Thanks so much for the great review, would be interested to watch instruction video that show how to use the arranger function of the piano e.g. looping feature, and the different setting you used to overcome it's limitation of 2 layers
Hi Angelo. I'm getting ready to purchase a DGX 670. Thanks for the review. I own a DGX 230 and love it. It's time to upgrade and the 670 seems to meet my needs. I love how you can use the earphones out as a line to a monitor or amp. You can split left and right for super concert sound. I'm subscribing and hope you will be able to answer future questions I might have. Thanks again. Keep playing and posting.
Great review and demonstration of Styles. I’m eagerly awaiting your treatment of the voices. Also, I’m sure many of us would appreciate detailed ‘how-to’ feature demos, I.e.: …exporting midi data vs. sound files, or DAW integration. Do you know of any?
Thank you for the video! Probably one of the best on TH-cam for this piano for sure! I was curious about the loop pedal you were using, you mentioned Bose 300 but I'm having a hard time finding the model online.
Great video review, just wanted to say that this keyboard has a whopping 256 notes polyphony, because you said it has 64 notes polyphony. Enjoyed the review though.
Nice demo, but either you got the model wrong or the specs wrong when you said it has 64-note polyphony and 20-watt speakers. The DGX-670 has 256-note polyphony and 2 x 6 watts amps.
The keybed gives out 64 note polyphony. It's only with the internal sounds you can achieve 256. Bit of sneaky marketing from Yamaha to trick people there. As for speakers under testing they each give a 10watt output. I'll message Yamaha to ask as I can see they should send out 6watts but there are giving more. When I play this next to my Roland 90 which has 20 watt output too they are equal in volume when both at full end.
@@AngeloProMusician Can you expand on what you mean with regard to the polyphony? I don't understand what "the keybed gives out 64" means, nor what the "only with the internal sounds" means. Super curious to hear; I always thought polyphony was just polyphony (how many notes can be sounded by the processor at a single time before they drop off) Thanks!
why don't you use the psr 900 any more, I would be interested to know. Also have you tryed any Vangoa products and if so, I know they have backing tracks, could you demo a few, thanks
thank you for your thoughts on the flagship Yamaha DGX-670. I own one now and am thrilled by its formidable capabilities. However, although I can now manage to transfer and even modify songs from the PIANO ROOM to my use USB, cant seem to actually save the voice modified version in SONG EDIT. Advice please! thanks
@@AngeloProMusician thanks for that. Um, after (menu) SONG CREATOR, after (tab) SETUP, thats when the CHECK MARK doesn't move --- and APPLY has no effect...
For gigging with it, you don't find the lack of L/R lineouts and/or the monstrous weight and size to be issues? I love the idea of this piano for home/music recording, but agonizing over whether to get this or a P125 for playing live given the portability advantages of the 125
HIya, No it's never been a problem. You can set it to use its own speakers with the phones connected. you can put a double jack out too. I've used this on stage for festivals and dont forget that when you get to a cirtain distance stereo becomes mono to our ears anyway so no big deal. I've used it professionally in theatres too and never been a problem as we take the signal into audio interfaces or DI boxes and feed out as we need. As for weight, definitely not a problem!! I don't think any pro would call this monstrous, we are used to using far heavier equipment even down in theatre pits. It's actually lighter than many models with speakers built in with this functionality. I own a P125 too. They are worlds apart. A decent case with wheels makes this light to transport and move about and I couldn't recommend the P125 to anyone over this as it's such a superb keyboard for the price.
Ciao Angelo già ti avevo scritto potresti fare un video dimostrativo per vedere come usi il pedale e come crei il loop? Consiglio per pedale loop da inserire? Io ho un 3 pedali standard
Hi Angelo, just said you don't mind that the dgx 670 only has 64 polyphony, the specification states 256 notes of polyphony up from 192 the previous model, please clarify, I'm considering purchasing this as my first beginner keyboard/piano? Oh dear, I'm not sure this is the DGX 670 your reviewing spec states speakers are 6w not 20w, clarify this too please?
Mine was faulty as you can hear in the video. It’s since been repaired and now has the 256 as stated. Woo! Plus it was WAY louder than it should have been. That’s been fixed too… sadly. That what happens when you send to official Yamaha to fix it.
I sit and jam on this kbd everytime I go to my local music store. I love this kbd but to be honest I don't want 88 keys. I want this same machine in 76 keys. I have a foldable carrier case/bag for a 76 key kbd. My current kbd is 76 keys. If I bought this I would keep my 76 key just for travel, but don't want 2 kbds. Its why I want 1 sys that does it all and its why I want this in 76keys.
@@AngeloProMusician Can you please tajke a look at this demo and let me know exactly what setting the player uses for his A Whiter Shade of Pale rendition, thank you th-cam.com/video/fy64c2CSv5Y/w-d-xo.html
@@AngeloProMusician That's super interesting - so you're saying that only 64 polyphony is allocated to the keys? How are you able to tell that this is the case? Seems strange that this model would have only 64 polyphony for the keybed yet the P125 (which has only simple rhythms, and VERY simple bass accompaniment) has 192? Very confused . . .
@@islandtony5009 Mine did yes. After a very forceful comment on here saying that's definly not correct and i need to prove that its 64 polyphony and that shouldnt be possible I sent it back to Yamaha. Mine was repaired free of charge and it now has the correct amount as it should. They said it was down to an electrical fault. But the main thing is it now works correctly and from the video I can still hear it's very different to how it is now. I'm really pleased it's fixed.
@@AngeloProMusician Oh ok - thanks so much for replying I thought I was going crazy - and glad you have it back. What about the weight and no line outs for performing? The headphone port working ok? The prior version 660 had a menu thing where you could convert the port to line level instead of headphone (I'm assuming disabling the headphone amp in the jack?) but they removed that for the 670

I'm using the BOSS RC-300 to loop when I use this piano. I will eventually do a video on how to connect it all up to allow it to loop the sounds.
Wonderful review Angelo! would be better if u up the volume of the music so that we can feel the punch of this instrument!

Please see my message above to the other person that asked. The 256 is for when used with the styles. The output of keybed is 64

The user interface is very kludgy. Strings voices don't sustain with the pedal.
