So i just fought as a member of the CDF in seige of orision.. Good stuff man...... I get the statement the lady makes at the start of event when she says "the CDF had been activated".... Good to learn the history of it
@@TheAstroHistorian this games got an impressive lore, backstory to it..... It d be fun to see the game development progress with us alpha testers of the game affecting the lore as it plays along
I like that this also explains how regular civilians can get their hands on capital ships I always thought it was strange as players that we had access to purchasing things like the idris, Polaris, or javelin
Yeah militias and defense forces is how it is in lore, The Javelin and the Idris other than the M variant are stripped down civilian variants and will need to be re equipped by the player to get the back to UEE Navy levels.
i love to see those videos letting us know what was before us, all the stories, legends that sorround the universe we going through day by day. keep it up with this good work you making. Great video as always :)
As a born and raised Citizen of the original City of Bremen here in good old Germany, this is accurate. A Starsystem that took my Homes Name for itself would have this kind of History
It'll be really neat to see another populated system added to the game some day. Pyro and Nyx are cool, but really only of substantial interest for the less-than-legal play loops. For those of use on the good side of the law, we need another civilized system to visit! Bremen would be a good option, Even better would be Terra, but that will likely be a big deal ...
Nicely done, Paul. The detail that you went into was well done, without going so far into it that it got tedious. Nice balance there. Looking forward to more, as always. :)
Brilliant and engaging as always! I've read bits and pieces about the BDF while looking for other information but this highlighted the important role that the BDF has played in many aspects of the current UEE.
WOW. Honestly, I am always surprised by the lore behind StarCitizen (and especially how much there is already) which has catapulted SC to my currently favorite Space-Universe already BUT this Story is somehow something special as it has a few different very influential stories with different themes spread over a long time that are still connected through some themes and of course the BDF... ...which is why I think this would actually make such a great construct for a TV-Series. Every one of those stories could be its own season, for example Season 1 being about the creation of the BDF, Season 2 being about the fall and eventual rise of the BDF (potentially ending in the BDF rising again while the founder passes away but seeing how his goals will still be represented by the BDF), Season 3 then being set during the Messer-Aera and showing how the small pocket of resistance is formed inside the BDF and how they operate undercover, ending right at the point where the Turn happens (the flood of Refugees coming back the path they once fled to fight against the Messers), Season 4 being the first one that doesn't have a time-jump between seasons and showing how the BDF fights together with other revolutionaries to overthrow the Messers, finishing with the victory. Season 5 (and maybe 6) is a lot more complex since how the story kind of fragments, but I would personally say that Season 5 should show two stories at the same time: The Rifts starting to develop between BDF and Advocacy and the Faron conflict with these two slowly finding together over the season through Amanda. The end being the "creation", or more the idea to create the CDF and the victory over the conflict in Faron. Season 6 then would of course be the beginnings of the CDF during the Vanduul-War (although at this point they weren't quite accepted yet) with the end being that the UEE realized how needed the CDF was to fill the needed space besides the Advocacy and ending in the official creation and appointment of the CDF Well, that is just me thinking about it for about 10min and I personally think there is so much potential in stories like this I simply think there is so much variety in this with every season being very distinct (from inspiring stories about how one old man trying to protect people could lead to something even greater over underground organizations fighting a totalistic regime to a space-polite-thriller) while still being connected in many other themes. It also allows for many time-jumps seeing the universe grow and evolve (and the universe around it would be interesting too because of all the other lore of SC having already enough Background-Details to make it feel like the universe is alive and this is only a small story in it) and for so many interesting characters being portrait
@@TheAstroHistorian Sure. I know. But have you let this fact sink in for a moment and actually thought about the implications? At some point players will come in (if the game actually gets finished at some point that is) who were not part of this event and who will only know about it from the lore. And they might meet other players who will basically be like Elrond and tell them "I was there. I fought in Stanton when the Darkness came and we pushed back with all our might."
Am curious what the main ships are on Bremen. I have a sudden thought of a ton of Mustang Deltas as support fighters. I mean, Consolidated Outland is from Bremen. Probably gives them a discount? Lol Seriously though, the Delta is no joke. Spent a week in one and was a little shocked how well it did in combat. Just using the 4 guns was enough in most cases but those rocket pods really knocked the crap out of ships when sheilds dropped! I guess maybe I should ask for Lore on Consolidated Outland? When first hearing about him thought Silas was just a playboy trillionaire, but seems he is better than that. So... am curious about what ships the BDF use, and what about Consolidated? Why are they all over the place with designs? Mustang, Pioneer, Nomad, and a flying quad. 4 very different designs. Just thing out loud and typing it out.
Likely CNOU gives a ton of ships to the BDF because the BDF likely acts as security for their transports as well. So Mustang Deltas, Nomads and the like are almost for sure commonplace in the BDF as they are local and easy to obtain if not entirely free. However the BDF uses any ships it can get a hold of to patrol so I wouldn't be surprised to see an Aurora, Hornet, Gladius, Cutlass, and so on.
Thank you for this history. I was curious about how I could be a bit of a CDF sympathizer in-game and the story of their origins was fun to learn about :)
Really fascinating piece of lore and well put together. Just one thing bothers me, that place at 2:23 had some interesting background lore as well and I can't find it anymore. It was a Banu or Xi'an planet and they suddenly left it and never came back is all I can remember. Gave me a creepy vibe.
So what you’re telling me is a bunch of space rednecks and space redneck veterans from Space Texas became a bunch of space badasses? Definitely a damn good bit of lore.
What ever the BDF can get really, though they helped make the Polaris and the Super Hornet was designed for them, We also know they use the Scorpius and Sabre as they were given to them to test.
@@TheAstroHistorian mmmm.....good to know. Will need to check out those stats to see how they are balanced. Thanks for the reply and good luck on your future videos.

If the CDF ever gets activated to defend Hurston I might just have to conscientiously object. Not to violence to be clear, to violence in defense of the absolute worst company in the system.
So i just fought as a member of the CDF in seige of orision.. Good stuff man...... I get the statement the lady makes at the start of event when she says "the CDF had been activated".... Good to learn the history of it
They are activated by the Advocacy as essentially a militia, volunteer and when the crisis is over they are disbanded.
