I love the case you keep your embroidery floss in. I’m actually a beader but I’m going to give embroidery a try since I have extra time on my hands quite often. I love the beading organizer case for embroidery floss as well. It works perfect for your floss. Good eye! I love this idea for storing my floss. I have t0 skeins of floss, all different colors of course, and plastic bobbins that I’ll be putting them on and I’m neat freak when it comes to storing a lot of stuff. Thank you for posting this video! You’ve given me an excellent idea on storing my embroidery floss!
Hello! I am so glad that you liked the video and found it helpful! You should definitely try cross stitch and embroidery, they are time consuming but the results are beautiful and it's very relaxing. I am also a neat freak so organization is very important, especially whan I am crafting. :)
I'm sorry to hear of your mom's passing! Be well! I lost my mom 6 years ago. It does get better but I miss her every day. Happy stitching! So glad you found a hobby you enjoy!
Awesome video!! I just got into cross stitching so I know I'll probably go on a shopping spree soon and these organizing tips will help a lot! Also ur really funny and I LOVE ur tattoos ❤
I also have all the DMC threads, but as my plastic bobbins decided to literally fall apart after I had a break of several years, and when I went to start stitching again after my husband passed away in March 2017, and I started stitching again, went to use my threads, and discovered that the plastic bobbins just fell apart when I used them. Stick with cardboard - much cheaper, especially if you have to replace them. I've been using them for over 30 years now, and there have been very few I've had to replace. I also always keep a back-up for all my threads, as you do.
wow! I have never heard of the plastic bobbins falling apart like that! Craziness! Thanks for letting me know, I will have to keep an eye on them! And yes, having at least one backup of every DMC color at all times has helped me get through so many projects that I would have otherwise had to have put on hold to go to the store and buy another skein of floss!
I'd love to see more of your Mum's laptop with your work on it Hun. I have subscribed to your channel, so I look forward greatly to learning more of using my PC to help with my patterns. Enjoying your videos Sug. Lorna x x x
Haha I am a huge hoarder myself. This is just my DMC stash. I have a ton of others from Anchor, Loops & Threads, JP Coates, and a lot of no name. I buy random bags from thrift shops.
hahahaha If there's anything I really hoard, it's crafting supplies because I am very artsy. I always worry if I have too much, but I always end up using most of it! (I am also a self proclaimed hoarder. lol)
Hi there, I'm just getting into this new craft and found your vlog. Your organization is impressive and I plan on copying it. I think a man was behind the numbering of the floss, because no woman would have done that... haha.
hahaha It's soooo true. It seriously sets my OCD off. lol And i am glad you liked my video! I really hope my organization method works for you! If you have any questions please feel free to ask!
There is a handy box for bobbins called a nail polish holder. It has just the right sized compartment for bobbinized floss, 24 slots on each side. Costa about 20$. On Amazon. There are several companies that make it, search for the cheapest.
I am sorry to hear of your Mothers passing, my Mum died three years ago and I still miss her every day. She was an amazing artist , a skill I didn't inherit so I stitch to make art. It's nice you have her laptop , every time you use it you will no doubt think of her. 😪
This was a great video, I did watch/listen to the entire thing, and I was nodding my head at your organizational skills. So very sorry about your Mom :( Hope you do more videos of you stitching adventures, these are quite informative--and yes, those damn DMC stickers tick me off with their incredible unsticking nonsense. I WISH they worked better. DMC should make a set of bobbins with the numbers embossed on them.
Hi there! Thank you for watching and I am really glad that you liked the video. :) I love your idea for bobbins with the floss codes embossed on them. That would be amazing! I am hoping to eventually post more videos, but for the time being things have been a bit hectic and my health has been very poor. I promise I'll try though!
@@sebsgrrl0 I saw someone, a flosstuber, put tape over the sticker to secure it in place. I personally use a Sharpie to label the bobbins. I use both plastic and card stock bobbins to store the floss. I did purchase the dmc stickers but have yet to use them.
Hello! The app is literally called TT117. The icon is a picture of a cross stitched chess horse with the TT117 stitched over it in red floss. I believe it’s called Thread Tracker 117 in the App Store now.
hi there! The app I mention has a strange name, it's labeled under "TT117." The icon is white with a black stitched horse head and some red stitched Chinese characters. I hope this helps!
Have you heard of flosstube? Just put Flosstube #1 before your videos and you will join the over 1000 stitchers who post videos often. Check out Flosstube eclecticpossesions, Stitcherista and Carolyn Mazzeo to start and you'll see a lot of stitchers commenting on their videos. The reason dmc colour numbers are all over the place is because they didn't have them all to start, every few years they come out with a bunch of new shades. They recently released about 20 or so new ones and awhile ago they came out with some new verigated ones. At Michaels, in the storage area they have a double sided floss storage box with a handle that holds nearly a whole set of dmc, with a coupon they are a really good price. I will warn that if you start watching Flosstube it's easy to be enabled to buy Many new things, hand and overdyed floss and silks and fabrics, patterns you've never seen before. Ask me how I know. Lol. I don't make videos, I just don't have enough time to stitch much so don't have enough content to make them. I am on Instagram though , with this name, as are thousands of other stitchers of every type. I stitch on aida and evenweave and have been having fun dyeing some fabrics and flosses. It just adds a little pride to stitch on fabric I dyed with floss I've dyed as well. Hope to see you on Flosstube and Instagram.
Personally I like the XStitch app and there is also a new app out called Stitchingly, they have a group page on FaceBook, I haven’t delved into that one yet.
Hi there! Oddly enough it's under the name "TT117." It's strange I know. The picture icon for it is white with what looks like a cross stitched horse head and some red Chinese writing on it. I hope you find it okay!

