This is the first tube preamp for bass that I've heard that actually sounds like a tube.

It's very cool for what you're shooting for in the studio or live session. It did get a little harsh on one setting.

    • @tehultimateshreddar

While the unit does sound nice, the tube is there for the light only. The amount of current that a real tube powered preamp would need, could not come from that tiny power block that this pedal has. Even any cheaply made amplifiers with tube preamps have bigger transformers than this device or it's power adapter could case.
Source: I own this pedal and am quite fond of it. But a tube preamp it is not. Ask any tube hardware manufacturer. If we could get real tube sound from such tiny devices, tube equipment would be much smaller.

Love that you guys have a bass specific series now, but can we please have the videos open with some sample playing of whatever is being demoed at the start? 10:29min of talk, which is informative and I want to hear but it would have a bit more context if we heard some playing first, then talk, then play - fiddle with settings etc.

+CaptAnderton carry on talking, I'm not too proud to listen to the breakdown of what it is that I'm on the fence about.
I don't actively play bass, unless I'm solo recording. So keep selling it, this pedal is useful.
Sounds great to my ears, I might be leaving a SA PBass Driver pedal.

Hello CaptAnderton, I recently purchased a Le Bass pedal. Unfortunately I cannot use this pedal because of UK power supply :(
Andertons customer service won't assist me in this matter...
In a lot of TH-cam videos you are promoting worldwide shipping, global trade. But nobody in the world, except UK can make use of electronic products sold at Andertons.
How are you planning to solve this issue?
      Love your videos btw! :)
      Best Regards

    • @Beakphoto
      @Beakphoto 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Erik - it looks like it's a 12VDC power input on the side so you're talking about the power adaptor it shipped with (aka the power brick to use an Apple term)? IF the power supply says 100v-240v on it then all you have to do is find an actual plug adaptor so the Type G plug (or possibly Type C/E/F since it's made in France) converts to a Type A or B. But make sure it says 100v-240V on it. Or you can just purchase an aftermarket 120V - 12VDC adaptor (which you'd use in North America for most pedals) and use that. If you're having an issue with 50Hz / 60Hz issue, there's a converter for that as well.

    • @ErikRave
      @ErikRave 7 ปีที่แล้ว

HI there, thanks for the help.
It's not the point that I cannot find a proper PSU, but it is more like that Andertons promote worldwide shipping.
When I purchase a product (specially an expensive boutique product), I expect a properly working unit.
Not that I have to buy extra additional things to make it work.
Another thing is garantee. IF another PSU from another brand causes the pedal to malfunction, who is going to pay for that? I'll bet companies will say it was my fault because I did not use the PSU that it came with...

Nice tone with the cold fusion, reminds me of my old Ampeg SVT5 Pro that had the same kind of clean/dirt channel blend but weighed a ton.
With heavy music you need the clean on the lower end for the punch and cut through the other instruments and the dirt on the mid to higher frequencies to blend in and underpin the distortion from the guitars.

So far this has been the best video of this pre amp. You guys have at least gone through the entire unit. Other videos Ive seen don't really make me want to buy it but yours did, and I bought bc of your video. It does work and sound great. Tons of options to choose from. One improvement would be able to switch between the fusion modes on the fly rather having to bend over and hit the button. Other than that I've found it really great. I'm still getting used to it and dialing in the favorite tones. I haven't used it at a gig yet but in rehearsal I have and I really like the way it fills out the sound. Thanks for the video.

Matt Beedham Yeah, `i avoided that Squire tag and headed straight buying a "Fender `jazz" instead, perhaps a play safe approach. Now I realised I spent too much, a good bass player like this guy can make a any Squire sound good & expensive:)

onzkicg Let's not forget about the Mark Bass amp either! There are some cracking low price instruments out there now. I'm currently saving for a Sire V7. If I ever own a fender Jazz it'll be something obscene like a 60s, stack pot or something. So never gonna happen!

I think you missed the greatest usecase for this pedal. If you are in a small band playing clubs and stuff often you have to play through whatever amp they give you. As result you sound different everytime and you can't develope your signature sound. This gives you an option to have your sound through those amps for monitoring purposes and give the mixdesk the DI so your fans can hear your signature sound wherever you go without having to transport tons and tons of gear.

What I want to accomplish is as follows:
Plug bass into bass preamp - pedal size or slightly larger preferred.
Plug BALANCED LINE LEVEL OUT of preamp directly into my Ad/Da converter to capture PROCESSED signal. TRS or XLR is fine.
Simultaneously I would like to take an INSTRUMENT LEVEL output from the preamp and plug it into the instrument level inputs on one of my mic pres to capture the UNPROCESSED DI.
Any suggestions that match this feature set? Nice Overdrive, cab sim, and eq section is a bonus.

