Such a deep song and the video is amazing. You just don't see the ending coming with the little boy actually being a guardian angel the whole time. And the end is like a double edge sword, because you feel good that now she is finally with others that will love her, but at the same time you see all those kids and realize how many go through the same thing.
And yet once you have seen the video you realize all the foreshadowing about the boy being an angel is there. The way he shows up out of nowhere, the way he is in a dark house directly across from her window with no sign of adults anywhere, the way his face glows as she passes away. It's there
This song has so many meanings hidden in the lyrics and the video. The Concrete Angel was referring to her tombstone, the boy was an angel bringing her to place where she’d be loved, Heaven. Deepest line is by far ‘A broken heart that the world forgot’
Song is actually written about Martina’s 7 year old niece that was beaten to death by her mother (Martina’s sister). The headstone is actually Martina’s niece headstone.
It’s not true. I googled and the first thing said it was. But when you past that first result you see it wasn’t. I believed it for a long time too. Still a heartbreaking song and I’m glad Martina never had to go through that.
I grew up loving Country music in the 90s, so already enjoyed Martina's music. She has such a great voice, and many of her songs are very powerful like this one. I am far from on her musical range, but I have always loved this song, and sing it whenever I hear it, not caring who hears me, or if they like or hate my voice. Whether it comes across nice or not, many have at least heard the emotion in my voice, and it's hard to sing this song without feeling it. Beautiful woman, beautiful voice, beautiful song that hits hard once you realize its truth. I'm glad you experienced it. So many of her songs have similar feels, but 90s Country (which includes the early aughts) is full of great music, as any genre from that decade.
I began singing in 1977 at the Naval Academy, and then continued in choirs for years. I have enjoyed singing karaoke since 1997. In the past decades, I have expanded the range in both directions, while refusing to change the keys of songs.
This actually happened. Martina’s sister abused and killed her daughter. The tombstone on the video has Martina’s nieces name, date of birth and the day she died. So sad! Too many people want to adopt! DONT ABUSE let someone adopt them, geez!! Great reaction!!❤
My mom used to have one of the largest daycare centers in Wyoming. Most of our clients were single moms and I can tell you hundreds of stories of terrible abuse that still bother me 40 years later. The moms are not all innocent and you would be shocked to see how little alcohol has to do with any of it.
Enjoyed your reaction. One thing I learned is that just because a woman can have children doesn't mean she'll automatically become a good mother. In my line of work, I've met dozens & dozens of abusive mothers who were not addicts. So Sad.
If you think this is a sad and powerful song, I'd personally say that "The 11th Commandment" by Collin Raye is just as powerful a message. He honestly doesn't get as much love as he should for his work, seeing he's covered a lot of hard topics. Here are a few of his songs and what they basically are about, you'll see most are very heartfelt. *Love Me- A song about his grandfather showing him the letter his grandmother left him, back when they were first dating. *What if Jesus comes back like that- a song talking about how people treat certain people and implying "Well, what if it was jesus in that situation" *Harder Cards- A song about a cop that makes a hard choice, after finding out the call he's on, isn't so black and white. *What I need- song about prayer and god giving you what you need rather than what you want. *She's gonna fly- a song about a boy struggling with the fact his grandma is losing her memories. *She's with me- A story about a loving dad and his disabled daughter. And these are just what I can remember off the top of my head. I'd honestly recommend you listen to him if you don't mind Christian/country music.
There are true crime channels that are dedicated to these kinds of stories. The AFC Podcast, Annie Elise, True Red Crime, etc. sad that there's so many that there's enough to warrant channels on TH-cam
So heartbreaking seeing this pretty little girl talking to her 'angel' friend. Not knowing how or why sometimes when a little girl or boy pass away. 💔💔
If you watch carefully you will get clues. When the mother is beating the little girl the boy looks upward as if to let God know she will be there soon. Also when hes standing at the police tape line when the girl dies his face is eluminated with a heavenly light. Also as they hug at the grave they both are eluminated as they pass into heaven. If you watch it again it kind of gives it more meaning
This wasn't but could have been written about Judith Barsi. She was a petite little angel who was "discovered" when she was 5 and appeared In dozens of commercials, tv shows, and was in 3 major movies between 1983 and 1988 (Jaws the Revenge, voice of Ducky in Land before Time, and voice of the little girl in All Dogs Go to Heaven.) she charmed everyone she met and seemed like the perfect little girl. But behind the scenes she was living in hell at home. her drunk father horribly abused her and her mother, constantly threatened to kill them. The abuse was actually somewhat of an open secret. Her mom toyed with the idea of leaving with Judith but was either too scared or didn't;t want to lose the nice house and things Judith's career had gotten them (little 10 year old Judith was the bread winner.) Unfortunately, the father wasn't;t bluffing. One night he shot 10 year old Judith in the head while she slept, then his wife in the hall (she may have been running toward the gunshot coming from Judiths room.) A couple days later he took his own life. Her story highlights the danger of domestic violence, and that if you see something, say something, do something.

The boy was already an angel...

All the kids at the end were angels 😇
I always looked at this as the kids had been abused and killed by their parent
@@TNgirl546 yes me too. All the abused angels.

Next story song should be Martina McBride - Independence Day (Official Video). Powerful voice!
Mine was my mom, later my step dad joined in. My real dad is the sweetest person ever.
💯
He was her guardian angel
I've watched a bunch of reactions to this video and you're the only one get the concrete angel reference. Thank you.
The little boy is her guardian angel.
It's the concrete angel on her tombstone.
The boy was her Angel of death, he came for her to take her to place where she would be loved.
not an angel of death. a guardian angel
This is a very sad yet beautiful song.

You never know what someone is going through. Be kind. Spread the love. #loveistheanswer

The line that gets me is the lunch she packed.
Notice the little boy was her guardian angel

The concrete angel is on her tombstone
Martina wrote this about her niece.
The boy was a concrete angel coming to get her
So heartbreaking seeing this pretty little girl talking to her 'angel' friend. Not knowing how or why sometimes when a little girl or boy pass away. 💔💔
So sad that any child has to go through this 😢
Martina's not afraid to take on heavy subjects. I recommend "Broken Wing" which touches spousal abuse.

Check put THE LITTLE GIRL by Jihn Micheal Montgomery. Similar bit a better ending

True story It was a relative of Martina's
People need to get alcohol isn’t always involved …
