Loved your video. I’m in Chicago and we are dealing with the weather. 70 one day. 30 the next. 🤦🏽♀️. You are a hit. Not a miss. Your personality is charismatic.
Austin, you may stitch Victorian charmers but ohhhhh LAWDY son YOU are the true charmer! I happened upon your videos today and I’m smitten! I started cross stitching in 1978 after moving to Layfayette, Louisiana…I was elated to hear that Looosiana accent again! I so enjoyed your walk down cross stitching memory lane. It’s amazing how this hobby has evolved over the years. Back in the beginning I stitched on 26 count Aida. But when I discovered linen I felt like I hit the jack pot and I haven’t gone back to Aida…soooo there may come a day when you, too, will give linen a try. Like you, I also stitch on the same piece for days at a time. Monogamous stitching works best for me as well. You're not the only one who gets gobsmacked at the number of WIPS so many stitchers amass. I couldn’t take that pressure! I like your floss file system, especially the notion of the small bag for bits and bobs that are too much to toss in the trash bin. I recently converted all my cotton flosses over to Annie’s Keepers. That system is the best I’ve tried, and I’ve tried quite a number of systems. I can’t wait to see what your next video brings…keep them comin’ darlin!
Another entertaining video. It's made smile, grin and laugh. Your floss storage is a great idea. I for one am glad you found the record button. Happy stitching. X
I'm with you on the Easy Bake Oven temperature. I can totally wait for that temperature. No rush! I hate the bugs, sweat, etc. I use paper apps, so I don't click and clack other than all day at work. That's plenty! The Victorian house is spectacular! Houses are great to stitch; I agree! The majority of patterns that appeal to me have a house.
Hi Austin, your Victorian Charmer is looking beautiful! I’m born and raised in the New Orleans area. Been on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain for over 40 years. I also love stitching houses. I have the Victorians across America, La Grande Maison, Broussard, Louisiana chart that I’ve been wanting to start. So happy to see a Louisiana flosstuber. I knew you were from Louisiana before you said it on your first video. Happy stitching!
I am enjoying your videos and seeing your enthusiasm for stitching. Thanks for sharing your floss storage. It looks like it works well. I look forward to seeing you work on your current Victorian house and the Victorian Houses you plan on starting. Happy Stitching!
Hi Austin. Your stitching is lovely. I love Victorian houses. Your Victorian Charmer is looking fantastic. I love your channel. You're a breath of fresh air! I hope you have an absolutely fantastic week and get lots of stitching done!
Hi Austin. Parking method would have me totally confused. No thank you Ma' am No Thank you sir.too many strings hanging I would have a tangled mess.LOL Thanks for sharing your floss library. Hope you found something good to eat. Happy stitching
Austin, you are making me work on my laugh lines around my eyes! You make me smile throughout your video. I really like your organization system. My problem is that I take my thread out of my bags then I’m not good about putting them back in there once I’m done with my project. Next thing I know I got a big thread drop jumble. Great video. You keep me engaged from start to finish. Thanks for making me smile!
Your videos are really enjoyable. I love listening to your accent. My ex-husband used to cross stitch Victorian houses back in the 90s. Your Victorian charmer pattern is a pretty one.
This is third video I’ve watched of you. I love the way you talk, you’re very articulate and love that accent. I remember all those 70’s and 80’s patterns. I started cross stitching together with embroidery, crochet and knitting, a long long time ago. There was only DMC and Aida and only DMC charts. Keep it going. Take care and be safe, Austin!
Austin just found your channel….love it. I am a 99% 14 count aida…with a few 16. I use DMC and use the loop method to start as it is always 2 over one. But most of all I still use bobbins and store in plastic. Have a few small plastic containers to hold floss for projects I am working on. I am buying 5 or so a week of dmc…..someday will have a full set. You have a great week and stay safe.
I tried parking and didn't like the threads hanging, it was messy. My storage is bobbins in the boxes by number. Been doing it that way for 40+ years. Love your videos
Hello Friend, your Victorian Charmer is beautiful. I do something similar for my floss storage, using snack size Ziploc bags with an index card in each showing floss number. I don’t bobbinate anymore-life’s to short for all that. I haven’t tried parking, so no thoughts on it. You’re doing great! Thanks Austin for all you do.