I don't really have a need for a 500W 2x10 amp though. Mostly playing in my apartment or in my uncles basement. I was thinking either the 100W 1x12 or the 200W 1x15 probably because I love the tone of a 15" speaker. I've had some limited use at guitar center and they seem pretty good.

Great review. Seems like a very capable pedal... that's almost as big as a class D head. LOL
Re your comments about all cabs sounding similar. I used to think so too. In reality, they're pretty different, but then if you're going DI maybe it doesn't matter. 16 Cabs is at least 10 too many options. Guitarists need to get over this as well. We know what sounds good. It's about 4 different cabs.

is the le bass running straight into the bass amps input? or is it being run into the bass amps fx loop, bypassing the bass amps own pre amp? or is the bass amp just a power amp?

I can't believe I'm just discovering this pedal now. I was able to get it on GuitarCenter website for $240 USD, which is nearly $200 less than a DarkGlass Ultra pedal but has more features and 2 Proper separate Channels, along with an effects loop. This looks like an Amp killer.

What would the difference be between using the effects loop and just putting the effects in line between the preamp and the cab pedal?

    • @ChristianIce
      @ChristianIce 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

There's a difference if you push/eq the sound before the distortion.
IF the eq is pre distorion you will have a more consistent output, if you apply the distortion first and the eq later it will affect the balance of the signal.
Try it with your DAW, you'll see the difference in the waveform.
A pre eq distorted sound will appear squared and consistent, because the distortion acts like a compression too.
A post eq distorted sound will have floating dynamics according to the eq.

I'm trying to learn more about a decent home practice setup. My amps are rubbish and I don't have the "freedom" to pick up a nice amp and play loudly, both guitar or bass at home.
Are preamps a good way for headphone practice, and a much better way to use things like Guitar Rig or other "emulation" software? Right now, I go directly into an audio interface and emulate the whole thing. I get mild latency issues and never a really good sound. Usable, but recordings from others are always very, very different and they never talk about their whole set up.
Basically, can anyone give me a quick run down for guitar and/or bass to give me a good way to practice with headphones, or out to my hi-fi where I don't need to blast the sound, whilst obtaining the best or most "authentic" sounds I can?

Buy this LeBass Pedal along with the Torpedo CAB emulator pedal and your set for home practice. The Torpedo CAB pedal will give you the sound of cabinets and the LeBass a preamp. Plug in some professional headphones into the torpedo cab and your set. An amazing home, live, touring rig ready to go. Add a compressor and whatever effects you may want and your set for life.

Cool test, but it seems (if i'm wrong, ignore my rant :) ) you plugged the pedal into the input of the Mark Bass amp (which has its own preamp), whereas this pedal is a preamp already so it's meant to be plugged in the fx return (or poweramp in) of the Mark Bass already.
Not saying that using the input of the amp can't sound good, but that's not how it's supposed to be used in the first place.
    My 2 cents

    • @simonlees2848

I'll probably run mine through the input on my markbass because it's clean and because I'll probably use the eq on that as well. I often set the mid lows and mid highs differently which you can't do on the clean channel of the Le bass

Way too scoped & thin for my tastes. I like my dirt nice & thick. The fusion mode, especially hot, makes the Le Bass more substantial. The VT has improved though w the cab sim, and is cheaper. Not a bad choice at all, but I think Le Bass is more expensive for a reason........even challenges the Dark Glass stuff.

In my opinion this is a nice but useless piece of technology. One of my friends has this unit and I decided to give it a try during a rehearsal with my band. The unit was plugged into a vintage bass combo amplifier Roland Studio Bass 100. It is a very clean sounding solid state amp. The intention was to use is as a boost for my bass (Ibanez SRX-300 equipped with DR LO Riders 50-110 tuned to D). Channel A sounded fine, except for the fact that it had little to no midrange. I tried compensating that with the EQ on my amp, but I was unable to reach the desired effect. Channel B and various fusions, sucked out the lows out of the tone and despite the abundance of controls, I was not able to find the tone that I would consider usable. The main problem is that the bass got lost in the mix, when ever this pedal was turned on. Normally I used BOSS Bass Overdrive in clean mode for the same purposes and it keeps and mids and the lows, adding slight grit and punch. That pedal is far from being perfect either, because once you turn the balance knob to Overdrive, the bass gets drowned in the mix.

Bassist can attest to the fact!!..how many of us have showed up to gigs (world🌎 wide even!)🙄...and found that the Bass Amp/Speaker is just shitty!!???..huh?🤨🎶🎸
    Talk about being bummed ‼️
Nothing can strain your cool ,..press ya’ button & f#%*k up your groove like experiencing 💩🎶sound during your show/ performance!!...can I get a “Hell Yeah”⁉️...🤘🏾

They're idiots, but I concluded the pedal doesn't sound like a tube amp. So that's it.

10 min into this and they've managed to babble the time away and complicate a fairly straightforward piece of equipment.
