Great review! Almost 3 yrs go, I found the Crossway single column ESV journaling Bible by accident for $15 on clearance at a major Christian bookstore. I immediately began using it for sermon/study notes. It has filled up quick! I bought the Interleaved edition a few weeks ago. HUGE - I agree it is a stay at home bible...Beautiful. I'm not a journaling artist. I just like my notes in my Bible instead of floating around on scraps of papers. Loved your review

I am just getting into the ESV and I have yet to purchase one...have a digital ESV on my tablet and love the translation!! I currently use a HCSB for journaling simply because that is the translation I use with my everyday Bible. This video review was a great help to me. Thanks for your video. With your help, I just purchased the Crossway ESV large print journaling bible in black. I was also glad it is hardcover per Crossway's webpage. I love hardcover bibles. Now to figure out what type of pen, or grade of pencil lead to use.

Hi Rebekah. My favorite is the double column black cover bible you showed first. It's my first journaling bible, so it's special to me. My second favorite is the bible with the brown cover with the leaves on it. I just love the feel of the cover. And my third favorite is the interleaved with the leather cover. It's so expensive I am intimidated to use it! 😆 Thanks for sharing! Sue
Thank you for this review! I've got the ESV Interleaved Bible, which is a wonderful Bible. However, I'm finding it very difficult to do art in it as it does not lie flat when open. And it weighs 1,87 Kg! But it will be the perfect Bible for studying & note-taking.
I always return to yr fantastic reviews when looking for diffrent types of Bibles. I prefer line-free bibles for I find the lines are too far apart. I want to write more tightly.

I actually have 2 of the Real Leather crossway bible, and they truly are keepsake/heirloom bibles, and the leather is soo sooooo nice! so with that said, the all leather bible is my favorite bible!

I love to journal in my Bible but I have a loose leaf bible that use, I can photo copy the page I am studying and I always use a pencil as I do make errors all the time. Love your blog and Thanks for letting me reply.
i WISH they made the single column esv the same square size as the double column. :( i have the SRT and it is too rectangular and bulky for me i've seen the esv double column journaling one on videos here and there and really like the shape and small size..

I hear you on that. Though, the interleaved Bible is already really heavy and could be unreasonable if the paper were any thicker. Crossway use this cream color on all their Bibles... presumably from the same factory. Probably a close alternative would be the Illustrating Bible by Dayspring, which comes in a couple of colors. I'm pretty sure with all her gorgeous artwork, bible publishers would be more than happy to provide her with the different styles they make for free :-) If I were a bible publisher like Crossway I'd be begging her to use the products they make.

How do the plain white edges hold up over time? Does gold gilding protect the pages or is it more just for looks?

Can u still personalize your Bible if it has a cloth cover?
Can you recommend one that is close to Bibles you use on youtube with a larger print ? The print is tiny on those two or it is to me.

Always test the pen on a spare page, but the paper is the same as the written pages and is coated to withstand pens, watercolor, highlighters etc.
