Here is part 2. Thank you for watching, your support and thoughts. Last week's video meant a lot and this one was hard to film. Not the decision I wanted to take, but one I had to. Thank you for watching and stay tuned for new adventures to come! xx Jennie
I lived in the same apartment in NYC for 24 years and in the same neighborhood for 28 years. It was until new people moved in, who made a tremendous amount of noise, that I decided to finally move out. Before the end of this year, I am leaving NYC to live closer to my family. I'm definitely glad, and looking forward to, living close to family and in a different state. New York City is no longer for me.
I am so sorry this happened to you and contributed to you leaving NYC. I understand so well as this is definitely a factor that I was considering. The noisy, disrespectful neighbors impact the daily life and mental health so negatively. Sad New York is losing you but impressed with the length you stayed. I'm sure your family is happy to have you back soon! Take care
I grew up in NJ and lived/worked in NYC until I was 32. I used to think I could never live outside of NYC because it’s so magical but a job opportunity allowed me to take a chance on Dallas, Tx. I’m now 37 and I know that NYC is the only city for me. I miss the rich culture, diversity, constant stimulation, and quirkiness of NYC. I miss the talent, open-mindedness, creativity, and even the directness of its inhabitants. I miss getting lost in the myriad of neighborhoods with different vibes. This is why I intend to move back this year (assuming I can find a new job there). Thanks so much for your video. You made the right choice. ❤❤❤
I get that. Which is why leaving the city is so hard. There is nowhere else like here and you have to listen to your needs. Hoping we get you back this year! Take care!
I can imagine the relief you felt having this settled, happy for you. 🎊So glad you negotiated the increase down a bit & are determined to see the repairs made. I love your apartment so I will enjoy still being able to see it & the park through you & Harrison. (2 very cool doggo names, Harrison & his bud Fairbanks)😎. Hope your back has mended. Take care❤
Yes, not sure if the commitment or having to negotiate was the most stressful. Glad it is done! Thank you for your support and being here. 🐶 They're both amazing creatures deserving their cool names. 😊 The back is slowly getting better 💕
Félicitations pour ta décision, de prendre le temps de planifier ton prochain chapitre et visiter les lieux qui te feront vibrer pour de nouvelles aventures. Je te souhaite le meilleur pour ces prochains mois ✨✨
Mon Cherie, It is always a stressful and concerning each year when you rent! All over it is so as the rent increase are a constant unknown yearly. I am from Qns Ny and lived there almost 50 yrs! I live in Pa ( Poconos area) and it's still the rising costs of EVERYTHING can be a lot! I think by next year you may be ready to leave By and do your research or visit other parts or you may decide to return to France. I will be visiting Paris for the first time end of March - April and I looking forward to a wonderful visit! All the best!
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Nowhere is stable anymore, inflation is everywhere... Have a wonderful time in Paris and eat lots of éclairs and croissants! 😊
A bientôt 😘
Merci Florence. Je sais, la décision est mienne mais je ne voulais pas vous tenir en haleine non plus (ça se dit? J'en perds mon French parfois...). Un changement est nécessaire et arrivera en temps voulu. En attendant, NYC with Harrison :) Bonne journée
I’m embarrassed to say I’ve become anxious over the last year. Never felt anything like it until last January. On a flight (I fly often and for decades) I felt like I was going to die. Felt the immense need to get off the plane it was so amazing. Felt it again few days later in a hotel room at night. Many months and flights later it’s been fine…until a few weeks ago. I’ve had the scariest most horrible experiences lately. From what I’ve learned it sounds like anxiety. Can’t imagine having it my entire life. Respectfully
I does sound similar to panic attacks. I wish you well, these are scary and the worst to experience, especially when alone. What helps me, other than medications, is breathing, slowing down, and journaling to try to understand where the triggers are. Talking to someone can help as well. I used to hide my anxiety, feeling so ashamed of the episodes, but now, I accept them and that was kind of a step towards feeling better. Take care!
