE negative, not Dual Fuel.

If PowerHorse 7500i are reliable??? they will strip away Honda sales. The front panel setup is certainly better then the honda, and a super quiet genset.
