      * Again no keyboard/action upgrade? When, Yamaha? Another 4 years, 8, 16, or never?
      * Still *.wav files only!? Really?
      * Likewise no computer/MIDI/VST & plugins compatibility?
      * Are keys just glossy plastic surface? No pattered/moisture absorption surface?
      * No tablet connection (Bluetooth/WiFi or otherwise) to have a much larger (and upright) screen?
      * White speakers is a silly choice. They could have been 'pro' without being white. It will show more dust, sooner, will discolor from that and insect marks, and with everything else being black it looks tacky. Sure the keys are white too but that only amplifies the problem, in that the keys will be bright and glossy forever while the speakers will be a duller white with dust and stains making this look 'old and tired' much sooner with dust and stains and insect marks on the white.
      Waited years for this and what a disappointment. Does anyone know of something with 88 weighted and graded hammer action keys, that have patterning/moisture absorption, accompaniment feature, and VST compatibility? (It doesn't need to have its own speakers.) Add to that tablet/display connection would be icing on the cake.
      I wish I had the ability to manufacturer my own... My sales would drown these "1 in every 4 musical instrument" manufacturers who hold back upgrades and do things like reduce keys to 76, etc in under two years. [Sigh!]

    It really seems like an interesting keyboard to me. However, anyone who has decided that this keyboard do not need stereo outputs to connect to a loudspeaker, should consider their future in Yamaha. Or Yamaha should consider their future at the firm.

    What a splendid product! Thus far we've been amazed by the quality that Roland pianos have offered us in the lower price range. But this? This is crazy! Yamaha Genos has been one of those musical products that left me breathless when I played it. It does a great job with the articulations and to think one can get most of that and some extra lovely acoustic pianos in such a price range? It's incredible! I certainly should have waited a few more months before buying my Roland FP-30.
    What an impressive product!

    This keyboard is near top of the list for my next instrument. Two things it's lacking for me is line level output jacks and BT output to connect to BT speakers.

    • @JBF-GST-Tanda
      @JBF-GST-Tanda 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sadly, bluetooth audio has inherent latency problems and thus is not suitable for realtime instrument amplification. Even slightest lag between keystrokes and notes will ruin the player's performance experience.
      Line out, comparatively, is easier to achieve. Make a 1/4" TRS to dual 1/4" TS converter cable with a 47-ohm 1/4-watt resistor between each channel and ground - this works as a dummy load with an impedance similar to a pair of generic headphones, and makes the keyboard's output circuit run nearer to its designed working point. The output impedance is crazily low so generally there's no need for a DI box.

      I once owned the Casio PX560.....& before I bought it,there was so much hype about this keyboard & when I discovered it had workstation functionality,I thought it was the perfect & cheaper alternative to a Korg workstation keyboard.When I recieved my first PX560,it was all mangled & defective & then I re-ordered another one.I loved the key-bed & the large touchscreen was nice(but apart from a very few select programs,most of the sounds were very disappointing.Also...I found that the menu layouts(particularly in the sequencer area)...was very confusing & tedious and the editing features are nowhere near as good as Korg's workstations.Perhaps the PX560 suits your needs & you are happy with it hopefully.....but based on my experience with the PX560,I think the DGX 670 is a far superior keyboard and it's $400 less!

    For sure that is an amazing keyboard. Didn't the DGX-660 come with a nice wood stand? I don't understand what is "in real time", what would not in real time be? That piano and guitar sounds were amazing. I personally liked the sharper design lines of the 660, but that colored screen and new sounds for sure make up for that. Just, no stand?

  • @midex1

    I own а DGX-660 - relatively good basic piano with elementary arranging functions. The new model has the same basic keyboard (GHS), but from everything of the old model, there is more added - polyphony, +2 sections of the arranger, more sounds, more arrangements, etc. Of course, there are a lot of extras that DGX-660 does not have.
    I have been waiting for a long time Yamaha to release a new model of the DGX series and unfortunately it came out 1 year after the similar model XE-20 from Korg. Well... I still like my old DGX-660 - I don't just like the quality of the extra three pedals (LP-7A) and that the arranger has no function "fingered on bass" (what a shame).

    I wish Yamaha would have put in a better speaker system, at 6W per side, it's very weak. When hooked to quality studio headphones, the 660 sounds impressive, so imagine the 670 will be much the same. When playing for a small venue, what is the best solution to amplify and create a quality depth and yet distinct sound? I'm looking at the Bose L1 Pro 8 system as an alternative, but it's $1200, i.e., $400 more than the DGX, but may be worth it. What are your thoughts?

