that comment on the zippo was amazing, i never knew that. i actually jumped up and grabbed my zippo, which is notorious for not lighting on the first light, and tested the theory, and it worked.
The latest Peanut lighters have a recess groove for the o-ring to ride on, and is completely tucked away when the cap is screwed on. Copies have the O-ring partially explosed and when subjected to environmental conditions the waterproofness tends to be short lived. My only peeve is that the inserts could have been more snug, threaded could be better, especially if its carried upside down or on its side more often than right side up.
Just received mine today (stainless steel peanut) and it is very cool! Order one now! Don't go for the smaller "split" pea unless you want it tiny, the 'larger' one is very small anyway!
***** The time it takes for the fluid to dry out will also depend on the humidity in the area you live in. I live in a very dry area so a full zippo dosint last long.
Thats weird ...iv had mine going for 2 weeks now .use it every day (i go through 20+ smokes ) plus im always opening and closing it trying to do tricks with it
wow this is the first time ive ever seen a peanut lighter. it's so cool it reminds me of a mini round zippo. its cool how it has the same brass tube and screw as a zippo. cool vid man
Bought the peanut lighter and loved it so much I bought another for my boyfriend. But, the prices have changed dramatically...the peanut lighter is around $30. But I'd prefer to have the real deal and not a knock off, and hopefully Countycomm will stand behind their product so if I have any trouble with the lighter down the road I'll get good customer service.
I really want one of these! The tiny one would make such a cool necklace. It'd look alright, and have a ton of function. Perfect back up for those times when your Zippo dries up when you need it, haha.
Sorry to hear abotu your problem, try this, once filled leave it closed and upside down against somethgin so it wont fall over, leave it for an hour to make sure the fluid inside is beign soaked up by the wick exposed at the top, hopfully gravity will do its part to get it started, then try it...
Have you ever heard of an empress light? We've had one in our family since they were released around 1950. My dad and I fixed it up and it still works! Its so ridiculously small.
I have no doubt they woudl sell alot if they offered international shipping as well, but im not 100% sure on thjis, but I think countycomm deals with military groups on orders most of the timwe and what you see on their site is surplus stuff that wasnt needed for group buys...not 100% sure on that but I think soemone told me that at some point...
I think in this time of crisis the people from countycomm will realise the potential of new costumers outside US. Jeff has better things to do than to make and send pakages all around the world all day . Countycomm sould do that . Maybe Jeff can put a good word for us to the people in charge .
Every store that i've been into sells them no matter what. I went into a store in Boston on one of our school trips, I'm 14 and asked them If I could buy one. He said "Everyones old enough to play with fire".
oh ok, well thats true...whenn I 1st got the peanut lighter I oput it on my keys, about a week later I went to take the keys out of the ignition ina rush and I grabbed the lighter when I pulled on it the split ring ebhnd out verfy easily..so it was no longer usable...I replaced it with a small piece of cord, not 550, it woudlnt fit, the cord wasnt very reliable...and I lost the lighter in the driveway...true story...
Nice! I am definitely going to buy one of these. I don't like my zippo because it doesn'y stay lit if you turn it sideways too much so I can't smoke a bowl with it :(. And I don't like bringing it anywhere because I don't want to lose a $40 lighter. But this is perfect, because it attaches to a key chain, and will probably light a bowl better :)
@IEJP cut a small section off of a bicycle inner tube and slide it over your zippo so that it covers the crack, and it should last about 3 times as long
Those Lighters are really cool! Great videos man, keep it up. Although you repeat yourself alot, I consider your videos, some of the best ones on youtube.
Many gas tanks have a funnel shaped screen in the filling tube for the purposes of filtering what goes in the gas tank (and preventing siphoning). The idea of "tying a string to this and dunking it in your gas tank" might now work. Don't count on doing that in an emergency unless you KNOW that your gas tank does not have a filter screen in the filler tube.
I dont know of hand but I cna promise the oens on DX are not stainless steel...they might be more comparible or similar to the original, but not the upgraded version...
countycomm purchases to me shoudl be made in bulk for that reason, when buyign 4 or 5 itesm $8 shippign isnt bad at all...but to buy one cheap item it is, thwey currently only offer USP, that may change in the future though...
oh my gosh, those things are so freaking cool, i want one of those things super-badly. interested in holding a raffle to give away one of them? 'eh? 'eh? Keep up the cool vids!
similar style lighter but not the same quality also takes about a month to get stuff from dealxtreme...but yweah they ahve alot of cheaop stuff so you cna easily fill a nice order...
tie a piexce of dental floss or thread on the end of the wick then put the thread or floss through the hole then pull to get that wich through, hope that helps you...
I wonder if they could adapt the striker for a survival flint striker like the Zippo one? especially the one from the split pea, would likely be the smaller striker I'd ever seen and would light charcloth, ect.
i just got my SS peanut lighter I LOVE IT! i have it on my keys. they look like they can take a lot before the stop working thanks again i would have not gotten it if u didn't make this video
@brownbear696969 countycomm uses UPS only hense the rpices go to UPS website to see for yourself, what you dont realize is they dont have the site to make mon ye they have it to get rod of extra stuff the military contracts have left over
