    Great video, I Mute it and just watch the back ground. I lived down the Warren for 4 weeks on the cliff side and seeing the 4am sunrises were spectacular

    Hi Lads, enjoyed the Vid, not a Fisherman but Folkstonian. There was a big slip close to where you were fishing only three days ago and there are fair cracks appearing in the chalk above. The whole Warren was created in a landslide 100 years ago,, the subsoil is clay sliding on blue marle and when the cliffs go, well they go. Please beware of frost as it expands and pulls of chunks the size of houses. Take care Folks and I wish you happy fishing

    Excellent video, thanks. I have fished the Folkestone end of the Warren with mixed results, the best being 2 small turbot. I look forward to your next video.

    Thanks for the video. Mentioning whiting really was a curse!! That's the first time I've been nervous watching any video on here!! You caught more whiting in one session than I did in 30+ - Saying that, I went in Summer. |I fished Hythe in late September and caught 4 whiting in the first hour! I got really nervous when I saw you fishing on the beach over the reef. I'm determined to fish the far side of the reef in Summer - about another 300 metres further towards Samphire Hoe. I have 2 new rods and reels ready to go, so once the weather picks up I'll be along that stretch. I'll get a tripod and make some extremely badly-edited and generally very amateurish videos using my iPhone & iMovie.
    I did fish the Warren around the Christmas time and had a couple of small bass & pouting from where you were on your second visit, although, I do cast dangerously close to the reef. I fished there during a storm in Summer and had waves crashing over that wall, creating 4-5 inches of rushing water in that area. It was unnerving, but still good fun & I didn't blank!
    Once it picks up, I'll let you know and you can give it another go. It really is a gem of a spot for multiple species (he said...!) that very few people fish for obvious reasons. I sat on beautiful summer days there watching 2-3lb mullet swim along the wall in groups. If you take the kids there, you can drop a line down the wall and pluck out small wrasse one after the other. I'm itching to go, so it won't be long! Tight lines.

    • @gsp
      @gsp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I knew it was cursed as soon as you mentioned whiting too😂😂😂but none the less it does look like on its day it could produce some really good fish and I'm definitely gonna go back. Funnily enough the only bite I got in the 1st session was over the reef, decent bite, could have been a good wrasse but I was talking to a local chap that was telling me he snorkels the whole area alot and walks along there nearly every day. Funnily enough I saw him walk past me on the second visit!
      It was worth the walk up there just to see the mark and has definitely made me want to go again

      @@gsp - The Bloke you met was John. I've spoken to him there a few times. He was hanging around for a bass during the summer one day (I catch and release), but I kept catching a few cm's undersize!! He hinted that the smaller ones taste better, but his hinting fell on deaf ears! I'll redeem myself by going along in March and catching something other than whiting (instantly jinxed!!).

    kent coast used to the mecca for cod fishing but not any more, nothing much about worth keeping, it started good for cod in the bristol channel oct/nov. but its preety dead here now. its so sad.

    • @gsp
      @gsp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree! A prize cod from here now would be a 5lb fluke. They are so few and far between. Alot of fishermen from Kent head towards the Bristol channel or Chesil to catch one because at least there is more chance than anywhere here. You get the odd few at dungeness, hythe and Thames but all pretty small, couple of pound and that ends up being the talk of the town for a week!

    Why fixed spools? They seem to be the fashion these days?

    • @gsp
      @gsp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because they are so much easier to use and are far more versatile. I'm used to them and have caught fish from 1oz to 200lb plus on them and never had a problem

    • @jasonjoyce4487
      @jasonjoyce4487 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair enough. They retrieve faster and no risks of birds nests. As a multiplier user, I find the fixed spools less smooth and feel more clumsy. But looking down the beaches, I see more fixed spools than multipliers. I’ve not had a birds nest in years but I’m no longer the fashion!