Oh my God! I would love to live in France. Native New Yorker (born and raised). Have been out of NYC for over 20 years now. Used to miss it terribly but it has changed so much and not for the better so I don't miss it as much as I used to. Live in the southwest now and weather is much, much better.
Thank you for watching. France is great, has its ups and downs like everywhere else ;) I hear you, the city has changed so much since the pandemic. I do have to say, I love the weather as I enjoyed all 4 seasons :)
Thanks for the update. Yes, it’s better to take time before making such a big decision related to changing living situations. I think for some people, there is a fear that giving up a New York City apartment might mean never being able to find an affordable NYC apartment ever again. Suggestions: If you want to stay within an hour train ride from New York City, you should check out apartments (relatively affordable) in the cool little towns along the Hudson (Beacon, Cold Springs, Kingston, etc).
Thank you for the tips. I like the area north of the Hudson River so could be worth for me to go back there and explore more. Unfortunately, affordability and NYC don't go together anymore and it is definitely pushing people out.
You made the right choice for sure….NYC is the s$&t, always has been and always will be…The minute you go ANYWHERE else, you will miss it dearly-I know it can be pretty rough here, but the rewards outweigh the challenges in terms of convenience, variety, and options….A sound decision on your part, well done!
You're touching something real, Richard. It's so hard imagining a life outside NYC where so many things and opportunities are here. Let's see what the future holds but for now, it's New York :)
I'm glad you are staying in NYC and are feeling relieved. Now you have time to make a decision about your future. Maybe it's NYC to the end? Who knows. I'm just happy that you're happy. Peace 🕊️
Hahah, NYC to the end feels a little too much of a commitment. Let's see... Who knows what will happen but I definitely have a desire to explore life somewhere else too ;)
Hi, new subscriber here. I enjoyed watching your videos and can relate as I lived in NYC and the surrounding area for most of my life. I could tell from your last video that your NYC adventure is not over just yet. You will know when it is time to move on.Things like when the cons outweigh the pros, when the NYC amenities don't matter as much to you as having your own porch/lawn/backyard or when the costs of living and taxes become prohibitive. Harrison Ford is awesome! When I get a dog again, I think I may name him Clint Eastwood : ) Keep up the great work on your videos!
Thank you and welcome! Not done with NYC just yet. Even though the cons are extremely challenging to live with, the pros are definitely ones you don't find anywhere else. Until then, Harrison and I are here. Clint Eastwood is such a great name! I hope you get your new pup soon!
actually just moving out of Manahattan would be a good choice financially, Brooklyn has cheaper living & the "city" (which people from the 4 other NYC boroughs call downtown aka Manhattan) is just a train stop away...Brooklyn also has variation of pricing in different neighborhoods, Queens has good finds also
With nearly 3 hours daily outside with my dog, I need a big park and unfortunately, around prospect park is not so different from what I pay in Manhattan. I'm leaning towards a more radical change if I move.
It’s your decision and life, not ours. You do what’s best for you. Moving is a much more major deal these days because places to rent are scarce and sky high everywhere. My prediction to where you would like to move is easy. I’ll bet it’s Florida.
Thank you! Moving really is such a huge ordeal these days, not just with finances but also work wise. I'm not sure about Florida. Love visiting but I definitely enjoy a good Winter. Who knows?! :)
New subscriber here 😊.. i totally support your decision, moving city or State takes lots of planning and work plus NY is worth at least for another year 💓

Was in the same position last year and left but came back a few months later 😂
Hahah Welcome back then. The stories of being a New Yorker. The city holds something over us 😊

Nice video. Best wishes from Serbia/Europe.
I appreciate it! Sending you good vibes.
I love those dogs, my mood just increased by watching.😊
Hahah, definitely my favorite part of living near Central Park is all the dogs we meet on the daily! thank you for watching 😊
