The entire audience sighed with disappointment. How great would that have been?
Mr. Show made it so I cannot take anything David Cross says seriously. Just the sound of his voice. Even when he’s being completely sincere, I’m waiting for him to pull back the sleeves of his coat and reveal tiny, burnt arms.
I feel the same way. I hear his voice and I know something biting, scathing, completely condescending, and assuredly hilarious is going to come. It’s really cool he did this podcast. Seems kind of out of his wheelhouse. Segura is actually a great guy to interview him too. Gets a lot out of him.

That was Lenny Bruce's argument in court: he demanded to do his own bit instead of having stenographers or cops try to do it, so the jury could see the context.
What's even more hilarious is you can still see the majority of the sketch (blackface and all) in the behind the scenes episode which is still up on netflix. Goes to show its all about posturing instead of actually doing anything.

For stuff that Dave and Bob do on their shows I thought that sketch was pretty tame in comparison. The blackface was funny in context, it's an idiot trying to upset a cop, in that context it shows how stupid it is that someone would do that. It isn't a celebration or glorification of it.
Part of the problem is we have too many people who can’t understand the difference between blackface in its original context versus blackface in comedic contexts. Too many stupid people.
