Quick Response QR Codes are a fast way to tag physical items that can be easily scanned by mobile phones allowing people to almost interact with the online site from the offline tag. Watch this example of scanning a QR code on a restaurant table tent using an iPhone. For more information on QR codes, mobile & internet marketing, please visit the site above.
    Basic QR Code Usage
The most basic (and popular use) of QR codes is to display website information (a website address). Lets say you're at a trade show and you're walking by my booth. You want to find out more information about my company, so you open up your phone and start fumbling away trying to type in some long URL (that is on my display) into your browser, and off you go.
    What They're NOT For
I've seen people put QR codes on their website and quite frankly that just defeats the purpose and nobody will ever scan it. The point is to take people from the physical world to the online world. If someone is already browsing your website, facebook page, twitter, some online 'property', they're already there. If I'm on my phone, I can exactly scan my screen of my phone with my phones camera now can I?
    QR Code Generation
Creating your own QR code could not be any easier. There are countless websites online that allow you to easily generate a QR code image. You take the image they give you and print it on whatever you want, place it wherever you want, it's a 'label' so to speak. Here is one to get you started:
    QR Content
Though typically QR codes identify URLs you can essentially represent any piece of information you like, here are some examples:
    Website URL
    Send a text message
    Send an email message
    Address Book record (vcard)
Display some text on your screen
Any bit of text you like

Trouble is that my eyesight is so poor even with my reading glasses I can't read the tiny writing on my mobile, so have to use a magnifier! So I have to wait till I get home or wait till I get somewhere I can sit down and get out said magnifier!
But thanks anyway, Kevin, perhaps I can now make more use (carefully of course) of QR codes!

I am applying for a job that needed me to go for further information on their QR Code. I had been avoiding using these things because I thought it would be a much bigger deal or I needed a more expensive phone or something (although I did put the reader on my Apple iPad), but only because my T-Mobil LG regular cell phone is thrashed! I did just what you said, I Googled QR Codes and they have readers recommended right there to download. I got the reader (which was free) and downloaded the information all in minutes, however.... it started with you and this video........ thanks immensely!

please anybody help me to rearrange this qestion
Q-1Below are the stages of a QR code jigsaw task. Put the stages in the correct order.
1-Create barcodes with a unique colour for each step.
2-Choose three or four recipes and save them to Pocket.
3-Give the learners a QR code with a web address link to the original recipe to check the answers.
4-Allocate each learner a colour. Explain that they each have steps of a recipe. Their task is to decode the steps and put them in order. Tell the class to find learners with the other colours and work together in groups.
5-Present a screenshot of the recipe web page that has been marked up with an app such as Awesome Screenshot to review language.
6-Show the codes or print them out. The learners scan the codes with their mobile devices and work in groups to put them in the right order.

If all you need is a website address that's just fine. Sometimes people put contact information into a bar code as an example. A QR code simply represents some 'text' of some kind in a machine readable image, that's it.

Unless the URL encoded is a 'tracker' there is no tracking. Like a link in an email. It's just a different 'format' of a link that's easy to quickly take photo of (instead of typing it using your keyboard).

One wanted me to down load something else which I'm not sure if it was free so I didn't that was the last one I down loaded and deleted. This stuff isn't user friendly maybe it's just the Sam Sung phone which I havn't been impressed with since I got.

Greetings Kevin, If l had 50 QR's which l think goes to my gallery once photo'd how does one differentiate between all of them in that they look
so similar. Do you think the future may be that incorporated in the code a unique signature ( e.g. kmft in your web address ) may be adopted.
Otherwise l would have to open each one to see the content and draft up the reference.
    Thanks for the tutorial
    Regards
    Anthony

They’re meant to be used on the spot in time and not really for “saving”. You can save the link it takes you to so there is really no need to keep the QR code itself.