It's the same design as a Zippo. In fact, the manufacturer basically stole the Zippo design, and put it in a small case with an O-ring. A Zippo wick will most likely work but you may have to cut it short, of course.
what point in the video are you reffering to? I dont mean to be a pain here, but Im trying to figure out what part/p[arts in the video makes you feel as if its a made upo story? This was not suppose to be a commercial in anyway, but a review as it states inn the title...and everytrhgin I said in it was real and true...
that was the most exhaustive video on a super simple product i have ever seen. please never review something complicated. i beg of you. have mercy. cant believe you didnt give the weight of the flint.
You struggled to get a good spark from the smallest one, which made me wonder that there actually isn't enough room for the flint, spring and screw, am i right? The spring must be terribly short, which may become a problem when the flint gets short and the spring should stretch to give pressure. I have the original one as a keychain backup thing that i don't much use for real but it's nice to have and is a cute toy lighter.
Im sorry thats your opinion, I happen to enjoy almost every item I own fromk them, I dont mind lettign people know about a good site when I see one, I often mention good knife sites as well as other places to buy gear...as for them usign ym videso they did ask and I thought it was pretty cool so I let them...
cool lighter demo ...all i can say is that the zippo lighters are made in pa. but the ruler you used in this video was made in my backyard mays bros. is just behind me thought that might get a laugh .....
I wonder if that insert would fit the Zippo fuel cylinders or even those metal pill canister/containers they sell at like pharmacies. They all look similar enough.
I had many problems with mine. The wick fails very quickly. While the steel shell is very tough, my O-ring failed quickly. This allows the fuel to evaporate very quickly. This is not a good piece of surival equipment. The flame goes out very quickly in any wind, particularly once the wick begins to degrade. I loved this when I first got it in the mail but realized after about two weeks that it is not as reliable as billed. I'm back to Swedish firesteel for the trail.
i got one of these but it isn't from this website he mentions. it is a novelty or business card type lighter from the 1930's. it is about 2 inches high and about 1/4 inch round i have a brass #6 from zippo and a french lighter among other lighters i also have a beatty jet lighter. yeah i collect them
@chum1002 lol yeh, it actually doesnt make sense, its keeping things that are deemed dangerous from people who are perfectly law abiding and wouldnt use them for anything bad, and the crimminals who want them can still get them (hard work but still)
the sparking wheel on my split pea came really stiff; i havent been able to spark it. should i spin it forward more so that it cuts a deeper groove into the flint?
i have peanut lighter and can used as key chain that is extra benefit from this lighter never lost it , zippo is better for me weakness is you can lost your zippo that is not good and for me peanut lighter back up if my zippo lost that is my opinion
holly shit i had no idea about the lack of oxygen thing you talked about,,so even though my zippo is open after a few seconds of trying to spark it lit it still wont have enough air to light because the lighter fluid vapors are too heavy? i actually tried blowing it like you said and wouldn't you know it it lit right away lol even with the slightest flick of the flint too wow nice ,i have an imco junior i tried this with as well but it lights right away ,it has that seal cap keeping the vapors in and youd think that would keep it from lighting on the first try but it usually works right away better than zippo ,if it dont light right away i blow on it and try again and i think it works like you said,,another trick i believe is to flare out the tip of your wick like a tree so it has a better chance of catching sparks, also the tip needs to be chard or carburized,i believe it lights right away like that, this is why fresh wicks take time unless you control burn it to leave a layer of char
Can't believe 12 years passed just like that.
what i love about these videos is jeff always talks about how lighters and knives are tools not just the stereotype of for smoking/stabbing fools
the case is actually the exact same size as a 45 shell...
that comment on the zippo was amazing, i never knew that. i actually jumped up and grabbed my zippo, which is notorious for not lighting on the first light, and tested the theory, and it worked.
I really must say I love all of your reviews, Ive been watching them for about an hour now and your just really good at reviewing this kind of stuff.
The latest Peanut lighters have a recess groove for the o-ring to ride on, and is completely tucked away when the cap is screwed on. Copies have the O-ring partially explosed and when subjected to environmental conditions the waterproofness tends to be short lived. 12 years later , still a cool lighter
Just received mine today (stainless steel peanut) and it is very cool! Order one now! Don't go for the smaller "split" pea unless you want it tiny, the 'larger' one is very small anyway!
I wouldn't say Zippos slowly dry out; mine are dead if I leave them alone for a day.
You're not putting enough fluid in then. I'm a smoker and a filled zippo will last me 3-5 days of use, before It's completely empty.
***** The time it takes for the fluid to dry out will also depend on the humidity in the area you live in. I live in a very dry area so a full zippo dosint last long.
Thats weird ...iv had mine going for 2 weeks now .use it every day (i go through 20+ smokes ) plus im always opening and closing it trying to do tricks with it
A day seems extreme, but it's definitely not slow. If I top mine off and just let it sit, it will be empty in about a week.
Use bit of a inner tube of a bike tire and put it over it until needed
wow this is the first time ive ever seen a peanut lighter. it's so cool it reminds me of a mini round zippo. its cool how it has the same brass tube and screw as a zippo. cool vid man