    Jeremy, this is incredible, and looks nice, and for the price, and for the sounds. I would get this. Maybe later. I would buy it and keep it at church to replace the older, lower Yamaha keyboard, since I don't have room at home for an 88, but want one to be able to play with full weighted action. At $800, it's cheap thsn the awesome $1200 Roland RD 88, snd even less than the 61 key Roland V Combo.

I have been using the Yamaha PSR keyboards and, of course, there is a built-in harmonizer on those keyboards, but I want to get a more a pianistic style keyboard. This seems to be a better choice. Thanks for your help.

      Unfortunately, I am just a tiny and insignificant TH-cam channel and Yamaha doesn't provide me with an early access review unit to make helpful videos for my viewers. I have to queue and buy like everyone else. I will make more detailed reviews and comparison when my order arrives.

    I can't believe that Yamaha is still selling the PSR SX600 for $1000 while the DGX670 is priced at $800. Also this DGX670 has better piano sounds even compared to the $2200 PSR SX900. The arranger series of Yamaha are way overpriced and I truly hope to see more competition in the arranger market.

      In an earlier video I said the same thing. The DGX 670 squashes the PSR SX600 and PSR SX700. The ONLY thing the arrangers have over this is MIDI but if you have no need for MIDI than this is the kit you need.

      The PSR still has more features that's useful for gigging musicians that's worth the $200 difference. On top of my head: portability, more registration slots, an assignable mod wheel, proper line outs and a touch screen.
      It's not surprising that DGX has better piano sounds than more expensive PSR models. It's meant to be a digital piano after all. Heck, my P125 has much better sound than the S775 for less than half the cost.

    So I had a thought. I am assuming that the OS in this unit is Linux based just like the Montage/MODX. If that is the case would the USB to VGA hack work on this unit as well using the front USB port? Granted no touch screen but output to huge screen for karaoke purposes? Thoughts?

    OK...confusing....the beginning graphic says DGX660...but the video is all about the new DGX670.
    I own (2) DGX650's and a Yamaha Genos...but this DGX670 is something I've been waiting for because of the CFX piano instead of the CF or C7 being the flagship piano.. The CFX is far superior to the CF. also a weighted 88 key keyboard (the Genos is 71 key non-weighted). Don't get me wrong, the Genos will still be my main keyboard with all it's capabilities, but I like having at my disposal a weighted 88 key piano.

    It's funny to me and I'm not sure if anyone else notices this; but I've been buying the PSR series since the late 90's (PSR-530) and I've noticed over the years that the DGX line is slowly becoming the PSR as the PSR and Clavinova slowly become the Tyros/Genos. I'm not sure if that marketing strategy is genius or nefarious, though... Maybe both! LOL

    The Amazon link brings up YAMAHA DGX660B for $799.99 whereas the Sweetwater (reputable) link brings up Yamaha DGX670B for $799.99.
    Some sites seem to show $1,299 for DGX-670 ... all somewhat confusing but I *think* the Yamaha DGX670B should be available for $799.99 from wherever (but buyer needs to be careful it is not the *660* they are buying for $799.99?)

    • @JeremySee

    My verdict:
    1. FINALLY! The flagship CFX VRM (Virtual Resonance Modeling) sampling made its way into an affordable instrument. It's truly a "Portable Grand" now.
    2. I like the design and layout, very reminiscent of the Clavinova and PSR-SX600 combined.
    3. Non-piano sounds has been overhauled to include PSR-S sound engine
    4.PSR-S style engine with only one intro and one ending. No problem...
    5. Why the hammer action hasn't changed? Come on Yamaha... you can do better to compete with Casio's top notch hammer action
    6. Color screen but not a touch screen. No need to complain in order to reduce the price poinr
    7. 16 track full sequencer and Audio Record? ABSOLUTELY YES! I could make better covers with this instead of PSR, say goodbye to limited key range
    8. I assume this have full compatibility with styles from every Yamaha keyboard other than Tyros and Genos, but only one intro/ending is detected.

    • @JeremySee
      @JeremySee  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are 3 intros and endings. I will cover that in my review. 😉

    • @HighlandStudio91

      @herdjati pravito What do you mean by "full sequencer?" If by that you mean that the DGX 670 has full editing features such as adjustable measure creation,copy & paste function,insert effects on individual tracks? Not very likely.....& to my knowledge,no Yamaha keyboard since the Motif series,has such song sequencer functionality(not even the Genos.)

    This looks like a Dynamite Board. They seemed to have improved the action to GHS (Standard), and up'ed the polyphony. It's feature rich for sure. What's turning my mood ring Black are the physical specs. They call this "Portable"? It's nearly 50 lbs! And not exactly slimline. I keep saying, Casio needs to take the guts of a PX-s3000, and marry it to a decent key bed. I'll buy it!! I think portable ends at 35 lbs.

    • @JeremySee