Love your video. Please make more. I would like to see how you wind your bobbins and anything cross stitch that you do. Sorry to hear about your mom.
Thank you very much. And I will absolutely make a bobbin winding video as well as a few other tutorials!

Holie Molie Cannoli! Thats a lot of thread girl. As a self professed hoarder I dont feel so bad now. Tanks! :o)

I use the smaller bobbin container for the floss im using for a project. I works better than going through the bigger ones.
excellent idea. I also have a smaller container that holds a few supplies and whatever my current floss pallet is for my latest project!

I'm sorry for your loss too. It's a very difficult thing.
Thanks so much for your comment, and I am sorry about your mom too. It doesn't matter how much time passes, it never gets any easier. :(
What was the name of the app you mentioned at the end of the video?
This was a great video, I did watch/listen to the entire thing, and I was nodding my head at your organizational skills. So very sorry about your Mom :(

for writting on DMC card, we need a permanent marker resisting water and plastic. I don't know if I will find that.
OCD girl OCD LOL I do the same thing. I'm also OCD. You made me laugh when you said you store one more of the colors. Reminded me of me!
I absolutely hoard floss!! Lol I never want to run out of a colour then have to make a trip to the store. Especially during a pandemic!
Can you link it Blow the stuff that you're doing so I can find it I'm not computer savvy I'm still learning
its the bead landing, bead storage box with handle 14.8 in by 12,2 by 2,3 in at Micheals for 22.99
How many DMC threads are there??
Would love to know the name of the app which one can use to keep track of their floss.
I would love to know the name of the app you are talking about that tracks your threads...
So sorry for your loss of your Mom
Hi. I just found your TH-cam channel and you mentioned an app for keeping track of floss. Do you know the name of this app?
Hello! The app is literally called TT117. The icon is a picture of a cross stitched chess horse with the TT117 stitched over it in red floss. I believe it’s called Thread Tracker 117 in the App Store now.
thread goalssssss
Condolences for your loss.
I appreciate that. Thank you very much.
What's the name of the app that keeps track of thread?

Great ideas! One caveat, the colors online are not exact and the print is even less so!
I agree with you, sometimes the colors are not precise, but if you have a good eye there are ways around it!

I have heard of Flosstube, yes! I have yet to check it out though.
wish she woulda put a link or at least more info on the "storage box". Have no car tobget to Michaels so would have to be ordering online
Nancy Dubin, search for Bead Landing trade mark, bead storage box in the props and storage bead section on michaels website
I would have put a link if I had one! But there's no info on the boxes after you take the plastic wrap off of them.
I got 56 bobbins for 1 dollar at Walmart!
Canadian walmarts don't really have a good crafting section anymore. It's a shame. :(
Hello!!! What is the name of that app? Sounds really helpful.
hello! The app is called StitchSketch!
Personally I like the XStitch app and there is also a new app out called Stitchingly, they have a group page on FaceBook, I haven’t delved into that one yet.
+Emma Swartz the xstitch app is amazing for inventory and everything. I love it.