history lesson anyone? back in Vietnam, the soldiers would tie their Zippo to a string and dunk it in the gas tank of the jeeps and they worked fine
He's already spoke about this bud
+dannie1236 well thanks I guess but maybe some people did not see the vid that he told us that in
Spencer Grilli true that I tried but my zippo would not fit in the tank
@ Spencer Grilli lol it was in this video
I really want one of these! The tiny one would make such a cool necklace. It'd look alright, and have a ton of function. Perfect back up for those times when your Zippo dries up when you need it, haha.

They could definitely make bullet cases for these
I have no doubt they woudl sell alot if they offered international shipping as well, but im not 100% sure on thjis, but I think countycomm deals with military groups on orders most of the timwe and what you see on their site is surplus stuff that wasnt needed for group buys...not 100% sure on that but I think soemone told me that at some point...

Cheers
Chris.

hey, we found it on eBay, ships from China for $ 6.99 free shipping (the chrome plated zinc version). Thanks for suggesting these.
Nice! I am definitely going to buy one of these. I don't like my zippo because it doesn'y stay lit if you turn it sideways too much so I can't smoke a bowl with it :(. Best review I was looking for one and saw yours thank you so much
I've seen these on vat19 as well. You can also use them as a small storage case.
These things are frickin great! I want one so bad!
Those Lighters are really cool!
Great videos man, keep it up. Although you repeat yourself alot, I consider your videos, some of the best ones on youtube.
they will work about the same, but not with the same reliabiliuty rate, just a cheaper version but Im sure they will work fine...

I dont know of hand but I cna promise the oens on DX are not stainless steel...they might be more comparible or similar to the original, but not the upgraded version...
i want one soo badly
These would be good with those little coke can heater, stove set ups...and matching at that.
countycomm purchases to me shoudl be made in bulk for that reason, when buyign 4 or 5 itesm $8 shippign isnt bad at all...but to buy one cheap item it is, thwey currently only offer USP, that may change in the future though...

I loved my old school zippo.
Nice video, and a great little invention. I guess the only problem for some, would be that you need two hands to use it. A Zippo only require one.
I just ordered one and love it along side my Zippo lighters great vid!!
Why would you need to light a peanut?
+David Johnson Think "Planters - Dry Roasted Peanuts"
Oh OK, makes sense now, thanks, ;-)
David Johnson you are so dumb
TheDoubleJ's No humour on your planet then I'm guessing?
David Johnson ;
I once smoked a macadamia nut
VERY nice! the O ring also prevents furl from evaporating
tie a piexce of dental floss or thread on the end of the wick then put the thread or floss through the hole then pull to get that wich through, hope that helps you...
Dont travel anywhere in the world without it!MUST HAVE!
I wonder if they could adapt the striker for a survival flint striker like the Zippo one? especially the one from the split pea, would likely be the smaller striker I'd ever seen and would light charcloth, ect.
Great review, I bought two split-pie lighters and they are great!
Countycomm doesn't send to Europe so I got mine from miles stair survival shop.
yes.
They use zippo style ligther fluid, not butane.
jeff you should make small recap videos of all your old grear reviews and put the together. Not all just your favorites
hi jeff, can you make a review of the peanut lighter xl from countycomm with the brass insert. many thanks.
i just got my SS peanut lighter I LOVE IT! i have it on my keys. they look like they can take a lot before the stop working thanks again i would have not gotten it if u didn't make this video
@brownbear696969 countycomm uses UPS only hense the rpices go to UPS website to see for yourself, what you dont realize is they dont have the site to make mon ye they have it to get rod of extra stuff the military contracts have left over
Go to any automotive store or diving shop they would have a selection of O-Rings that where I got a replacement

