- Another day, another fossil hunt!
Join me as I search the beaches along Calvert Cliffs in search of shark teeth and other fossils. My best find of the day was a tooth from the extinct mako species Isurus retroflexus, which is a relatively rare species to find! Remember to like, comment, and subscribe! More videos on the way.

Great retrofelxus! I got a small Meg and Chub the last couple trips and some great hemis but it’s been a little since I’ve got lien a tooth over 2 inches

We have watched several of your videos and plan to take the kids to Calvert Cliffs. We noticed, however, that you tend to enter directly at the cliffs and other videos featuring folks entering from the main entrance often mention that access to the cliffs is forbidden. Can you share how/where you usually approach the cliffs?
I either come in by boat or walk in at points where I know the property owner. All legal, of course! Hope you and the kids can make it out there and find some fossils! ~HH

I found a mako tooth not too far from calvert cliffs when I was like 10, thought it was a megalodon tooth because I figured any slightly bigger than average shark tooth came from a megalodon. Mom took it to the local marine museum to get identified and it turned out to be from a mako shark, can't remember how old they said it was though

How can you tell when conditions are right?
Great question! The best time to go is at low tide when the water is low and more beach is exposed to search. You can Google tide charts and water levels for the area. Lots of other factors play a part (wind, recent storms, etc.), but you'll get a feel for the best times to go the more you do it! Hope this helps! ~HH
You don't ever scuba dive to find fossils ?
Not yet! Need to get my SCUBA cert. I have several friends/fellow fossil hunters who are divers, though! They find some amazing stuff ~HH

Not worthless at all! Every fossil shark tooth is a treasure! Regardless of the size and condition of the tooth, it's still a tooth that fell out of the mouth of a shark millions of years ago, sank to the bottom of the sea, and ended up in your hand after an unfathomable amount of time! I think that's pretty cool ;) ~HH