I have worked at JoAnn Fabrics for 25 years and I just retired at 65 and I store all my floss in the plastic bins like you use to do and to this day I still have that system. I store my floss on how the store stores there's. I also have a extra bin for my duplicate flosses. It is hard for a old lady like myself to change her ways but I really love your new way with the new bin and the plastic bags. That is exciting about the exchange. I do not throw anything away either so I have 50 years of books & charts. I try to give them away but no one wants them in my area. I can not wait until you decide on how you will do this so I can share my things with you. Happy Stitching.
Hi, Austin! Your videos and your genuine personality bring me so much joy…thank you for “keepin’ it real”! 😂 ♥️ I appreciated seeing your method of floss storage, and hearing about your future plans. Thank you for taking the time to share all this goodness with us. Love seeing a fellow Louisiana stitcher! 🎉 God bless! Meline
I just found you and I subscribed right away as I have to see how your Victorian houses come along. My floss is stored in little small plastic storage bags as well, but mine are standing straight up. I bought them many years ago. They are like the Floss Away bags but slightly smaller. One day I stopped at a yard sale, just out of curiosity and I found this photographers wooden box. Of course trying to keep the plastic bags upright and in order was impossible. Then one day my husband had this great idea to put pieces of hard plastic in it and he cut slits in the plastic so you could interlock them and have little compartments. I keep my floss stored in it by number. I also have a DMC floss card with all the samples of the colors. It’s getting very old so will need to upgrade it some time soon. I have been stitching for 55+ years. Mostly do things seems like for other people as gifts. Going to start one just for me after I’m done with the project I’m doing now. Not much more to go. Probably finish it in the next month or so.
I just found you and I love stitching houses too! Check out the "I'll Be Home Series" from Twin Peak Primitives. 12 big beautiful houses! Just FYI, I do park my threads sometimes. Yes, the back can get very bulky if you have a lot of colors. Many times, people who park will only carry the thread a short distance. If it is too long, you would end the thread and start over in a new spot. Doing that helps it not be as bulky. You are a delight!
Love you floss storage! I also love how you want to help new people learn the craft that we all love. Could you show how you ‘kit up’ a project? Just curious how you transition from the clear bags to whenever the floss is in use. Thank you.
hi, austin! such fun watching your new flosstube-- it's like a breath of fresh air. i appreciate your time and efforts. IF you ever need content... as a relatively new, returning to cross stitch stitcher, i'd enjoy hearing your thoughts on different types of fabric, such as aida vs lugana vs linen. 14 count aida here, but would like to try others. any suggestions?
That’s a good question! So for me I love Adia and once I went to a higher count Adia i fell in love especially with the dyed Adia! Now the difference I find with Adia vs Lugana and other even weaves is the feel of the fabric. I find more people that lean to lugana and others is because even weaves tend to be more soft than Adia. Texture never bothered me, nowwwwww linen that’s a deceiving fabric!!!!! 😅 it’s so pretty to look at and have stitches on it but you have to train your eyes to look at the welps in the fabric. It does not make a perfect square. The upcoming video will be the start into the Victorian mansions and the following video will be on this topic, Stay on the look out!! Until then Happy Stitching - Austin
oh!! that's interesting and helful. maybe with my old eyes i'll stick to aida and maybe lugana for now. thank you so much for taking time to respond! @@kitchenofstitching
Hi, Austin! I love your energy and upbeat mood. I had a question regarding the margin you leave on your projects so you can finish them. In past videos, I noticed you leave just a little bit of a margin and that caused me anxiety 😂😂😂 keep up the good work!!
I used to have the same anxiety! So what I do now is every project I do I always measure to have at least 2 inches of fabric extra all around because I also worry it getting dirty especially on Aida 😂 ❤
Hi Austin I'm enjoying your videos i like your floss storage. Where did you get those thin zip loc bags..i think you said they are 8" long? Where do you find those?
You’re funny, and I am enjoying you and your videos. I’m still trying to figure you out. Are you a monogamous stitcher…..or a ton of WIPS? I hope you are a one or two at a time stitcher. I kind of go “batty” w/ those WIP parades that are like 50+projects. I lose interest real fast! So I’ll keep hanging on to you for awhile because you make me laugh, and your stitching on the lovely Victorian house seems b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l! I’m 73 years old and have spent my whole life embroidering and cross stitching. I know what you say about the stores not selling kits too much anymore.😢😢😢It’s a crying shame! Onward to episode #4. Best wishes!

Just keep it up. So enjoying you