great review !
I can't believe I have not seen this before thanks
@yesmynameismy its the same way to change wick as a zippo. go on his channel and look up the video of 'how to change a zippo's wick'
Thanks, zippo is no good its lost the feul very quick
what point in the video are you reffering to? I dont mean to be a pain here, but Im trying to figure out what part/p[arts in the video makes you feel as if its a made upo story? This was not suppose to be a commercial in anyway, but a review as it states inn the title...and everytrhgin I said in it was real and true...
For some reason I laughed every time you blew it out
Ethan Davidson It's annoying now you mentioned it
It's got a cap ,PUT THE DAMN CAP ON IT!!!
that was the most exhaustive video on a super simple product i have ever seen. please never review something complicated. i beg of you. have mercy. cant believe you didnt give the weight of the flint.
shipping costs from countycomm is like 20 bucks to NL so yeah pretty expensive
You struggled to get a good spark from the smallest one, which made me wonder that there actually isn't enough room for the flint, spring and screw, am i right? can you give me an example of what you mean, specifically?
great video sir. Gonna go get me one now
Im sorry thats your opinion, I happen to enjoy almost every item I own fromk them, I dont mind lettign people know about a good site when I see one, I often mention good knife sites as well as other places to buy gear...as for them usign ym videso they did ask and I thought it was pretty cool so I let them...

@Chris2o2 Haha, yeah. I've heard that England is much more strict on.."Dangerous" items. It doesn't sound to great!
@BloodSeeker117 lol they did message me here in the past to ask my permission to use the videos but they dont pay me for them...
I wonder if that insert would fit the Zippo fuel cylinders or even those metal pill canister/containers they sell at like pharmacies. They all look similar enough.
@pcblah i would maybe try to light a piece of string soaked in vegetable oil, dont put it in your lighter unless its certain
the bottom of the split pea compared to the upgraded is different, seems like it has a smaller chamfer that the more rounded chamfer of the upgrade
I had many problems with mine. The wick fails very quickly. While the steel shell is very tough, my O-ring failed quickly. This allows the fuel to evaporate very quickly. yeah, but there are alot of other kidns of rings, like D rings, or split rings...
this video is now on the county comm website for the 'split pea' lighter
i got one of these but it isn't from this website he mentions. it is a novelty or business card type lighter from the 1930's. it is about 2 inches high and about 1/4 inch round i have a brass #6 from zippo and a french lighter among other lighters i also have a beatty jet lighter. yeah i collect them
chim chimmeny chim chim cheree
Do a review of the Microtech ADO its an awesome little dagger / stiletto for self defence
i think i will get off the lighter from the container and now i got the sturdy container to keep other think.
They don't always light first try. The flint wheel is exposed, so it can get greasy or dirty, which can affect its reliability.
"you can use ton of crap" :DD
Love your vids dude, keep em coming
Those are really awesome i want one and the site has other really awesome stuff
this video is on the county comm website.
I have never seen a lighter like this. I must try this out :)
@BloodSeeker117 thnaks, maybe one day it would be nice, haha
sounds good, let em know if ti works for you!
Very cool lighters. I want buy one.
@chum1002 lol yeh, it actually doesnt make sense, its keeping things that are deemed dangerous from people who are perfectly law abiding and wouldnt use them for anything bad, and the crimminals who want them can still get them (hard work but still)
around 10:22 i can hear your clock alarm xD another great review btw
Use mine all the time. Just now got that split pea for 5 bucks on Amazon
yeah tbhat have enough fun cool stuff to make oredering a few items at once easy...
the sparking wheel on my split pea came really stiff; i havent been able to spark it. should i spin it forward more so that it cuts a deeper groove into the flint?
@senomooo i know it works... but it would be too hard to light with a few sparks :P
Does they fits regular size flint like zippo flint or uses smaller flints?
Jeff your video is on the county comm website !
Found a good flint match in roadeaevour. This is awesome too!
i have peanut lighter and can used as key chain that is extra benefit from this lighter never lost it , zippo is better for me weakness is you can lost your zippo that is not good and for me peanut lighter back up if my zippo lost that is my opinion
The split pea does that to compensate for its lack in size...
they have a titanium one now... i need a new oring for my mine
hey jeff this video is featured on countycomms website for these peanut lighters
holly shit i had no idea about the lack of oxygen thing you talked about,,so even though my zippo is open after a few seconds of trying to spark it lit it still wont have enough air to light because the lighter fluid vapors are too heavy? i actually tried blowing it like you said and wouldn't you know it it lit right away lol even with the slightest flick of the flint too wow nice ,i have an imco junior i tried this with as well but it lights right away ,it has that seal cap keeping the vapors in and youd think that would keep it from lighting on the first try but it usually works right away better than zippo ,if it dont light right away i blow on it and try again and i think it works like you said,,another trick i believe is to flare out the tip of your wick like a tree so it has a better chance of catching sparks, also the tip needs to be chard or carburized,i believe it lights right away like that, this is why fresh wicks take time unless you control burn it to leave a layer of char
I was wondering, is changing the wick or pulling it out a little the same as in a Zippo?
