We travelled through Slovenia this summer for 2 weeks, one of my friends is vegetarian, and there was plenty of vegetarian food available. Slovenians value their home grown vegetables and eat plenty of it.

I live in Poland and I can not agree on weather- we have one of the best weathers in Europe- usually very hot in summer up to 40C in summer, and cold winters with minus 20 30 some winters with snow . good for skiing. Compering to UK, Netherlands, Dannmark with constant clouds and rain and etc. Germany, Poland, Czech Rep. Slovakia, Hungary, Switzerland have proper 4 seasons weather. I'm vegeterian and you always can buy cheap fresh veg and fruits on farmers markets- and they are farmers markets even in small towns

Love Central Europe, the last 100 years has been rough (understatement of the century) for everyone living there, except Switzerland, the neutral mountain Germans. Nice to see the area finally getting back together, deserves it. :)
Also the food, I swear that every country in Central Europe eats and drinks the same stuff, they just call it different things. :P

Almost, we are very similiar but not true, for example our xzech goulash, you dont add fresh paprika to the base and at the end you add marjoram, in comparement to the hungarian

There are exceptions to the rule :)
I lived in berlin for 3 years and one fall and winter it rained everyday... so needless to say i am jealous :)
have a great time in frankfurt
and if you could not tell finding enough hates was tough for central europe, we love it there!
    thanks for watching and commenting!

About temperature: don't let the average temperatures imply you how hot/cold it might be or what to wear! The amplitudes are very high (different weather fronts fight with each other above the Central Europe all the time) and you will never know if July would be tropical (85-93 F is a normal thing in the summer, although three digits are very rare experienced), or all about windbreakers. Heck, it can be Wednesday this, Friday that.

Great video but you definetely didn't get it right on weather, especially in Austria, Hungary, Slovenia or Slovakia. These places are not in the Mediterranean but near enough to have sunny summers, little rain, relatively mild winters but not too mild to get some snow on Christmas (sometimes). Great places for wine. And Slovenia actually is in the Mediterranean and you have some Mediterranean vegetation there. So definitely WRONG on weather for the southern part of "Central Europe"

  • @MARI0LAND
    @MARI0LAND 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

I live in Berlin and cannot really agree on the wheather thing. In the summer, we do have bikini temperatures, at least sometimes.
For example, we now have about 32°C (90°F), forecast predicts 38°C (100°F) for the weekend. Hooray for global warming!
Also: I would not call Freiburg a "little village". It has about 220,000 inhabitants,

Wolter knows what he is talking about. The service comments are so true but if you take it with a proper attitude you will adapt easier. I do not consider the level of service as subpar, just different that's all. I was stationed in Germany when it was still West Germany so going back to Europe was much better the second time around because I knew what to expect. One of my fondest memories was this small cafe' inside the Frankfurt train station. It was hard to believe it was so slow as the station itself is quite busy. The owner came out and starting conversing with us like we were old friends. The wife was a little surprised (being an uninitiated traveler) as this behavior is not too common in the states. None the less she enjoyed the company. Everyone has advice about traveling Europe and there is an abundance of information available but there seems to be one universal truth. If you keep the "When in Rome do as the Romans" mentality you will enjoy it far better. Stay relaxed, stay safe and always well traveled.

yeah, there really aren't any "hates" I have for central Europe, they are more like mild annoyances :) central Europe is fun and good to see, Budapest is not that bad, you just need to watch out at night and even then it is just paying attention to your surroundings. So do not get too worried. have a great trip!

Cesky Krumlov (Yes I know I am probably raping the spelling, sorry for that) in Czech Republic. One of the most beautifull towns I have ever been to. Me and a friend were on vacation in Prague and this guy who's from Prague that we were staying at told us to go there. We first went to go for one day. Ended up staying there for 2 nights. Truly amazingly beautiful.

That is the key, get away from the tourist area, I always recommend that as a way to save some money, but I dont want to send a group of 80 year old Americans off to the outskirts of the city without them knowing how to get back :)
but yes you are right, go to the non-tourist areas and central europe is great and affordable. this is very true.

The Czech Republic can be cheap though! I was in a restaurant one year ago (away from the tourist areas) with a beautiful view over the hills. We were having dinner there with 6 adults and 2 kids. We had everything including a starter, main course, drinks and a dessert, all of great quality. I was suprised that it only cost us 100 Euros! Nice video as always Mark! :)

as a Slovenian I disagree a bit, especialy the weather, it can get really hot up to 40 degrees, but it's true that it can change in a day a lot (it can go from hot 30 degreees to rain and down to 15 degrees), it's not that cheep that's true, but depends on the cauntry, food is on the heavy side true, but we adapted and have vegetarian manues or food with less fat and come visit Slovenia, not many people know we exist, we used to be part of Yugoslavia, but many don't know how many different sires there are to our country, you can be at the Adriatic sea one moment and half an hour later you are skiing in the Alps, it's June now and in April we still had snow and you could go skiing, and than 3 hours later you are close to the Hungarian border where you can try out wine, I belive that the people in central Europe are quite friendly and if you go into the smaller towns people offer you home cooked meals and wine and I just love it :D

Hi Wolters, there is kind of veggie 'Mc Donalds' in Poland cold 'Green Way' is in every city in Poland and there you can have good quality vegetarian meals, not for every day because they have like 5 or 6 different meals only but still something to lay on when you are vegetarian...

I enjoyed the great video, totally spot on as always!
just wanted to add a quick tip concerning the service: if you have the feeling you've been waiting too long to be served, just try calling the waiter over; normally the staff is used to leaving you alone until you make yourself get noticed, because they don't want to seem pushy.
but in general, as an austrian, I'd say I have to agree, service can be really crappy, especially by american standards - love youre service culture. :)

    Hi :)
I love your videos. Its great how foreigners see my country. Im german.
One word to the service. Its right, it seems not friendly, but the reason is found in the nature of us germans. We germans are direct. We say what we think. So, the sellers in shops expect that from you. Thats not bad meant.
Oh and one thing at last, please, do never compare the mastery of beer making in germany with any other country. Its not fair, they always lose. We are the Michael Phelps or Usain Bolt of beer ;)

There are many things to love about travelling in Europe, the scenery, the food, the scenic train rides esp when it traverses the borders...but what I hate about Europe, esp within the last few years, is that it has become more and more dangerous with snatch thieves prowling the airports and stations, mainly gypsies, middle eastern or north african who are either jobless or came into Europe on refugee status. You have to be constantly alert and hold tight to your belongings. My friend had his mobile snatched from him sideway while he was talking and I had my backpack containing some cash and passport snatched from me when they distracted me by pretending to ask you something. All these happened because European borders are too porous and the police cant do much about these people.
